Second time here - always such a fantastic experience. Great sushi, intimate, lively vibe, good service, and adjacent to downtown Royal Oak. This visit we came for their happy hour, which happens daily even on the weekends (with varying hours). As we came early evening, we were seated quickly- but the restaurant filled quickly and there was soon a lengthy wait for tables by the time we finished. We didn't order any cocktails this time, but we did get their green matcha tea which was solid. We ordered:- tuna tartare tacos - hamachi crudo- hot crab rolls - Mountain Dew roll- spicy salmon crunch roll- crispy rice crab rangoonOur favorites were the hot crab roll and the crispy rice crab rangoon - so so good. Sushi rolls were solid, hamachi crudo was a bit small, and the tuna tartare tacos were a bit heavy on spicy mayo and pickled jalapeños. That said, we have no regrets. We even got doubles of things we liked. On my last visit, I came for my birthday and the desserts are on point, especially the warm butter cake. Highly recommend Ronin in Royal Oak for a nice, fun sushi evening out.

Every single dish was a hit. Loved every single dish we got. Went during happy hour and got a few small plates. Recommend the crispy rice and the fries.My favorite dish they make here and it's unique is the crispy rice sushi. It is super crispy and done perfectly that no other restaurant has.The wait can be long if you go during peak hours. We went around 5:30 and had to wait a bit. It got super busy after we left.

Love that Ronin still has their happy hour from 5-7 Mon-Thurs and 4-6 Fri-Sun! Hot crab hand roll and spicy salmon crunch are by far my favorites but I've never had a bad roll or dish there.

Went there for girl's dinner. Had a fun time. Vibes were good. It's loud and dark and crowded but not in a bad way. Your whole party must be available to be seated. Service was really good and quick. We ordered ginger salads each. Then we ordered assortment of rolls. The food was ok, sushi wasn't spectacular. I would go back to hang out if friends suggest.

Came here as a family on a June evening. Last things first -- SINCE WE HAD 5 PEOPLE, THEY SNUCK A 20% REQUIRED TIP ONTO THE BILL WITHOUT MENTIONING IT. I do not agree that it is appropriate policy to require a mandatory tip for any party over four. This is just bad business. And I wonder how many people have double-tipped as a result of the secrecy they use in slipping it onto the bill. BE FOREWARNED.Other than that, the sushi is good. The wine by the glass selection is not great. The decor and atmosphere are vibrant. This used to be a favorite of mine, but this recent experience was unpleasant.

First no complaint and 5 stars!Unique sushi menu that is kind of fun! Last time I tried the crayfish . Crazy good! Part of the scene is the wait. Great bar service and overall fun vibe. Servers are too notch as are bar tenders and probably no better or creative sushi anywhere. Ronin is now a regular stop
