I am in Warren working on a big project that concluded earlier today. I told my business partner that I was going to find an old school steak house and eat prime rib.Turns out Mr Paul's was 3 miles from me. As soon as I walked in I knew I hit the jackpot. I felt like I was transformed back into a classic 1970's steakhouses. Everything from the bar to the tables, to the booths screamed old school.I ate at the bar and regret not learning the bartender's name. She was amazing, knowing over half her customers by their first name. It made me want to go there every night for a week so I'd be a regular. The prime rib was the best I've ever eaten. It was 100% perfection.

Been to Mr. Pauls numerous times for lunch, and have loved it. Their sandwiches are great, especially their french dip and their panko chicken sandwich. Went for dinner the first time the other night and let me just say dinner was very "underwhelming" for their reputation. We started with calamari and their baked brie for apps. Both were very good. The calamari was on par with some of the best I have had. Next came soups and salads. The salads were average. Towards the soups, my wife had the clam chowder which was really good, I had the french onion, which had good flavor, but the onions were not cooked long enough and were barely caramelized. For dinner, I had the prime rib, which was, not the worst prime rib I have ever had, but it was no where near the best. My wife, ordered their cap steak which was a special. Most of table actually ordered the cap steak but they came back and told us they only had 1 left so my wife got it. She ordered it medium rare. When it came out, which it came out pre-sliced, there was barely any pink or red to be found on the steak it was clearly overcooked. My wife and I have both worked in the restaurant industry for years and know a properly cooked steak, an it was clearly cooked medium well. Not a huge issue, my wife told the waitress and she ended up getting a chicken Alfredo instead as they were now out of the cap steak. The issue came when the cook came out and started complaining to the manager on how the steak was properly cooked and that the customer didn't know what they were talking out. The Manager and the cook then start bashing my wife about how people don't know what they order and how they should just shut up and eat it and be grateful. The manager then asks the waitress what table it was that sent the steak back, which he then realizes he's standing 6' from my wife and that we heard everything, and they then hurry into the kitchen to probably finish their bashing of my wife. Her Alfredo comes out about 3 minutes later, which was gross. it was doused with butter, had way too much sauce for the amount of noodles and chicken (like 2 times as much sauce as what would be needed) and almost seemed like the cook purposely made it like this in retaliation for sending the steak back.It was a very poor experience for what is supposed to be one of the best steakhouses in the area. We will never return, not even for their lunch.

My first time was a week or so ago on a Monday night. Loved the place. Pleasant, relaxing ambiance. Great server. Had the Manhattan clam chowder. My favorite served at very few places. The table-side Caesar salad was, well, every bit as good as mine, and I thought mine was the best. One caveat. It's a chophouse. Stick to the chops. The bone-in New York strip was outstanding. The duck, however, was disappointing. It wasn't French or German or Czech. Couldn't really identify what the chef was going for. Couldn't identify the flavor. Same with the rice. And less satisfying was the fish. Two 2x3 inch pieces of halibut, I think, in the middle of an otherwise bare plate. Also an odd-flavored sauce. We'll certainly go again, but we'll stick with the meat.

I had such a wonderful time at Mr. Paul's chophouse this evening. I went for an early Valentine's Day dinner. We started off with cocktails and the calamari appetizer. The calamari was so flavorful and cooked to perfection for dinner. We got prime rib and a porterhouse steak. Both of them were cooked perfectly & spiced beautifully. The au jus sauce that came with both was a nice touch. Peter was the man who sat us and he was so sweet and such a gentleman very knowledgeable of the menu and answer any questions that we had our waitress was very attentive and did her job. Well I can't remember her name but thank you so much for the service that you provided. This was my first time coming to Mr. Paul's and it definitely will not be the last. I cannot wait to come back and try some more amazing food.

Updates: Let me be clear, I should have added more to my initial review to provide more clarity on the rating. We had to request water multiple times before it arrived. Ordered a cocktail and it also took forever to be delivered and when it was it also was WRONG! Bread was delivered to the tables surrounding us but not to us even after requests were made. I did share my concerns about my order and the response was apathetic at best. So to the owners response to this review, you clearly don't get it. When someone spends the sum of money that is necessary to dine at your restaurant, mediocrity is simply not acceptable. You do not get a chance for an off day without refunding or compensating your customer for not getting what they paid for. The last line to the owner's response should tell you all you need to know. You might have been around 50 years, but certainly you may not be 50 years more with this lack of humility and failure to own mistakes or when you missed the mark.

The coveted Mr Paul's. I don't know what I expected but not what I walked into. First impression walking in.. wow! This places looks like a 70's basement.. minus the Marlboro smell. Onto food: I got prime rib medium well. It was cooked fine. Didn't really have a taste. Covered it in zip and good to go. I know there is allure and I really think they could improve on a lot. Services was nothing to write home about. Our visit included prime rib, French onion, bottle of wine, salad. Just ok.

On biz and looked for an upper level Steakhouse in the area near my hotel. Most definitely an old school steakhouse. Waitress was okay, nothing great, to the point, what else can I bring you type. I got the prime rib and it was far from special, very chewy, I should have gotten the upscale $56 version. I tried the famous Cesar Salad (prepared table side) and it was so saucy I couldn't eat it all. Way way too much dressing and I like lots of dressing. Wine was interesting. By the glass wine were mid to lower tiered options. I got the Freakshow Red Blend which is a $10-$15/bottle from Total Wine. There were some high end selections on the menu but only by the bottle. I would have paid more for better wine. Overall certainly not a Capital Grill, Del Frisco's or Eddie Vs. I hate to be critical of a family business but this one misses the mark for an upscale chophouse.
