RJ's has been my go to meat shop for over two years... ever since I happen to find the shop wondering around Eastern Market. The staff are friendly and very helpful, price are reasonable. I typically get the short ribs and have them slice it for me (free slicing) and I take it home and marinate it on soy sauce based seasoning and grill it.Now, when I go, I take orders from family and friends and take their orders with me. However, unless you are looking for specific cut of meat, there are times when it'll be cheaper at your local market when it's on sale.

RJ Meats is the finest meat market I have ever experienced. The quality and the quantity of selections are beyond comparison. The prices are extremely fair and the staff is completely knowledgeable. What more could you ask for? Better parking perhaps, but totally worth the effort.

RJ's was fantastic!! They have a wide selection of raw meats, with cuts that you can't find at your suburban Kroger or Meijer. The prices are also great.However, the purpose of this review is to inform you that they have AMAZING cooked beef ribs for $13/slab. So please go there and eat the ribs because they are so very yummy. They offer extra sauce, but I think too much sauce would be a distraction, personally.The service is a little chaotic, as the whole meat market tends to be, but the rj's crew was constantly checking to make sure everyone was helped.I can't wait to go back next time I visit the eastern market.

I have never been here as I usually go to Adam's but I decided to stop in the Meat Market with my sister yesterday as she always raves about RJs. OMG! I looked at my sister and she is laughing at me. I am very particular about my corned beef and they carry my favorite, Broadway! I had to eat some humble pie as my sister was right. It's so hard to admit that, lol. You guys have a customer for life! The place was very clean and smelled fresh. Very nice selection of meats. Broadway melts in your mouth and the steaks my sister purchased were amazing! A real gem in the Meat Market.

The most amazing steak at Eastern Market. I got a Ribeye which was beautiful with marbling and tender. The flavor was amazing. I also got a filet which was tender, I seasoned it with a lavender sea salt and pepper, served rare great cut of meat. Prices are great here. The man behind the counter was attentive and helpful.

Purchased a whole loin and had them cut it for Porterhouse steaks an inch thick. Keep in mind they don't trim the loin of fat before cutting, so you end up paying for excess fat. In other words, you really are paying 12.00 a pound rather than the 9.00 they are selling it for due to the excess fat. Not a real good deal.

I like to selection and quality of meats here. The only gripe I have is, if you are getting a big piece cut into smaller (such as steaks, for example), have them weight and charge you after they cut the piece. I was charged first and then I asked for them to weight after they cut and the difference was about $3 and the guy (just a worker, not proprietor so not sure if he just doesn't care or if it is store policy) acted like it was nothing to it. In big scheme of things this wasn't a big enough amount to have them issue a refund, but the fact that he was unashamed and unapologetic about such a discrepancy and said it was normal business - that alarmed me. Despite how insignificant the difference is, I don't want to patron the business that I feel takes advantage of me. Like I said, this guy is most likely the front line worker that doesn't care about the place's reputation, so I don't want to hold that against the whole business.
