Mandee's Jazz Cafe

This time of day it's pretty quiet. It was pretty clean and the waitress was very friendly and patient. Everything comes to-go. I wish as good as the food was, they would plate it. Otherwise, one of my favorite places to grab some good food from. For 2 servings of pasta. I spent roughly about $45 and the tab automatically added the gratuity for the staff. The lemon drops we wanted. The sugar they had NONE. BUT..... The bartender (in my t-pain voice) introduce my associate and I to what is known as a White Tea shot and baby it was sooooo... Good now I wanna tell y'all about the FOOD, great. The music was good too.

So, at first I felt over looked. It was 6pm, not toooo many people in here, but enough to keep the server busy I guess. Once I was noticed the server was apologetic and catered to me. The drinks, cheaper then anywhere in the city! The menu had enough options, like... I could'nt decide what I wanted. A fellow patron suggested the $3 lamb chops so I went with that and a side salad and my friend went with the steak Alfredo. Well damn, the salad was soooooo fresh and the lamb chops... sweet & savory!!! I even had to take a bite of my friend Alfredo. Ohhh my so delicious. I will be back!!! I want to taste everything on the menu ok. Just delicious!!!!!

There are no bells and whistles involved with this establishment but its a solid place to hang out. The food is a classic bar menu with a few extra's (like crab legs) and is very well seasoned. Its the "Cheer's" of the Eastside of Detroit. I know a lot of Yelper's don't venture this far east in the city, but from my experience it is worth the trip. In addition to the food, they have a $2 and $4 drink menu that runs until midnight.If you're visiting for the first time, like I did today, I would go early for after work dinner and drinks. I came around 7:30 and stayed for 2hrs. The bartender was also the waiter. He surprisingly was able to cater to everyone very efficiently, but not sure if that would be true later on when its probably more crowded. Also, there is security at the door and a dance floor with a stripper pole, so my guess is that after 11ish the place turns into an all out club scene. Overall, very good experience tonight! Don't be fooled it's not a jazz cafe. No jazz was ever played while I was in there. Just normal club music. The food was trying to be fancy bar food. I must say the salad was good and fresh. I ordered hot wings. Not so great. Steak fries were good, but it's no way to mess that up! My friend had beef stroganoff. Terrible!!! It was basically Alfredo sauce cheese and a bit of beef & potatoes. Stay away from that. Others in my group had potato skins it seem to be ok. Drinks were poured normal nothing special. I did appreciate the bar tender. Who came from the bar to take our order and wait on us. This is a neighbor bar with food!

This is the perfect place to go when you want hot, delicious food and cold, strong drinks. There is not a lot of ambience, but I like the food and drinks. I would definitely recommend this place if you're in the need for a night out on a budget. :-)

Love their food. It's always hot and fresh and tasty. The atmosphere and Dj are always true Detroit Vibes.

Over priced hood bar with jazz lounge and cafe in its name to make it sound appealing. Goodluck if you park..

Stopped here with bf for lunch. The only area lit was the bar, a guy was sweeping the carpet with a broom near the other tables. This place was filthy! The glasses were dusty and dirty, all the liquor bottles had black electrical tape around the spouts. To keep out bugs? Before our food arrived, the barmaid/waitress plunked down a huge bottle of hand sanitizer (classy touch). After observing all of the above, I was afraid to eat the meal, and we wished we had just left. Gross.
