Its my moms favorite and it's like her Cheers. She walks in and every one knows her name and if she hasnt visited in a week or so- everyone is worried. One time, 4 years ago- I got a random phonecall from the vet. They told me a set of keys had been found in Ramseys Parking lot with my moms dog tag on it. Ramseys found it, called the vet, and the vet called me, i called mom and mom went to go get the keys she lost. And thats why we still support this place. You need to keep people like this in business. But- service is pretty good, food is homemade, cooked to order and fresh. Prices are reasonable and the menu is a decent size. Im a fan of the breakfasts, although my sister swears by the soups.

A go-to for breakfast and lunch, dine-in or take out. I typically go Greek with my order--either the gyro or the Greek salad, which comes with a side of pita. The salads all seem to feature an overcooked hard-boiled egg (telltale green ring around the yolk) which is a little odd. (I get cooking it thoroughly but this is clearly like 2-3 minutes past when they could have been pulled fully cooked.) The gyro is better tasting if I'm feeling a little less healthy, with a good balance of meat, chopped vegetables and tzatziki. The fries here are good too if you add a little salt--they are thick and always seem freshly fried. And if you like coneys, obviously, this is the place.

Went at 630am. The place was empty. The waitress was friendly and on point. The food was excellent. Hot and fresh and a ton of it!! I had the Country Skillet. Giant pieces of potato, towels of sausage and peppers and onions. Topped with country gravy.

After spending a full day at Greenfield Village with the family and one of our daughters' friends, we wanted to go somewhere local-ish for dinner. Being a fan of the Detroit-original Coney dog, I did some scouting on Yelp, and eventually selected Ramsey's Coney Island. Arriving around 5:45pm on a Sunday, the restaurant was already pretty busy, and after looking at our party of six, the waitress who greeted us said she would open up the 'family room' for us. My son and I helped to push some tables together, and soon enough we were seated and reviewing the menus. Another super nice waitress -who looked like she was about ten months pregnant- came to take our drink orders, and answered questions about the menu. We ordered a variety of items from the breakfast and sandwich sections of the menu, plus drinks. All told, our bill was under $50, which seemed very inexpensive for a family of six! I can also report that the restaurant appears to accept credit cards now, as that is how we paid for dinner.Décor in the establishment was pretty standard diner stuff, complete with wobbly chairs that the kids enjoyed rocking back and forth on. As I had mentioned, the restaurant had plenty of customs when we arrived, and more came in after us, so the nearly 30 minutes it took to receive our orders felt pretty reasonable. While our meals were not fancy, all six of us agreed that they were good. Personally, I found my Coney dog to be very good, and my son also said his pancakes were very good. We also appreciated how our waitress did a good job of keeping our glasses refilled. The only bad part of our dining experience at Ramsey's Coney Island were the restrooms. My youngest described the ladies room as being "kinda yucky" but it must have been in much better shape than the men's room. The floor was obviously dirty, and the amount of gunk jammed into the corners and edges of the restroom said that it had not been thoroughly cleaned in a long, long time. It also irked me that there were no hand towels in the restroom, something the waitstaff clearly knew, because the individual who exited the single-occupant men's room before me, was our waitress (hey, she was pregnant, and pregnant ladies are allowed to use any restroom available!), who used a napkin to open the restroom door (no doubt so she did not have to touch the doorknob, which was just as dirty as everything else in the restroom).PROS: good unpretentious food, attentive waitstaff, and great pricesCONS: the restrooms were some of the worst ones we have experienced outside of truck stopsWhile I would really love to give the restaurant a 4-star rating based on its many pros, the state of the restrooms really holds it back. As such, I have to rate Ramsey's Coney Island as just being Good. If we come back -something my wife could well veto because she has a pretty low tolerance for unclean restrooms- and the issues have been resolved, I will happily update my review accordingly.

I have read about the rude staff and the food problems, but i have had none of those issues. Not only have they been on point with the food, the staff have been great with big and small orders. I have only the best to say about the food and staff. I wish they were closer to home. If you are in the area, stop in for lunch. They have the absolute best bacon cheeseburger, easily beats 5 guys and wheat and rye hands down. Awesome stuffed peppers and fantastic salads. Prices are very reasonable especially these days when all the locals have been taking advantage of the pandemic by raising the prices, adding delivery charges and lowering the quality of the food. Thank you guys for your continued service to the community.

This place is an institution. My wife and I found this place around 17 years ago. We moved from Downriver just a couple of years later. We found ourselves in Southgate last night looking for somewhere grab a quick bite. My wife had their mini chili and cheese omelet. That is a staple here. I had a coney for myself, and the wife and I split an order of chili cheese fries. DELICIOUS!!!Now, it's been a long time since we've been here. Life is hectic. Downriver may as well be on the other side of the planet sometimes. So I'm not too sure when they updated the interior, but it looks really, really nice! Our server was very nice, and was on top of everything. It's a locally owned family business that knows their locals. Awesome place!

Food was amazing and fresh. The omelette are definitely amazing! It's hard to find a coney that will put jalapeños inside of your omelette and the cheese inside of your omelette downriver! Breakfast DownriverVeggie Omelet

I ordered a chicken Caesar salad to go. I received a box full of lettuce, a bit of scrap size chicken bits, and a fistful of dry croutons. The chicken was hot so it melted the styrofoam. All this for over $8.00. I was told by the owners that every coney makes a Cesar salad different. Good to know as I will only get my salads from restaurants who know how to make things on their menus with taste. Horrible excuse for a Caesar salad. Do better!
