Amazing, I had the chicken again and it was perfection . Everything was delicious. Hunger is the best sauce and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. It is unfortunate that the meat market went under, but the take out food section seems to be doing great. They have every thing from sandwiches to turkey chops; they even have salmon. Next time I plan on trying the steak.

I know there are a lot of mixed reviews about this place, but from Mt experience, I'd give 5 stars. I got fried chicken elsewhere but wanted soul food sides, so I got candid yams, macaroni, and greens. They were all so good. The greens had ribs falling off the bone in them, so they weren't from the can, as i know some people said on here in the reviews. The macaroni was homemade, and candid yams had good flavor. Wasn't expensive at all and good portions. Will return.

My first time having them. I was referred to them by a family member. I ordered full slab of ribs and the rib tip dinner. BBQ sauce was amazing. My complaint is that the rib tips had bones much much like riblets from like apple bs. I've never has rib tips with bones in them. Needless to say..... I'm disappointed

Not impressed by the butcher shop or the breadth of offerings, but the barbecue was very good. Got a brisket sandwich to go and really enjoyed it. Brisket was tender, roll was fresh and tasty and guy behind the counter was polite and helpful. I'd go back for takeout again.

This review is for the deli. It was fantastic!We stopped by after landing at DTW airport and were heading out of town and found this place on Yelp (of course). We pulled up on a rainy holiday (they were open) and thought it may be a little sketch for a deli. But many times, those can be the best places.My wife and I both ordered Turkey Reubens. It seemed to take forever to prepare - and then discovered they were grilled. The end result was awesome! The perfect combination between meat, cheese and sauerkraut. I would make a point to drive here again to get this sandwich.

Whoa the word pleasantly surprised is an understatement.... I pass by this place often and I always see people coming in and out but because it just says "meats" on the outside I never thought it was a soul food restaurant....BUT THEN one day I noticed a small sign underneath the "meat market" sign that said "soul food" so I thought maybe I'll try them out.... Very sketchy on the outside but Omg the soul food was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I got the half slab dinner with Mac n Cheese and Sweet potatoes, the ribs were perfect - ALL MEAT, no fat or gristle and very well prepared not too charred or over cooked....perfect sauce, not too sweet not too salty, actually tasted homemade as well! The mac n cheese was nice, soft and CHEEZY and the sweet potatoes were NOT FROM THE CAN! Something I appreciate seeing how hard it is to find soul food places that actually make their sides FROM SCRATCH, not from CANS!!! My only disappointment was that they didn't throw in a piece of cornbread with my food after reading the reviews and hearing about how good their corn bread was I should've made sure I asked for some but I figured it came with the meal...it's all good, I WILL be back anyways so I'll catch it next time!

Always good food coming out of this place. I can't say about the deli (which I hear is good) or ordering cuts (from the inside it looks like they're all out... like you come in and they'll say to you "We're all out"). The meals are always plentiful and priced well for the area. Brisket could use a bit more flavor and the sides go quick, but its always a good place to visit for a quick fix.

Love there food and there services! I hear that they are relocating not sure where and they also have a food truck and they also do catering looking forward to having food catered

I am writing this review regarding the peach cobbler. I was very disappointed on 08/09/23. The cobbler crust was not light. It was thick and had no flavor. The peaches and juice were tart and had a flavor that was very unpleasant. Too much of some spice. May have been allspice or nutmeg. I am not sure which spice. I have had peach cobbler from them previously and it was very good. There was no consistency. It's great having a soul food restaurant in the area. Please be consistent. AJR

Ordered 1/4 smothered chicken, received way more than that [3 thighs, 3 legs] with greens and dressing and cornbread thrown in. Service was good. Everything was salted to an extreme. Greens were not edible due to the amount of salt. All I could taste was salt. The rice under the chicken was mushy and overcooked. The dressing was mushy and bland, no flavor, tasted like wet cornbread. Chicken was okay, salty. Gravy and cornbread were good.I think my blood pressure rose from the salt after the first bites. Couldn't finish it and I was so disappointed. Ruined my appetite for the rest of the night. Wouldn't recommend.
