Lady of the House was such a great spot for a night out. The vibe was cozy but stylish, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. We ordered a bunch of dishes and tried several cocktails--everything was really solid. But the potato donut holes with thyme? Easily the highlight. Seriously so good.Overall, just a great experience with good food, good drinks, and a great atmosphere. Definitely a place I'd come back to!

What a wonderful dining experience. From the cozy decor to the cute china to the excellent service, drinks and food, I wish I could eat here every week. It's a little hard to find, and parking is a bit scarce, but there is a small lot and street parking available. You have to walk into the little courtyard area by BARDA and you'll see the red neon "Lady" sign. It feels like you're walking into a secret space, and I love it. We were greeted warmly and sat right away; they give you tiny cups of tea to welcome you, and it was so nice after walking in from the arctic chill. They have a great cocktail list, and I ordered one with their Lady gin that comes from Detroit Distillery, coconut and lime. It was so tropical and not too sweet - very easy to drink. Just lovely. My friends' cocktails were also delicious - I really liked the one with bourbon and raspberry - kind of like a whiskey sour. We also ordered a bottle of a unique tasting orange wine, it was perfect. As for food, we had the root vegetable frisee salad, shrimp butter with rye toast, carrot steak and the whole roasted chicken. Everything was so good! The standout dish to me was the carrot steak - I heard so much about it and thought it might be overrated, but it definitely is NOT. Do not skip this when you go here. It's truly amazing and I'll return just to get it for myself. It's so buttery with this amazing hollandaise and pistachios...it's so yummy, and even if I try, I'm pretty sure I won't figure out how to make it. If they offered a class teaching how, I'd be the first to sign up! The shrimp butter was velvety and savory, but the star really was the rye bread from the bakery next door...out of this world. Charred and flavorful. The roast chicken is so impressive - served with this savory bread pudding/stuffing type of thing and roasted mushrooms; just delicious. Lots of umami and perfectly cooked; the 3 of us had enough to take home. We really did feel like we were in someone's home. Such a warm, lovely experience on a cold winter night. I highly recommend and can't wait to return.

Shoutout to Chef Kate because... wow! I'm so glad Lady of the House is back! I've wanted to try them for years, and it was well worth the wait. Last month, my wife, some friends, and I visited and sampled a lot from the menu--and bruh, what an experience. Let's start with the star of the night: the chicken dinner. It's highly recommended for a reason--truly some of the best chicken I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and sharable. I'll return for this alone. We also tried the Steak Tartare, which was good, but not my favorite. The Bread and Butter, on the other hand, was creamy, rich, and clearly homemade--a simple yet delicious highlight. Listen, the Farm Greens are a must-try! Fresh, crisp, sweet, and crunchy, they hit every note perfectly. Then there's the Carrot Steak, which you've probably seen on Instagram. It's oddly delicious and I say oddly because it's like biting into fresh buttery bread.. Try it and you'll see what I mean. The Mushroom Fettuccine was another winner, but that chicken remains the standout. To wrap up the night, we had the Cookies and Milk and Potato Donuts. Between the two, the cookies were the favorite--a sweet, nostalgic ending to an incredible meal. If you haven't been to Lady of the House yet, do yourself a favor and go. You won't regret it!

From the seamless reservation process (thanks to Avery's (the hostess) patience with my last-minute requests) to the final bite, this meal was unforgettable. We started with a variety of dishes--highlights were the oysters, shrimp butter, and ham. For mains, my friend and I shared the carrot steak, and mushroom fettuccine. The carrot steak was a creative standout, and the fettuccine was rich and packed with earthy flavors. My other friends raved about the New York strip, especially paired with the fresh side salad and crispy, flavorful potatoes. The cocktails were just as impressive. I had the Lola, which was perfectly balanced and not too sweet, while my friends enjoyed classic, refreshing gin and tonics. We couldn't resist dessert: the potato donuts (candied thyme was such a fun touch!) and chocolate chip cookies with milk. These simple, nostalgic treats were elevated to perfection, and the staff added a thoughtful birthday candle for my friend.Every dish was beautifully crafted and memorable--an absolute must-visit!

Visit here. If you get anything from this review, it is that you should visit Lady of the House. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was excellent (including the gorgeous dried flowers on the ceiling that look like an upside down wedding table), and importantly, the food was incredible.Everything we ate was amazing, particularly the whole roasted chicken. I have had similar dishes at other highly regarded restaurants and have often been underwhelmed, but that was not the case here. Worth every penny. The salad appeared to be simple but had a flavorful dressing and great combination of ingredients. One of our favorite dishes ended up being the cauliflower. It was perfectly cooked and the light sauce that came with it really brought it together. How could I almost forget the mushroom fettuccini. Beautifully presented, the taste of the miso butter in combination with the pasta and the mushrooms shone.Of course, you must try the carrot steak. It isn't huge, but it is unique and a must-try on your trip. Get both desserts. You won't regret it. Honestly difficult to say which one was better. The potato donuts were different from the usual and I really appreciated the chamomile and dried yogurt.Staff were courteous and friendly throughout our visit, providing excellent service and helpful recommendations. Can't wait to come back.

Welcome back Lady!Thank goodness Chef Kate is back in the House (we missed you)! The new location is very intimate, warm and inviting. Everyone working there is friendly, helpful and all working together well. Sure; you have a dedicated server but when all the team members are helping each other seamlessly, it makes you feel like part of the family. We started with the oysters, which were briney , juicy with a clean finish. There were three house made sauces to try out , which we did, and they were all different and delicious!!The shrimp butter came next and the house made bread was fluffy and crunchy, deep in flavor but a light feeling while eating so you just wanted more and more bread. The shrimp butter was full of shrimp flavor, creamy and lovely to spread on the bread. The steamed egg with chutney under was another flavor bomb. The egg was velvety and the chutney was salty and full of umami. The feeling of a Japanese inspired dish and again, you're left wanting more and more because it's just so good. But also great portion size since you'll have multiple dishes. We finished with the roasted chicken. Wow, this is standout and the portion size for a group of 4 or 6 but that was fine for us, great to take it home after. The roasted chicken is cut into lovely pieces the stuffing underneath had a slight sweet taste and the rosemary gravy was savory and the frisée on top had a slight vinegar finish. All flavors together complimented each other and intensified it all. We were so stuffed we didn't order dessert but that's for next time. Reservations are a must. Parking across the street near the gardens. Look for the red neon sign Lady and the pink door.

The food was just ok. We ordered many things on the menu from shrimp butter, oysters, carrot steak, mushroom pasta to the cauliflower. The best thing was the cauliflower. Nothing that would make me come back. Service was also slow

Dined with Lady of the House Valentine's Day weekend (not for their prefixe menu) and it was such a fantastic experience and ambiance was intimate but lively. I love the set up of the space with the dining area to the left of entering and the bar on the opposite side so it never feels too packed. Our server Ryan had great suggestions on dishes and was honest about portions (we asked if we were ordering enough for two people when we put our food order in) and was extremely knowledgeable of the menus. We ended up grabbing four dishes (shrimp butter, squash salad, carrot steak and mushroom fettuccine) and that was plenty for us to finish and share. The cocktails and wine we ordered were great, and the experience itself was great overall. Can't wait to go back to try their different seasonal menus.

Amazing experience!!!! The food here is unbelievably good. My favorites were the carrot steak, the steak tartare, the roasted chicken, and the doughnuts. Everything I had was good though. The service was also awesome and really appreciated the knowledge of the menu. Ambiance is a little dark but perfect for a date night or night out on the town.

Wow....this was one of the best meals that I've had in Detroit in years. We had been to the previous iteration of Lady of the House, loved it, and this was somehow ever better. The space is perfectly cute. It feels so cozy and welcoming. The staff are absolutely top notch. Our server was on top of it and made some great recommendations around what to order and how many dishes we needed for our party of five.I really enjoyed the Ladyhattan cocktail. It was a fun play on a Manhattan. In terms of food we loved everything but some highlights were: steak tartare, ham, and new york strip steak. We can't wait to go back!
