I wanted to love this so much! The restaurant itself was lovely and the service was fantastic. It's a beautiful location. I just didn't think the food was quite as great as the service and the restaurant. We ordered the almond/apple brie as an appetizer and it did not disappoint - a bit more bread with it would have been great. I ordered the lemon chicken and it wasn't what I had hoped for. It was delicious; however, it was very heavy on mushrooms, very light on artichokes and just not quite lemony enough. The mashed potatoes were delicious. My husband had the coconut shrimp - he enjoyed the shrimp, but not the sauce. Overall it was a wonderful dinner.

We recently visited The River Crab with a party of 10 to celebrate my wife's occasion, and it was a fantastic experience. We had a reservation, and our table was preset and ready when we arrived. The service was impeccable--though the staff was a bit young, they were super well-trained. The restaurant itself has a cozy, homey vibe, just the kind of place you want to spend your money on a smaller business that really delivers. For appetizers, we had the scallop entrée and oysters, both of which were amazing. The drinks were top-notch as well. I ordered a New York strip, and it was one of the best hand-cut steaks I've had in a while. I also saw the halibut, which looked delicious. It's definitely on the pricier side--our visit cost about $1200--but overall, it was a premium experience that couldn't have been better. I wish I had taken pictures of the food, but I was too busy celebrating!

I spent dozens of evenings in the River Crab in the past, but this was the first visit in a number of years. Unfortunately, and fortunately, the place was nearly empty due to the fact that it was a Sunday evening. Fortunate in the fact that there was no wait for cocktails or food, unfortunate, as the crowd always adds to the ambience there. Chris, the bartender, is a nice young man who works hard to make the experience a good one. Martha, the manager, has always had a high-level of customer service and satisfaction to her credit. Our waitress, Haley, did a nice job. Also had an opportunity to run into a great old friend there and reconnect. It was my dates birthday, and they brought a crème brûlée to the table with a candle in it. Very tasty and a very special touch to her evening. I had the spicy calamari which, although I appreciated the creativity of the dish, the sauce and veggies were a bit too heavy for my taste. I've always loved calamari there. The dynamite scallops were tasty, although very small... A quarter size of the typical scallop that you would receive in a restaurant.

Nice spot for dinner right on the St Clair River. The service was great. Drinks and food priced reasonably. Reservations are required, especially if you want a coveted outdoor table. Sip your drink and watch the boats go by. We ordered the coconut shrimp appetizer, delicious and the halibut entree. One blackened, one sautéed. The fish was just a touch overcooked. A very enjoyable meal overall. Our server was attentive.

Update to my reviews, I decided to try something different from my usual pasta dish and Wowza....the River Crab knocked it out of the park with the Alaskan Halibut. I'm still thinking about the sauces paired with the Halibut, fantastic! I would recommend serving whole asparagus to offset the entree and possibly rice to add substance to the entree! I loved every bite!

Very disappointed. Thought that it was still part of the Muer Family. Has the blacken fish but i it wasn't blacken and the waitress could explain why it was so bland. Wife's Long Island Ice Tea was weak without much flavor. We'll not be going back.

After being seated, we shared a couple appetizers at our table. Service was excellent, as always. On this visit I opted for the flat iron steak. It was perfectly cooked and accompanied by potatoes and blustered tomatoes. Everything was delicious. My chair faced the river, so of course I had the best seat at our table. I love visiting River Crab when I go "home" to Michigan.

I'm quite stunned that the only restaurant where I'm a club member does not contain a review from me!I've had some so-so experiences here over the years, but this last trip did not disappoint! Everything that I had was absolutely exquisite. I had the prime rib along with mashed potatoes and started with a wedge salad. The wedge salad is one of the best that I've had And the prime rib was cooked to perfection. I didn't even need to use my A1 addiction to make it taste better. They had in their records that I had had a birthday recently, so they gave me a small dessert on the house, which was just delightful Our server was very kind, helpful, and attentive. If you have never been to the River Crab, it's right on the river with the option for outdoor seating. But they have large windows so you can watch the St. Clair River, or watch the freighters going by. They sometimes have a piano player as they did on this night. They have a very extensive wine menu and some specialty cocktails that are worth checking out as wellThere's just really a lot to recommend this place as a destination. When the kitchen is on this is as good a place as you can find in the area. And I was very pleased!

It was almost a full moon on a warm October day. Moon on the water, freighter floating by and a great night out with my husband. This is the kind of atmosphere that makes St. Clair a unique destination. This St. Clair staple; I am shocked I have never reviewed this riverside gem. Well, I haven't always thought of it as a gem- but tonight may have swayed my opinion. It may have been the best food, service and gestalt ever experienced at "The Crab". A popular employment spot for my friends in the '90s I used to enjoy the experience as a teen and always found it a special treat with my family, Tonight I felt that way again. But, I've had some hit and miss over the years so I write this review cautiously optimistic this experience can be replicated! Our server Eric, the singular most personable server in St. Clair Co. ! He was attentive, friendly, chatty and knowledgeable (all super qualities), Food was spectacular- had the beet, pear, walnut, blue cheese salad. Lovely- seriously a perfect balance of fall tastes. It was super! The scallops with green apple hash- also a winner. Scallops were perfect and butternut base smooth. Hash was lacking texture to balance- good flavor. Husband had Prime Rib cooked blue- he says it was great- along with a wedge salad. Also top five in the wedge department (White Horse Tavern still number one). Bread basket is a winner- solid rolls and fish spread (used to get way more!) crackers. It was a great evening. Looking forward to our next trip. Maybe we will spend the night in the hotel and watch the River after our next meal.
