Motown Cafe & Grill

Motown Cafe was awesome and one of my favorite surprise Detroit breakfast spots. The first point I'd make about this spot is it's an incredible bang for your buck. If you took their Catfish and Grits and stuck in a Downtown, Midtown or Eastern Market location, it'd cost at least $27. It comes with 3 huge filets of Catfish, 2 Eggs and Grits. Here, it's only $18 and there is a 0% chance you're not taking some home unless you're Kobyashi. The Chicken and Waffles was fantastic as well, and again, you're getting a huge portion for around $14. You are almost guaranteed to be taking some home. I was super impressed.The Catfish was well made and didn't have a ton of batter caked on to it which is my only deal breaker when it comes to Catfish. I put some hot sauce on it and it was fantastic with the Grits and Eggs. The Chicken on the chicken and waffles and juicy, hot and huge. It had a flavorful batter on it, but it wasn't too much to where you felt like they were chicken tenders off the kids menu.The service was awesome and our waitress was incredibly accommodating (Multiple Coffee refills, brought out a bunch of condiments, nice). The store owner was incredibly nice as well. The inside is a clean diner with comfortable booths. You're not packed in here and your party isn't spilling into other people's tables like other spots. It's a very relaxing spot to eat midday when you have things coming up and just need peace. This area of Van Dyke doesn't have many restaurants, so go and patronize this one that's a bit off the beaten path. You won't leave disappointed or hungry!

Baby, it's a yes. It's a yes, a yes, a yes. Lemme put you on! Order from Uber eats! Now yes, you're gonna pay a tad bit more BUT! The special I got was buy one get one! I asked for one grilled and one fried and omg they gave it to me! The hashbrowns aren't burnt or crunchy! They actually have a decent amount of potatoes in them! Portions. Oh yeah. I could barely eat the whole thing in one sitting. Honestly I preferred the grilled over the fried. They weren't nasty but the grilled BANG - U HEAR ME!I've never been here before so I wasn't sure if it was a regular coney or what- but lemme tell you ITS NOT!If you're thinking about it- go ahead

I had the gyro omelette this morning with hash browns. I had it delivered to the house. The breakfast was The breakfast came nice and hot. Very fresh.

I had no previous knowledge of this restaurant prior to running across them on Door Dash.The menu looked great so I thought I would give them a try.I was famished and wanted to be greedy so I ordered a fried pork chop breakfast with scrambled eggs and pancakes.The pork chops (2) were thick-cut, a great value for the $16. I wished they hadn't been overcooked - dry with a burnt coating. On a good day, they would probably be quite yummy. The seasoning was tasty.My scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly. No complaints there.However the pancakes were incredibly weird to me. It's difficult to explain just what was wrong with them. On the outside they were golden brown and looked scrumptious. BUT, the only thing that I can compare them to is a foam mattress. The mouthfeel was strange and they had no flavor.Based on the reviews of others, I would probably try Motown Cafe again and order something safer.

It felt overpriced to me. I tried the breakfast sandwich and it was 2 for 20. They dont really offer a premium experience for a high dining price. The waitress was stingy with the generic chefs choice hot sauce packets but the chef was generous with the bacon. They also werent playing motown when i visited.

This was delicious service great, and delicious food can't go wrong , it's busy sometimes , but definitely worth the wait. Never heard of a Turkey chop but it was great

They are from a place where they don't care about bugs in your food or dirty hands.. That's there way of living so they don't see nthn wrong with it.. but I'm telling you don't eat here.. I had a couple bugs in my food n she saw it n said just cover it.. and tried to make me pay for it.. No!this place is nasty! and they food isn't good like it use to be.. I'll never come back!

Went there to grab a coffee and a breakfast sandwich today ask to use the bathroom but she replied the bathroom was closed sounded weird to me being it's a restaurant and no warning labels on it said by this rude Caucasian lady at the register not pleasant at all I still ask for a coffee and ask what's wrong with the bathroom she still was hesitant to speak.... And said it's for paying customers. I was mad as hell I live and do work in that area paying customer for years and family that was judging the situation wrong I understand bums,trouble makers etc. but come on!!!!!!!! I will let everyone know to dodge this place at all cost because how she acted she been running customers away so everyone stay away from this place. I will let all my family in that neighborhood know as well

The prices are higher and quality has went down. Plus the include tips on your check, even if it's only one person.

I went here this morning in an attempt to buy breakfast for me and my son. I was told I could not order off the kids menu for my disabled son who is not able to come in especially with Covid. He was however in the car. My son is 2 years old and has several health concerns and as a mom I try to keep him away from too many people. Because of that we were discriminated against and I was not allowed to order for him. I am asking anyone who support parents of disable children to not support this business. I was clearly profiled in more ways than one. Don't spend money with these terrible people! and because I didn't want to unpack my child's special equipment to take him inside they threaten to call cps on me !
