Lu & Carl's Bar and Grille

Came with my family on a Friday night and had a wonderful time! We showed up a little early and missed the live music, but with our toddler at the table, we wouldn't have lasted too much longer. Service was great and food came out very timely.I ordered the short rib burrito which was very rich in flavor coming mainly from the meat, but the meal overall was lacking for $20. For a $20 burrito, the presentation and size was underwhelming. Would have loved to see a chipotle sauce, Guac, pico, or something on the side other than shredded lettuce and some Mexican rice. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals and experience but agreed that it was a little pricey for what we received.

We had a fantastic waitress! Chrissy was her name. The food was very good....really like those fried pickles. Loved all the pictures of dogs on the walls! Will definitely be back!!

Updating my review. Great place, great food, great service! Thursday night trivia is the hilight of my week! They have live music and a DJ on the weekend.Tuesday nights are industry night so drinks are cheaper! One other night they have $6.99 burger. They do a Bloody Mary bar at brunch. Good place for the family or a night out!

My family and I visited Lu's the other day and had a nice time! We had a party of 8 and did not have a very long wait for dinner on a Friday night (granted we ate around 5:30 PM so the dinner rush was just beginning). I ordered the black and blue burger and thought that it was delicious, although I found it odd that the default side was salsa and chips. Regardless, delicious food, a great waitress, and an overall nice time!

I've been coming here for over 20 years. It's definitely one of my favorite restaurants in town. Good food, service and drinks. It's also dog friendly.

Came here on the way to the airport from up north. Super fun atmosphere, the food was great, and everything was reasonably priced. I got the Carl club with a mimosa. The turkey on that club was the real deal!!! Carved turkey, not just deli meat. The chips and salsa that come with the meal are fresh, definitely not bagged chips and Pace. They even split a plate for my boyfriend and I and gave us individual salsa cups. Thanks!

My friends and I stopped here for a late lunch on the way back to Grand Rapids after shopping at IKEA all day. It was a pretty easy stop off the highway, and despite some construction in town we found parking pretty easily. It was pretty empty when we arrived, but by the time we were paying our checks it was very full with the early dinner crowd.Service was quick (maybe even a little rushed), my beer was nice and cold, and they have a pretty big menu. Seems like anyone could find something they like. I was actually torn between 3 or 4 different things, but settled on the Carl's Club sandwich. It comes with a side of tortilla chips and salsa. The chips were decent; not too oily, but tasted like they came out of a big bag (a little stale) though the menu says they are housemade. The salsa was pretty watery, so I didn't really eat it. The sandwich was good! A very generous amount of turkey, and I liked it on the 9 grain bread. My friend got the Lu and Carl's Salad that also looked really good. Overall, I'd say it was good, not great, but I would go again. Similar to another reviewer I debated between 3 and 4 stars, and since there wasn't really anything wrong I'm going with 4. I might end up bringing my husband here in a few weeks, since we need to go back to IKEA and this was a nice, easy spot to get to. Plus, I really want to try their wet burrito (I love a good wet burrito!).

Visited tonight for dinner. It was busy but we got fast service. Reliable food and really tasty. One of our favorite bars in Brighton.

This place is awesome!! Such a cute outdoor patio to sit and eat at. The entire inside is covered by photos of dogs and their names, which was adorable. The food was awesome! We especially liked the short rib burrito, sliders, and the short rib sandwich!

terrible service. 45 minutes until close and she didn't serve us a single beer. wouldn't even let us walk into the door with out saying "bye bye" without us getting a word out. looked like a cool place, but the workers are selfish and would rather go home and smoke weed then serve one more customer and make some extra money. like get a grip. if this is your job then do it.
