Rainbow Restaurant

If you enjoy good traditional Chinese American food, then this is the right place for you. The food is fresh and tasty. The portions are extremely generous so expect to take home a doggy bag. The couple behind us split a meal, which in hindsight, we should have done. We ordered 2 dishes that could have fed 4 people easily. The restaurant does a lot of carry out business as you can see from the photo. We arrived at 5 pm when there only a few people seated at tables. By the time we left, the place was filling up. The wait staff was super friendly and efficient. The place was busy and although the waitresses were in constant motion, they were still attentive to their guests.

Went here for the lunch special which was $11.95. That included choice of soup, entree, fried rice, and an egg roll. I had the hot and sour soup and orange chicken which were both great choices. Would definitely come back just for the orange chicken. Service was very fast as it wasn't too busy for lunch. Very laid back spot with limited seating. Probably more of a takeout spot.

We have been here several times and it's always good. Not excellent, but good. Hits:- egg rolls are fantastic!!- wonton soup is very good - flexible in letting you swap out sauces (I like almond chicken with the egg foo young gravy)- friendly staff (mainly the middle aged guy who likes to joke with others)Misses:- hot and sour soup is very peppery - egg goo young gets really oily at times - hubby claims the general Taos is peppery but i think it's just his taste buds from the hot and sour soup

It is with a broken heart that I leave this review!! I have ate here several times in the past and always had very good quality (which is why I don't mind the prices) but I feel like the "quantity vs quality" problem has caught up with them. Total was just about $60. Ordered 2 sweet and sour chickens, 1 orange chicken, 1 steamed dumpling and 1 pint of Chop Suey "hot" with a "extra spicy" note. 1. The sweet and sour chicken bites were soft and some undercooked. Some of the chicken was grizzled which is an instant stop for my kids and I. 2. The orange chicken was good 3. The steamed dumplings were not edible. They were mush and smelled very funny. We have had them several times from here and they were so so bad. 4. The chop suey had zero spice and the sauce was on mostly on the outside of the bag. Very little vegetables and no flavor. Super disappointing to spend $60 and then have to try and feed the kids something else when they really wanted Rainbow. I won't chance it again!

Our first time back today, and I wasn't as impressed with the food this time! They were very fast, and I love the online ordering feature. We essentially repeated our order because it was so good last time! But, unfortunately we didn't have the same experience. Still insane portions, tasty rice, and this time the were so incredibly fast!The sweet and sour chicken was great! My husband was really impressed and loved it. I got the sesame chicken and it was a little dry this time. It didn't have the same tasty crisp texture of the first go but the flavor was still good. Once again, INSANE value. I tried the spring roll and loved it! Crab Rangoon was amazing. They're still HUGE and so tasty!The hot and sour soup was the big disappointment this time. Even just from looking at it you could tell the pepper content was high. Once tasting it the pepper (literally ground pepper) taste was so overpowering it was inedible. It wasn't spicy, just tasted like taking a bite of ground pepper. It was so disappointing since it was SO good when we got it last! Overall still very tasty, and a great value for the money!

Came in with my mother who had a friend that was raving about this place. Not gonna lie, this place did not disappoint! I do not think I have ever really had Chinese food so fresh like this before in my life? ‍ The pork was so delectable in the fried rice! Freshly par steamed or shall I say blanched broccoli in with the general tso chicken that had a decent kick to it too! The egg roll seemed very freshly made and fried as well! Had to remove the super hot grease for it on a towel before serving obviously! I don't know take my word for it or not! What do I know? I'm just a chef....lolz

I have purchased "take out" with Rainbow for over 20 years! It's always been a great Chinese restaurant that is known for its generous portions! I decided to order a combo tonight, but was disappointed! The Egg roll was much smaller and very greasy. The Chicken Egg Foo Yung patties were much smaller and lacking the wonderful gravy! The flavor was great but just not the same as I've always known with Rainbow!

I called in a order and the girl who answered the phone was just pathetically annoyed having to take an order, I haven't been here in years and I almost changed my mind due to her attitude/tone but I wanted almond chicken, always followed your instinct, gravy was horrible, the chicken tough couldn't bite into most pieces. Not happy, no more Rainbow.

Staying in the area and decided to take chance on this place. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the Kung Pao Triple Delight & General Tso. Crab Rangoon, egg drop & hot sour soups really good too. Portions are very generous as well. Very happy with our to go order.
