I was out on this side of town, and for as much variety of places to eat as there is, I chose here. I didn't feel like going to far off my route and its cold outside, so it was either this place or Olgas.I was surprised the place wasn't busier. Not much of a lunch crowd here mid week, but hey, it's the middle of February and freezing, so maybe it's me. The hostess seated me by the window and after about 2 seconds I realized this was a mistake. Why? It was drafty! Anyway, I reviewed the menu and saw that they had a wonderful selection of lunch specials which was right up my alley. My server stopped by and made sure I was ok and asked if I had any questions. I asked about the birria tacos, but it sounded like a really huge portion and I didn't really have time for leftovers, so I passed. I went with the two taco lunch special with rice and beans. I also opted for a sprite as well, since water wasn't enough.The food was good and overall a decent experience. They seem to have a large menu to choose from which is nice and I'm sure they have many other good dishes to eat.

I had a patient tell me she was going to La Herradura for their chicken soup after her 24 hour fast in anticipation of her colonoscopy. She described it as fresh, delicious broth, shredded chicken, potatoes, carrots, cauliflower and avocado. She had me at soup. On Tuesday when it was so cold out, I placed an order for 3 soups to go. These are not cheap, $13 for a quart with a side of chips. I picked them up, didn't check the bag and went on my way to deliver them. At my first stop, I realized there was only one very small bag of chips. For all 3 soups. Since Gary had actually spent the day working outside in the rain and snow he won the chips. The second one went to my parents and the third was for me. The flavor was fantastic. The issue was it looked like they had forgot to shred the chicken and chop the carrots. Yet, the potato and cauliflower chunks were tiny. Could have been someone in a hurry or short staff or what have you. I just wish it had been made with more care.

Service was prompt. Chips and salsa came out. One basket is complementary, after that they're 1.99 each. The menu states it, I'm not sure if they tell you if you order another basket because we didn't need to. The food we ordered (lunch burrito with rice, and chicken taco with rice and beans) came out within 5 minutes of ordering. The prices are ok, a little high for Mexican restaurants, depending on what you order.The place is cute on the corner. The table we sat at was wobbly but that happens at most restaurants. Portions weren't bad for lunch time. We only got waters, but the margaritas look big. May have to try that next time. We wanted to give somewhere else a try, and it was worth stopping in for.
