As an update to my original review, I Just attended a Napa Valley tasting free of charge at OWC that was open to the general public. The wines that Nick served were all very good ranging from Value Cabs in the $20's to more premium cabs in the $100 range. The star of the tasting was the 2016 Cade Estate Cab at $99/bottle that was quite good where WA rated it at 96 and JD rated it at 97. To be able to taste a wine of this caliber, gratis, is amazing as most wine businesses would charge you $20 - $30 for a tasting for quality wines like this. Bravo OWC! On top of that Nick, the owner, allowed me a repour on the Cade which helped seal the deal for me as I ended up buying 6 bottle. Being able to taste an expensive wine like this before throwing down my hard earned money makes a purchase decision like this so much easier and is greatly appreciated. There is another tasting coming up in the April 2020 timeframe with Brewer Clifton from Santa Barbara where Greg Brewer himself will be at OWC as part of the event. I am so excited for this upcoming event as I am a big fan of this winery which I recently visited in Dec 2019. Its events like this that separate OWC from its competition and makes them one of my favorite Brick and Mortar wine retailers in the area. This small business is really a gem of the Birmingham business community and well deserving of local support. Whether you are a casual wine person or a wine afficiando you definitely need to visit this store if you are in the area and make sure you get on their mailing list for upcoming wine events/tastings. You will not be disappointed. Five stars ++++

I was driving home on a snowy Saturday afternoon when I passed the recently opened Old Woodward Cellar. It has such a warm and inviting storefront with big windows that show all the wine in the shop that I couldn't help but stop in to visit. The owners Nick and Gina were very welcoming and I was able to sample a variety of cabernet sauvignon. There was also a gentleman who had brought a bottle of 2008 Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon and I was the lucky recipient of a taste. I've never had 36 year old wine and it was delicious! The store itself is very open with a beautiful climate controlled wine cellar for the reserve wines. There are also a variety of wines to choose from and Nick is quite knowledgeable about his inventory. There is also a separate tasting room. I ended up buying a bottle of champagne and will be definitely be back especially since I can walk to the store.

OWC is the best wine store in metro Detroit for me by far. Nick and Gina are incredibly friendly people and deeply knowledgeable about wine. The store's design is classy and understated, beautiful in a very functional way. Nick has recommended countless amazing bottles to me from refreshing Austrian Zweigelts to juicy Sicilian Frappatos and everything in between. Nick carries amazing high-end wine and a huge variety of great bottles at excellent prices (i.e. elegant wines, "wine geek" wines, natural wines, etc). If you are a serious wine drinker, this is absolutely the place for you.

"Refined yet approachable" best describes the selection at OWC - Old Woodward Cellar. The store caters to both women and men, so you won't find it intimidating. You will meet the owners Nick Apone and his lovely wife Gina who will happily guide you around the sparkling premises. Stop in and see for yourself; I promise you won't be disappointed. The store is located on Old Woodward in Birmingham and sits behind Bridal Couture. It is also accessible from Lincoln. Oh, and there is plenty of parking off of Landon St. next to the store entrance!

If you haven't found this gem of a wine store it's your loss. They say wine is about the experience and I've had a wonderful experience each time since my first visit. Nick and Gina are a wonderful couple and make everyone feel welcome. The selection is amazing with many wines from small producers and some normally sold direct to consumer only. Being from Northern California I've been spoiled by the access to wonderful wines and I'm normally hard pressed to find wine stores that genuinely impress me but OWC has done it. Congratulations to Nick, Gina and Roy for building something truly special.

This place makes me so happy. I went on the recommendation of a friend and wasn't disappointed. Not only is it tucked away like a little secret on a side street in Birmingham, I went in there almost against my will expecting it to be a little snooty and way over my price range. I found exactly the opposite. For someone who has just started to dabble in the wine arena, I found this husband and wife team who own the shop so welcoming and inviting. They were both very patient, And the shop has the best wine pricing in the area. Like better than any gas station, liquor store, Papa Joe's, other wine stores. Period. I was super surprised. Go here if you want a pretty place to pick out a nice bottle wine for a hostess gift or a party, and don't want to feel like you're somewhere you shouldn't touch anything :)

This is hands down the best wine store in Detroit. They have all the selection and price points you need. Every major wine region and wine maker you need to know is carried here. Simply amazing. I've been a yelp member over 4 years and this is the first time I've ever felt that I needed to post something

I know nothing about wine and felt so comfortable with the service in selecting a nice wine for a birthday dinner. They were kind, honest, helpful, patient and informative. I also grabbed a few steaks and those were great too. This place is a gem and is run by nice people.
