In the war of traditional Jewish delis in and around Southfield, Michigan, this place doesn't win or place. *Maybe* it shows. Here's why: Ambiance: The interior is cheerful: modern, bright, with picnic tables featuring comfortable wooden benches--and plenty of them, meaning this place is usually pretty darn busy. Perhaps because it's centrally located? It's NOT because their Reubens are great. They're just okay.4/5Food: First time here and the impression is not great, although it's okay. First, they forgot to put my sandwich on the onion roll I asked for. Even though the order taker had me repeat it twice. Second, the supposed (grilled) rye bread isn't really rye, and wasn't grilled with a crusty, buttered finish. (Maybe margarine? Inferior choice.) There are no caraway seeds, it tastes like a thin Texas toast--so it's a cheap substitute for the kind of rye a Reuben should come with, standard. The supposed Swiss cheese doesn't taste Swiss at all, but very bland and no Swiss flavor. They cheaped out here.A minor beef about the pickle: You don't get a choice of old or new dills. That's STANDARD at a Jewish deli.Where it hits near bottom is in flavor. The corned beef taste is WEAK. It's not overly salty, a good thing, but the special taste of corned beef should be front and center, and it's just lacking here. They must have cheaped out in the meat sourcing. I wouldn't call a bad sandwich, but it's not what a Jewish deli is all about. Even if it's not billed as a Jewish deli, in Southfield Michigan with its great Jewish cultural tradition of Jewish delis, this one MUST compete--but fails on many counts.For all of the reasons above, and especially because a Jewish deli MUST, first and foremost, deliver a GREAT corned beef sandwich, especially a Reuben, I give a low score.2/5Service: Had to wait a little bit at the counter and quite a bit longer for the order to be done but it's lunch time--sort of a rush, 2 PM on a weekday. No big deal. But for the order taker to miss one of my key requests correctly after it she repeated it--two mentions of the onion roll--means she's not paying attention. Worse Lou's deli ever Between the female cook LOUDLY cursing out a co worker in the back and the NYE almost hour long wait for my sandwich which was prepared incorrectly and DRY, I've had it with this location. Also, why do ALL the ladies working the front have attitudes. Customers waiting for their food were just shaking our heads in embarrassment for them. 1 star cuz I had to add a rating.

They are good at what they're good at. Reubens and other sandwiches are always delicious... expensive, but good. Decided to get a grilled chicken salad this time as I wanted something more healthy. They give you enough dressing for the 'salad' part, but the tiny morsels of chicken are so scarce that I don't think I can even call it a grilled chicken salad. More like chicken bits instead of bacon bits. On a garden salad with eggs. Service is better than most other locations. Much more laid back. Definitely the best location, however practices are 100% carried over throughout all locations in regards to portions and food quality. Portions, meh. Quality, good. Only 3 stars because of the portions of what matters, which is a constant.

Delicious. Big portions. Good prices. Worth every penny! You are able to customize any sandwich you want as well. I did that with Sara and added lettuce and cheese. Yum!!

This place is so ghetto the staff was arguing while taking orders. I got everything I needed, but personal problems should be dealt with after work. The Guy cashier was into it with the cook right in front of the customers, but the female staff kept it professional. So I will recommend it but they gotta do better customer service for the people that's waiting extra long for the sandwich or meal that already super expensive.

I went to Lou's Deli in Southfield MI on January 25,2025 and spent over 300.00 dollars on sandwiches but left a 50.00 tip. I live in Grand Rapids MI and we got sandwiches about 11 sandwiches plus some extra things for our family in Grand Rapids MI. The corn beef this time was very SALTY and we couldn't eat the sandwiches. I came on December 24,2024 and spent over 275.00 and my grandson forgot to tip but I made sure my husband double the tip and we ordered about 8 sandwiches and my family LOVED LOVED the sandwiches when we brought them back to Grand Rapids MI. I will support you but please have a comment section on your website to tell about my issues. Thank you Lou's Deli.

My Corned beef sandwich was very tasty and well made however; you will get hood service attitude from some of the cashiers

The language and service are deplorable!While placing my order, I heard "MF" 3 times... hoe twice, n***a 5 times... shyt countless times FROM THE STAFF - cooks and cashiers!! And albeit, they were engaged in FRIENDLY conversation!! There were 3-4 seasoned ladies who obviously were uncomfortable and said they would never comeback. I'm with them!If you cant respect your customers. Whats the point?

Food ok. Service was horrible.. was treated rude by the cashier. He was un professional and disrespectful.
