Pastrami Sandwich
I tried to make it edible by adding sour cream, but who am I kidding? NEVER again, will I order loaded potato skins... Wtf I'M GOOD!!!
Hot pastrami on grilled rye, lettuce + tomato + mustard
Burned cake that absolutely should not have been sold. Rude customer service when I called to complain. Sent message on IG no response.
Needs a cleaning.
Cakes burned so badly it tasted like smoke. Disgusting. They knew it was horrible when it was wrapped and when they handed it to me.
Even the pineapple was burned.
Onion Rings and Counterman's Treat
Should be a corned beef egg roll but they forgot the corned beef

Best corned beef in Orlando. Since I was a little boy, I would always get the Dinty Moore with extra meat and extra Russian dressing. The texture of the beef is unmatched across all of the Detroit deli spots worth mentioning. Can't come back to the city without one!

I have been wanting to try this place for a while now and I finally made it there. After reading the mixed reviews I wanted to check it out. The wall of plastic you order through is a bit off putting. I wanted to get the pastrami but I had no idea that was build your own pick. I should have gotten the corned beef. The pastrami was delicious I just don't think I chose the right toppings. Served with crispy deli pickles. I also ordered the deviled eggs but was sad to see them tossed in the bag upside down; very messy and hard to eat they had a nice sweet flavor. The main problem is the cleanliness or lack thereof. It could use a deep deep cleaning. Also there are people hustling to get your dollars. A guy was selling one stick of incense for $5. Not sure if I will go back but I might want to try the corned beef egg rolls.

I had read online that this was the place to go for corned beef. Well we tried the pastrami today and I'm sorry to say I won't be going back. The meat seemed very low quality and I was not impressed at all. Nothing like Slymans in Cleveland. I could have overlooked the pretty much filthy condition of the dining room and the sketchy people trying to sell you incense if the food was good. We ordered deviled eggs too and they put them upside down in the bag. There are so many great places to eat in the Detroit area, but this is not one of them.

Visited Detroit over Memorial Day and was taken to Lou's. My friend is a Detroiter and ordered their usual. As I listened to her order, I read the menu and got overwhelmed. Lots and lots of options. My friend told them I was a newbie, and they announced to the cooks that I was a newbie and promised to take care of me. The hostess helped me decide on a toasted Reuben on Rye with Russian dressing. This sandwich was one of the best I ever had. I've been thinking about it and told my wife about it. The next time I go to Detroit, this is a "must stop" place. I wish I had taken pics but I was slipping on my Yelping all week.

I've been coming to the D for 5 years now. I e always went to Asian corn beef for my corn beef sandwiches and egg rolls. I finally tried Lou's. Definitely was disappointed. The corn beef sandwich was ok. Just ok. The egg roll was terrible. I have no idea what they put in it but it was sour. I won't eat there again. Definitely wasted my money. Staying with Asian.

It's hard to find a good corned beef sandwich in Detroit anymore. But Lou's on Six Mile near Marygrove College still makes a great corned beef sandwich!

Lou's one of Detroit's renown places to try a corn beef sandwich Detroit style. The sandwiches are big enough for two to eat especially if you order it with extra meat. Please also bring your wallet, the sandwiches are also pretty pricey, starting around $16. The service is never great and the restaurant atmosphere is pretty cold and generic, but the sandwiches are still pretty tasty. In last years I've noticed the meat is a bit salty so go generous on the Russian dressing or add coleslaw on your sandwich. It gives a nice balance to even out the salt. Lastly if you've never had a corn beef on an onion roll, I'd suggest you try it. It's my favorite. Try one of these three the dinty Moore, the counterman's or my personal favorite David's drip. I always ask for extra dressing and extra meat.

Ordered a corn beef/Swiss cheese with Cole slaw/russian dressing. I get home, open my sandwich and it has lettuce and tomato on it. Who puts lettuce and tomato on their corn beef sandwich?? Who?? I haven't been to Lou's Deli in over 25yrs. Now I know why. Terrible customer service and food.

December 1, 2024I was a loyal customer of Lou's Deli at 8220 W McNichols Rd, Detroit, MI 48221, visiting weekly for my usual orders: the Big Louie and a Counterman's Treat. Unfortunately, I've noticed a decline in the quality of their corned beef sandwiches. Recently, the meat has been excessively fatty or overcooked and tough. Last week, I received sandwiches with fatty meat, and this week, the corned beef was as tough as overcooked bacon. Despite paying nearly $30, I couldn't enjoy my meal. I plan to call and express my concerns, hoping they will address this issue and restore the quality I once enjoyed.
