Motor City Tacos

Motor City Tacos is located inside a Mexican convenience store. So it's most definitely meant for either carry out or a casual dine in meal. We had decided to dine in -- and this may have been our biggest mistake of the meal. We ordered within a few minutes and started with guacamole and chips. Tasty and served quickly. But that's where things went down hill. We must have hit the take out rush. We watched orders get packed up and packed up. For 10, 20, 30, 40 minutes. Again, this isn't fine dining. We assumed we'd have the tacos and quesadilla prepared and served quickly. The two servers who also did the carry out prep were so busy. Not with bringing stuff out to tables or with communicating the delays. But with packing order after order. Clearly we didn't time our dine in experience well. And it seemed as if dine in wasn't a priority or even important to them. Other tables of people there prior to us also experienced the same waiting for so long. Now that aside, the food itself was super tasty. I got the Quesadilla that had steak, peppers and onions grilled inside it. Very tasty , though not authentic. But that's what I like. My husband got theCarnitas taco which he said was excellent, an Asada taco which he was was very good. And a Pork tamale which he said was good. We would come back but not likely during a takeout heavy time. So the question is "when is a better time to dine in?"

I'm not sure I thought this place was just ok. The service was good but the food was just kind of bland.

Very unassuming small Mexican restaurant that offers a big big taste punch! After reading the other YELP reviews I had high hopes for this business and was not disappointed. This place is definitely authentic from the menu being in Spanish, to the staff speaking only Spanish amongst themselves, to the way the food is prepared and the ingredients being used. This is really Mexican food at its best!The Taco's as mentioned in the other reviews are quite good as is the Guacamole. The star for us though are the burrito's that were very well made and packed full of delicious flavor. For me, these are the best Burrito's I have had in this area and stack up with the best That Mexican Town in Detroit has to offer. No small feat!As mentioned in other reviews the place is quite small and fills up quickly. They also do carry out which is what we do and is a great way of getting around potential issues with being unable to get a table during busy times.Overall a super good Mexican restaurant that needs to be sampled to be appreciated and a place you absolutely need to check out especially if you are a fan of Mexican cuisine. You will not be disappointed.

Who is always amazing and well priced and friendly help usually twice a week the street tacos are amazing and also the refried beans and I really love the carrots and the radishes and the jalapeños

Ordered the Pork & Steak Tacos with the broth. They were delicious. So far experience has been very positive.

YUMMM!! The loaded street tacos are fantastic. The ambience was perfect and very authentic. The staff was very friendly and the food was made quickly. I definitely recommend it.

Their food here is really good to help is real friendly and their tacos are to die for best place that I've been through besides in Mexico

Great food but I have to say the staff isn't friendly if you are white. It seems pretty regular in their reviews for taking longer / poor service to anyone who isn't Mexican. I had a similar experience the other day when I went with a few of my buddies. Everything was fine till we order our food and drinks. the waiter brought everyone's drinks but mine, After asking a few time for my beverage it never came. Finally once the food came out, I finally got my horchata. Then my food( which was actually good) birria tacos they didn't give me consume which was odd because my buddies did. Then when asking for some they charged me $2.50 for it, which my boys were not charged. Definitely won't support a business like this. Great tacos though, they just don't like gringos i guess.

The food is amazing but the service treated my white friend unfairly on two separate times, making him wait for far longer for his food and drink than others. We sat down and ordered one time and saw multiple people come in after us and get their food before my friend could even get his horchata. Then they charged him extra for consumé with his birria tacos, which is something that always comes for free with your tacos at literally any other location. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have charged him if was hispanic. Being charged 3 dollars for soup that is a byproduct of making the tacos is ridiculous. Additionally, twice in a row I've tried to come here during their business hours just to see that they're closed with no online notice or anything. The first time they were closed 5 hours early (or probably were never open). Advertise your business hours correctly and treat everyone fairly, until then I'm recommending everyone go literally next door to Taqueria San Jose where the service is incredible kind and friendly.

Great, authentic Mexican food in a lively atmosphere. This is a gem of a place. The moment you walk in the aroma of authentic Mexican cuisine greets you. I you are like me your mouth will start watering right then. The dining area was packed with happy customers enjoying some delicious meals. The city of Waterford is blessed to have a thriving Mexican community and some of the Best Mexican restaurants in the State of Michigan. Motor City Taco absolutely belongs among them.
