Marios Golden Nugget

Don't let the unassuming building exterior and parking lot fool you, this is a top-notch, excellent family dining establishment. We reside in Sterling Heights, by Lakeside Mall, where we are surrounded by lots of delicious restaurant options but we decided to explore the Oxford/Lapeer area and stopped at this Marios for a bite to eat. The prices are a bit on the high side but you certainly get what you pay for. The food is homemade and served at the proper temperature. I ordered the French Onion soup and loved it. The cheese atop the soup was smooth and not chewy. The broth, onions and even the croutons were cooked to perfection for this type of soup...ate/drank every bit of it. I also ordered the sweet potato fries and they were the best I have ever tasted. They were crispy and perfectly salted on the outside and soft/steamy on the inside...perfection! Mom had the country omelet. Mom had ice tea and I had coffee - our bill was $44.00 after tipping; a lot of $ in my opinion for two people to have brunch. The inside is very cozy with booths, tables and stools as sitting options. There are a couple of tv's with one or two of them NOT turned to sports...PTL and thank you. The service was excellent! Our server was very patient, knowledgeable and kind. My 86 yr mom has Parkinson's making her voice soft, decision making a challenge and often cranky because she misses her old self. Our server was very accommodating with my mom and with me as I can be running on a thin edge most of the time, lol. We loved it and hope to return soon.

Just a normal family dining place that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner? Absolutely not! Best tasting coffee, menu variety and exceptional service. This place is a well oiled machine with always familiar faces working. Yesterday's breakfast was no exception with the four of us all enjoying breakfast and coffee. Let me just say whatever one orders, there is disappointment or sending food back. Keep up the great job!

The food is good and the service is pretty good here they normally have quite a few servers working. The prices are pretty high here for most items on the menu.

Excellent breakfast place with a rather large selection of not only breakfast items but a large lunch & dinner menu too. My wife loves the SFBA Omelette (spinach, bacon, feta, avocado) while our granddaughter goes for the different types of crepes or pancakes like Nutella or Berries and Cream. I tend to try different dishes every time we go but a classic for me is a Vegetarian Omelette with American Cheese smothered with Ciney Chili...Mmm-Mmm Good !

Excellent food and customer service! The only con is that it's super overpriced. I recommend their berry crepe and burgers. Everything on the menu seems to be homemade and delicious but it'll bust the bank for a family dinner, you mise we'll get hibachi.

The food is pretty good. The biscuits were actually the best I've ever had. This was our second visit since we dont get to Oxford often. The problem is their seating everyone close together. We were one of three occupied booths with lots of open seating. The next 2 parties to arrive had multiple small children. The sat tham all right next to us instead of spacing diners out. Our meal is now ruined by squealing kids. Same thing last visit. I know they do it purely for their convenience but i hate it so much we won't be back. Consider your guests!

Excellent mini Greek salad. Great Greek dressing, the BEST I have ever had. Robyn was my attentive server.

Nice little family diner! Staff is always friendly, the food is what you'd expect for a small diner. Good place for breakfast.

Breakfast is the meal that's home cooked. Went three times for dinner. I questioned if the meatloaf was homemade, instant potatoes and canned gravy. Hamburger was overpriced. Club sandwich was overpriced, and had tough lettuce and flavorless turkey. The steak was good and we were told that it was hand cut. Nice server and environment.
