I consider Matsuchan "home cooking" from someone else's home. The food is authentic, unfussy, well made, and served in generous portions.I would highly recommend one of the lunch or dinner specials, whatever they happen to be that day as you get a great deal of food with nice variety.I've been coming to Matsuchan for 30 years and it's just as good now as it was then.

My friend arrived first and grabbed the last available table during a busy lunch rush. I am grateful I did not have to wait since I tend to get hangry. Others following us added their names to the waitlist. The restaurant is small with just a handful of tables. One chef, it appears, prepared all the meals. I barely glanced at the menu; I already knew I was having the ramen. The only question was which one. My friend selected the eel bowl while I had the miso pork soup. The latter was served with sliced pork, bamboo shoots, fish cake, and seaweed. The broth was full of flavor; I enjoyed every slurp. I appreciated that the meal was sizeable and inexpensive - I was able to stretch it to two meals. We did not linger given the number of people waiting.

We've been back recently and our new favorites are the duck soup ramen, the curry ramen, and the onigiri!!! Still love this place as always.

This place is small and homey. The food is very adorable and their lunch specials even more so. I love going here because I know what I'm going to get. It's nothing fancy, with just one chef behind the counter, but it checks all my boxes. Excellent food and service. For such a small place they have such a large menu & many types of ramen. I recommend the curry ramen to all of those around me and all of them who have tried it love it as well.

Matsuchan is as authentic as you can get! It's owned by a very adorable family and the inside can only sear like 12 people. You can't miss the line of people waiting to get in either! I had corresponded with the business on their instagram and asked about vegetarian and vegan options and they sent me an entire list of things I could eat - UNREAL. I got some umeboshi onigiri which had the perfect amount of saltiness and deliciousness! I ordered their creamy vegetarian ramen and added and egg and the portion size was very generous.Be prepared to take a lot home!! 10/10 would recommend and would come back!!

This tiny little mom and pop Japanese restaurant is so good. It's a small hidden gem in a shopping center that looks really not noticeable. They have their own parking so that is easy. The tough part is getting a table. The seats are limited and there are not that many spots to choose from. It's super hot in there though, both from the hvac and sun light. So much direct sunlight comes in so it's alway like a sauna even in the winter. We selected the curry set and the udon with a side of rice ball. It was all super delicious. We ate it quickly and had to leave because it was so warm in there while eating hot food. The food is so good and quick, totally worth it.

Super yummy ramen, but the takoyaki wasn't as crispy as it should have been. Small, cozy restaurant with authentic food--a staple of Canton, MI! Service is quick and cordial.

I looked up Matsu Chan. It means "small pine." The simple aesthetic of peace and quiet this understated restaurant conveys fits that name without effort. Small, nondescript and homey, if feels as if you've been invited to sit and eat the fare of a home kitchen. Without exception, every item we've tried is wonderful. From their shrimp shumai to ramen, eel bowl to gyoza and fried rice to yakisoba, it's served quickly with kindness and is invariably delicious! What a find! The attention the tiny staff pays to every detail of your meal is matched by the quality of service. Don't sleep on this local gem!
