Food was good and my husband particularly enjoyed the live music. Nothing more a girl could ask for! Their shepherd's pie comforts my soul

A group of 8 of us met for dinner during the holiday season. We were seated right near the rear entrance, which was very convenient. We had one server, and she was very good; she didn't write down our orders, yet she got everything right. This same group had been here before, a few months ago, and at that time, I had a boxty, which I really enjoyed. This time, though, I ordered the Irish Trinity. I expected some outstanding dishes. Unfortunately, they were just ok. There was way too much salt and pepper in each of them. I only ate part of it & took the leftovers home. To temper the over-seasoning, I added mashed potatoes, and that helped. I believe the others in our group enjoyed their meals. Perhaps I just picked the wrong thing. But, I did like the ambiance and the service.

The place was slightly more than half full so no excuse to sit for 25 minutes and not even meet the server let alone get a beverage or place an order. I went to the bar to get drinks and the bartender said I had to wait for a server...so we left. Highly doubt I will return.

Always a reliable and solid place to eat! Inside is warm, dark, and welcoming. Staff are always friendly and attentive. They honored the Yelp check in for the donegal chips. Donegal chips are an absolute must! Chips and dip are so good. Be sure to also get the potato leek soup. The crunchy onions on top are the best and the soup itself is creamy. The entree menu is vast and has a little of everything. I went with the blackened chicken Caesar salad wrap with fries. The wrap was a good portion and flavorful. Fries are also yummy.

A few friends and I stopped here for an early lunch on a Saturday. The decor is very Irish with warm colors and heavy wood fixtures. The staff were very friendly and helped us make our choices. I chose the special Avocado Toast of the day which was a Michigan Salad. It didn't include lettuce but it did have dried cherries, blue cheese, and walnuts on top of a too thin layer of avocado paste on toast. While there could have been more avocado, the taste was excellent. One of my friends had the salmon and she loved it. It was very fresh and looked good too. She also got the build your own Bloody Mary - they had a huge set up of toppings and mixers you could add to the pre-poured vodka you are given in a large cup. She said it was very good.I'll definitely return - we enjoyed our meals and our visit.

They are understaffed, waitress was kind working hard. We ordered nachos and they were fried chips with nothing but loads of nasty melted cheese. We asked to return them for a burger and manager came out and said we are not taking them off the bill. Admits she's doesn't like the nachos but says nothing wrong with them. Terrible customer service. Like our time and money is not worth anything.

There are "Irish pubs" and there are Irish pubs. This is an Irish pub in every way that matters. There are places that have an Irish name and slap green paint on the walls, which is okay. But, O'Connor's feels like pubs I visited in Ireland years ago. There's dark wood on the bar, the tables, the chairs, and the ceiling. The only green is in the Christmas decorations. And, decorations are thoughtfully placed. Sorry for taking so much time on the decor, but it really does set the stage for the amazing food. To be honest, the food here is better - and certainly more varied - than most pubs in Ireland. My wife ordered the Salmon O'Connor, which has a gorgeous maple, mustard, and ale glaze coating the surface. The mashed potatoes are beautifully buttery. And, get this: she loved the roasted vegetables. She normally picks at them, then pushes them out of the way. But, there was a wonderful savory flavor that made chomping through chunks of carrots a pleasure. I couldn't decide between a few different things, so I ordered the Irish Trinity. This is a phenomenal way to try 3 excellent classics: Irish stew, shepherd's pie, and chicken pot pie. It's a bargain at $20. I had a bite of the Irish stew, and I thought I could easily have eaten a huge bowl. The beef is high quality, and there are more of those fantastic roasted vegetables. Then, I dug into the charred surface of the mashed potatoes covering the shepherd's pie, and enjoyed a spoonful of lean ground beef and more of those excellent vegetables. I think I actually said "mmmm" when I ate it. I could definitely see myself eating a full serving. The chicken pot pie was the only thing that wasn't flawless. But, after a dusting of salt, I loved it. The square of pastry crust gave a nice crispness to those spoonfuls of chicken and vegetables. And, of course, we got potatoes. The colcannon potatoes have cabbage and scallions mixed in. I loved the extra flavors in the mashed potatoes. My wife liked the regular potatoes better, but she surprised me when she liked these. She normally hates scallions in anything. There was also a huge drink selection beyond Guinness and Irish whiskey, with a variety of beer and mixed drinks. Even though it was busy, the service was excellent. And, the prices were reasonable for how excellent the food is. If this weren't a 45 minute drive, I could easily see this becoming a regular stop. As it stands, I'm trying to find an excuse to drive out this way so I can eat here again.
