Shorty's Bar & Grill

This was a difficult night. I went to 2 other bars in the area hoping for a cold beer and a good fish dinner. Both had parking lots 100% full either lines out the door. Shortys had plenty of parking and seating. That should've been my cue to leave.I sat at the bar between two guys that are too drunk to finish complete sentences (literally), and I quickly realize that the majority of the bar is filled with a ROUGH crowd of blue collar power drinkers.I want to emphasize that the bar staff was on point. Very good at their job, and friendly. They were the high point of the night.Regardless- I was still hungry for fish dinner, which Shorty's advertised as $17.99 for all you can eat fish. Before I ordered I noticed that no one was ordering food of any sort. That should've been clue #2 to leave but I'm still hungry.I ordered the fish, which comes with fries, cole slaw, and (oddly) Mac n cheese. I passed on the Mac, eagerly awaiting the unlimited beer battered cod my bartender promised me. Cole slaw showed up first, and I love cole slaw. 2 bites in, it was clear that this was far past its expiration date so I stopped. Then the fish showed up. I may be wrong, but it seemed like the fish was pre battered and microwaved. The breading was soggy and fell off the fish. The fish was also so soggy it couldn't stick to a fork. The 2 fries I tried were fine.Anyways - I'll never, ever recommend this place to anyone for any reason. Lesson learned. 2 stars for the bar staff. Otherwise a 0 star review.

Stopped in for lunch and had the perch special. I was disappointed. The was tough and greasy. Overcooked. The coleslaw was under seasoned too. Not sure what happened. Usually it's much better. I'll try one more time, but if it's still this bad, I won't be back.

This place was okay but did the trick for 11pm on a Sunday on a holiday weekend. A friend and I had gone to Pine Knob to see a concert, and then were looking for a nearby place to meet up with a friend who lived in the Waterford area. Johnny Black's was closed, OverTyme was definitely closed (no one in the parking lot), but Shorty's was open.They have almost zero gluten-free items so my friend got a White Russian instead, for $6.50, which is reasonably priced. My other friend got fried Oreos, the only dessert they have, and I got the mozzarella sticks. The sticks were $9.99 for five small ones, which was also pricey; they were fine but not very hot, and the marinara sauce was cold. The Oreos were pretty good but I've had better at BD's Mongolian BBQ. My Waterford friend mentioned this was kind of a dive bar but the bathrooms were clean, which I appreciated, and it's a large space so it was pretty COVID-safe last night, with not a lot of people there.

Got to go with the Yelp rating three stars all the way. Places is big, kind of boring. And the staff running around confused as anything. New hires coming in like everywhere else staffing seems to be a problem. This place could be something, with a chef and an exciting menu, improve the service. But hey it's standard water tucky, it is what it is. Shorty's tucky.

Be great if the staff didn't play endless Irish music their own dime in the jukebox! Tired of Irish music just anything else would be okay.

Good burgers. I hope they don't still store cases of beer in the employee bathroom. That does not seem ok.

A fun bar to go to for karaoke on a slow Monday night. The chicken wrap was delicious.

1 hour or more for chicken strips... fuck that just left didn't get them! Sobered up while waiting for food at a bar starting eith a buzz.

I came in on a Friday for the online advertised 8.99 Fish special. When my bill came it was $12.99. I showed the waitress the online price and she asked the cook who told her no. Thr fish itself was fine and the service was fast and good. But when I told the waitress I wouldn't be coming back with such bad customer service she just walked away.

the owner which is a bald little guy who is always there on the weekends is by far one of the rudest people ever placed on earth. I seen him get drunk and put people out of the bar because he is drunk. he treats his staff like trash and that's the reason for shortys in Waterfords big employee turnover
