LYV Detroit

Lyv is a newish restaurant located on Livernois (Ave of Fashion) just south of 8 Mile. Parking is somewhat limited with a small adjacent lot on the side of the building and along the street on the front and other side. First let's start with the ambiance.... the decor in the dining room is classy with murals, gold trim, and chandeliers. There are booths, tables and bar seating. If you turn to the right, there is an opulent looking lounge adorned with black velvet furnishings and gold accents and a gas fireplace along the side of one whole wall. Many nights I've noticed a DJ in the lounge spinning old school R&B tunes. Next on to the service, you are always greeted by a friendly host/hostess at the entrance and guided to your choice of seating. The servers and bartenders are attentive and knowledgeable about the menu always willing to make recommendations. And then there's the food! It is simply delicious. The chef takes pride in preparing traditional soul food dishes sure to please most any palate. There is a late-night menu and Soulfood Sundays on the weekend. The only drawback is that all menu items are not available at all times; so, if you've come to like a particular item that's say available on the happy hour menu, you will have to wait until that time to have that item. But the food is so good, it's worth the wait!

This was my first visit there and I liked the interior there it's like 2 Sides of the building which would be the lounge area where live entertainment was playing but we Sat on the other side in a booth which was nice. The Drink " focus on me " was Great 8/10 for me. I order catfish meal which was bout a 8 for me too. Service was A little slow so come with patience it's still new so working kinks.

I had a party of 10. We were celebrating my daughter's birthday there. The ambiance was great. The DJ, Mike Clark was amazing. I need his play list . The hostess was not only beautiful but personable. Our server Brice was top tier. The only complaint was the food took a long time but it was worth the wait. As a group. We were completely satisfied.

Came to Lyv and got drinks as the kitchen had just closed at midnight. I got the strawberry lemon drop my girlfriends got moscato, moscow mule, and a suprise drink from the waiter. Personally I didn't taste any strawberry and the bartender was a bit heavy handed with the Tito's. The ambiance in the private room was so jazzy and upscale. I'll come back to give the food a chance and because we had kind and attentive waiters.

Food, service, and ambiance was great! We had the catfish, greens, Mac n cheese. All great.

Bar staff great, wait staff is terrible, food is clearly Walmart food. The wait in between beverages was unsatisfactory. Crossed this one off the list!

Ambiance very nice and everyone was very nice. We sat at the bar near the open kitchen. We gave the place a three because the food was not portioned correctly compared to the price. The mac and cheese was too dry. The broccoli was more like garnish and too hard. I received one beef spare rub it was okay but not hot. The fries not hot and steak bites 20 bucks for a small portion. Lastly the cooks should wear gloves. I noticed all 3 had no gloves but handling food. I would probably come back for the lounge and maybe try something different if the cooks start wearing gloves. Advice correct the portion for some of the items. Or lower the price for small portions. We dine out all often and we don't mind paying for good food and our dollars worth.

First they make it seem like it's reservation only & upscale but it's really not it's a nice place kinda remind me of motorcity buffet tho food mid I had catfish greens & mac Catfish was fishy but also it didn't give catfish it was more like whiting the greens didn't have no meat in them it gave glory greens honestly the Mac was good the fountain drinks were absolutely disgusting they should clean the machine even the water tasted like faucet water I had to dilute it with lemons the waistress was nice & attentive tho I probably would go back just try something else

We arrived about 5:30 for dinner, and it was empty. They asked if we had a reservation and we did.... Server was actually part of management staff... service was slow and awkward. Several staff member gathered near our table to roll napkins and eat. Food was good... we won't be back, if you're going to charge an automatic 18% gratuity, then earn it.

Very nice vibe! Service great. Very attentive. Live entertainment on Friday. DJ Saturday. Soul food Sundays. Menu has variety and drinks are GOODT (Jasmine)! Will update after food!
