I'm new to Detroit and can confidently say that Soraya is my go-to sushi place. I dined in here with a group of co-workers and we all had a smattering of cocktails/wine/mocktails. I had my usual glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and it was light and crisp, just as expected. For apps to share, we got edamame, shishito peppers, and gyoza. The edamame had more of a kick to them than the shishito peppers which was an interesting take. For dinner, I had the miso soup, which was not listed on the menu at that time but I had stalked the menu online prior to going and saw it on there -- fortunately, they were able to accommodate my request, highly recommend, and the spicy tuna roll. I've had many spicy tuna rolls and would say Soraya's is very good especially when paired with wasabi+soy. I have since picked up sushi here and the to-go process was a breeze. Other perks about this place -- coat check, upscale ambience good for all sorts of dinners (business/date/girls night), and appropriately priced.

Yum-o!! I really enjoyed my food here over the weekend. We had the following (see menu attachment for the prices and descriptions):Edamame:Had a wonderful citrus bent to it with a kick of spice.Ponzu Sweet Potato:I really enjoyed this and found it nicely filling. I'd love to have this again.Okonomiyaki (savory octopus pancake):This was my favorite of the flavors, and I will be having this again. Definitely a "craveable" item!!Yellowtail and Tuna Sashimi appetizers:These dishes had generous bites of delicious tasting fish. I was quite satisfied with our choices here. We also got a bottle of "Les Allies Blanc de Blanc" it was $35, and I found it a very worthwhile purchase. We were lucky to have the round booth that used to be part of the bank vault while we were there. I really enjoyed the privacy despite it being a bit drafty. I would most definitely return--our service was great, and it was nice that they did a fantastic job of clearing the empty plates. I'll be back!! Thank you!!

Tried the newly opened Soraya last night! We made reservations for a Thursday evening but there were lots of available tables. The interior is still pretty similar to the former Maru and the space is beautiful. We started off with the gyozas which we enjoyed. We then decided to split the flaming ahi roll, branzino karaage, and niku udon. The sushi came out first with beautiful presentation and tasted so good! We really loved this one. Next was the branzino which I thought was just okay. The udon came a while later and tasted very good, but by the time it arrived I was already quite full. I probably would have enjoyed more of this if it came out with the branzino. For dessert, we enjoyed the amazing matcha tiramisu! This was not too sweet and very well flavored, and we were told made by a very talented in house pastry chef.Probably my favorite part of the evening was our lovely server, Juju! She was so kind and friendly and we loved chatting with her, and really enjoyed her recommendations! I hope to see her again next time!

A few glitches on the grand opening but overall a fabulous experience. Delicious cocktails and food. Only drawback is the bathrooms for accessibility. While large enough the toilets are so low to the ground I feel it would near impossible to transfer from a wheelchair. Accessible access to restaurant is great. Hope they work out the timing kinks for the next prix fix experience.

Solid spot overall. The service was great and our server knew the menu very well to recommend things. My favorites were the chicken katsu sandwich, the tempura broccolini, and the sashimi assortment. The ambiance could be spruced up a little with more decor and music.

Soraya was a great experience. The staff were friendly and the ambiance was relaxing. Our waiter answered all our questions and tentative. The spider roll and salmon on the beach roll were delicious and worth the price. At first I thought the rolls were a bit pricey, but they were decent sized and delicious. The crab korokke appetizer was really good too! The right amount of creamy and crunchiness. I really hope to revisit for their lunch menu because they have a lot of different options that looked good too.

I went here on a double date with some friends who had a chance to try out Black Ginger before the move, so we were excited to give Soraya a try. It's in the location where Maru Sushi used to be (heart of downtown so leave a little time to find parking). We ordered a lot of dishes, the standouts were definitely the Okonomiyaki and the niku udon. I loved the flavor of the udon and the noodles were perfect. The sashimi was good, but I think I just like specialty sushi rolls in general and the branzino karaage was decent, but not my favorite. Our server, Sean, was an absolute gem and his service was exceptional. He checked on us often and was very attentive. We ended up ordering a dessert that was sold out, but he went the extra mile by getting us the matcha tiramisu on the house to make up for the dessert being sold out. Definitely made our dinner experience better so shoutout to Sean!

Loved the matcha tiramisu and the chicken katsu the most. Drinks were tremendous across the board. Lobster croquette was a nice addition too. Okinamoyaki was a bit octopus forward for my personal preferance,, and similarly the udon was a bit heavy on the onions, but overall very pleased with our time and experience. Staff were the best part. They even hand wrote us a card for our anniversary!!

Wonderful hidden gem in the Federal Reserve Building. Parking was simple/validated. Everyone was so friendly - bar manager was extremely knowledgeable and was able to choose/craft drinks to your liking. The food was delicious, very generous portioning. The whole restaurant was relatively quiet, with comfortably dimmed lighting. Extremely impressed and satisfied - cannot wait to visit again.
