I was excited to try this place for the first time. It has been almost a year since I have had Chinese food so I could not wait to see what Panda had to offer. I got the Szechuan Chicken with Shrimp Fried Rice and the Sesame Chicken with Shrimp Fried Rice. I was appalled at the portions of the food that I received. There was so much food for the price that I paid. The food was still piping hot by the time I ate it. After the first bite, this killed every craving I had for Chinese food. It was amazing, especially the Sesame Chicken. There were a lot of veggies in my Szechuan Chicken which I loved. I highly recommend this spot for affordability, value, and taste.

The food don't deserve my 1 star most terrible Chinese food anywhere. I went 1 time to the panda in Eastpointe Michigan....food terrible. ..I wanted Chinese food ...my boyfriend went to this one..I told him it was going to be nasty ...But I said Okey maybe it's different this was awful couldn't eat it ..Chinese food just ain't what it use to be...the real cooks have died and passed it on to the kids and it a crock of crap...they should go out of business wasting people's money...I wish I could get mine back but I gave it to the dog....I'm mad

When I moved to Detroit in 1997 I lived in the city for about 10months. I tried many eateries and one place I discovered was Panda. It has been consistently my goto place for American/Cantonese Chinese food for over a decade whenever I get back to Detroit. I routinely drive through NW Detroit for work and to visit my inlaws and when that Chinese food craving hits, I know I can always count on Panda to dose out decent food. There is nothing all that amazing or special about the place, but they, at least to me, are always consistent with their recipes. The clientele are interesting - all professions - come to visit. I almost always though seem to be the only white dude that comes around when I do stop by. another nice thing is they are open late - 11am till 11pm on Mon - Thurs & 12 - 11pm Sun. Fri/Sat 11am till Midnight. For the last few years my default food choice there is a combo special - General Tso's Chicken. I always get it extra spicy and almost always its delicious.Last night when I was visiting the inlaws and my mother-in-law said lets have Chinese for dinner, My taste buds woke up, as we almost always goto Panda. As I said I almost always order the General Tso's Chicken combo. I had a hankering and I knew right off thats what I wanted. Their special combination plates are 20 different choices, all come with Egg Roll and Pork Fried Rice, or 75cents extra for Shrimp Fried Rice. Its a decent portion - more than a Pint but less than a Quart. Their Egg Rolls - IMHO - are tasty but have gotten smaller over the years. At the shrinking rate so far I can surmise in 5yrs their Egg Rolls will be the size of totino's pizza bites. Panda uses dark meat chicken in their General Tso's chicken - I normally don't mind either way. I know why they use dark meat - cost. The sauce is closer to S&S sauce but it varies sometimes - its darker than a S&S sauce and it has more oomph. And when I order it extra spicy they normally just put in a handful of whole szechuan peppers. Sometimes its too sweet - thankfully its just right this time around. Spicy with a hint of sweet. I also ordered a small hot/sour soup. I have tried most of the soups they sell - wonton, egg drop, chicken rice, chicken noodle, subgum wonton, and hot sour. they also sell some sort of house special soup but I can't eat it as it has scallop & shrimp in it. Their hot & sour soup is not awesome by any means - it does tend to be more sour than hot - probably because of cost - they use more vinegar. It has tofu and mushrooms and beansprouts in it with a bit of egg. its very dark - likely from soy sauce. I am used to getting it home and adding my own spices to kick it up.My family all ordered their own favorites - fried scallops & chicken fried rice for my father-in-law, my sister-in-law loves plain old classic sweet & sour chicken - however she was less enthused when she discovered the S&S Sauce is just that - Sauce. Panda stopped putting veges in with their Sweet & Sour orders a while ago. I assume only one reason - cost.My mother-in-law wanted some extra spicy Szechuan Chicken. And my wife got one of her usual's - Almond Boneless Chicken. I personally do not care for the recipe mostly because I am not fond of sludgy gravy goop. But Panda does give a good portion of 3 white meat chicken breasts lightly breaded over steamed chinese veges and lettuce. They all wanted Vegetable Fried Rice so we ordered two quarts. Panda does their Fried Rice up fairly decent - they use a light soy sauce but the chunks of vegetables are good sized. the bill was decent - feed a family of five extra hungry adults for about $45.the parking lot is a fricking joke. and the neighborhood is rundown. But the take out chinese food is almost always good. and prices are still very good considering everywhere else is going sky high. They cook it all fresh to order and a few times On my way home from work I have been able to swing by and pick up some dumplings and a large hot sour soup for about $8 and it takes em less than 10mins.

Panda has quickly become our go-to Chinese place. No, it's not the best Chinese I've had, but it's good, quick, and affordable. They are stictly carry-out, but most Cantonese style places are. The food is always good, and I've always been pleased with my service there. The only downside is that they are a cash-only place, and I usually forget this until I pull out my card. Overall, pretty good!

My food is always top tier! It's my favorite Chinese restaurant in the city, I've been going since 2003. I get shrimp egg foo young with vegetable & shrimp fried rice. You must try an order of sautéed broccoli with white sauce! Food is always fresh and hot. The staff is polite. Can't ask for much more.

Terrible. The food is awful. The food I ordered was supposed to have vegetables (Lo mein). All onions. Waited 20 minutes for the food and there was literally 3 others after me. I am very disappointed.

I love this place. I eat here at least 3 times a month. The chicken is always tender and the rice is always steamy. I never had a bad dish from them. The food is always hot and ready when I arrive if I call it in and it doesn't take all day to prepare if I place a order in store. If you are looking for some awesome Chinese food this is the place to be.
