I live across the street from this mom and pop family owned grocery store! The owner is amazing and is always helpful when my favorite product runs out! Wide food selection you'd find at most grocery stores but I prefer to buy from a non chain

Poor Customer Service....Trying to purchase an expensive meal from the deli for dinner. I walked up to the cashier by the lottery machine. While paying for my food, I asked the cashier to cash out a $4 powerball ticket...She stated that I would have to get in the line in front of lottery machine. ...even though I was the only customer in both lines. She stated that she can't do two things at once....when the the manager came down...I asked him if he could cash the ticket out since she couldn't turn her body around to do it....He told me that she can do it! Black women continue to be the most disrespected in America. I have learned my lesson!

I've been shopping there for 7 years now. They are friendly and very helpful to your needs and wants. I Love the Smiles when I arrive to the store very day.

A welcome grocery store in a food desert. The food is high quality, but you're going to pay a lot more than at other grocery stores like Kroger and Meijer. The service is really good, and usually I'm in and out of line very quickly.They take cash and credit cards.

This place is Disgusting!!! Please do not buy meat from here. Last Friday I bought a couple NY Strip Steaks from Lafayette Foods, took them home and set them in the refrigerator for the next day. The steaks looked red and fresh when I put them in the fridge. The very next day I took them out and they were completely BROWN! I was completely confused as to what was happening and opened one of the steak packages. The smell was horrific. I took the steaks back to the store and showed them to the manager. I asked him if they had colored the steaks that were on display and he said no, and that he will take me to the back area and slice me some new steaks. I agreed just to get a look at the prep area and thank god I did. What I saw will keep me from ever going in there again. There was dried up blood everywhere, even all over the white Styrofoam trays they use to display the meats. While the manager was in the walk-in fridge I used the time to pull out my cell phone and snap a few quick pictures before he came back. When he returned, he immediately pulled a knife from the knife rack, which was also disgusting. There were chunks of dried bloody meat bits all around the hole where the knife slides into, which tell you they just stick dirty, bloody knives in there all the time. The cutting board still had blood all over it.... Just terrible. There is a cross contamination in this place that is dangerous. I made a formal complaint to have this place inspected and I can't wait until Natasha gets in there and starts slapping people around. I'm going to post my pictures but i'm sure they will try to take this down when they see it so i'm sharing on facebook. Stay Away!!!

Lafayette Foods is a relatively small grocery store. They seem to have all of the essentials, plus a few extras, like live houseplants. Looking at photos, I can say that the store does not really resemble the place it was 5 years ago. That being said the service was friendly and professional. The checkout was quick. I was able to find all the things that I was looking for. The prices were a little higher than at my local grocery, but weren't ridiculous. There is a parking lot and accessibility. They do offer hot and cold prepared foods, including rotisserie chicken. You can tell that they do care about the food they are selling. For example, the asparagus is standing and displayed with the cut ends in water to preserve their freshness. It's a good option for basic needs.

We have been able to walk to our local market for daily necessities ( no food desert here suburbanites ). Lafayette has been stocked and working normal Hours to support their community. Shelves have been stocked with goods, staff has been helpful and friendly despite working long hours. We are blessed to have them in our Detroit Downtown Eastside community.

Best liver and onions ever. I usually get it on Thursdays, but they had some today. It was so tender it melts in your mouth. It is so hard to find liver and onions old style with onions

The staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Customer service is a priority. If a desired item is not available, just ask and it will be ordered for you. It is pleasure to shop there.

Excellent staff & customer service. The store has fresh meats & produce, is clean and fully stocked.A shopping experience worthwhile!!
