Koi Sushi & Hibachi Steakhouse

Came here for Hibachi and did not try the sushi so my review will be for the Hibachi experience. The restaurants ambiance is modern with grayish hues, I read that it was remodeled recently. There are tables in the back for Hibachi. I'm also surprised that I did not come out of there smelling like the food #ifykyk, so they must have a good hood system.The hibachi was good, maybe not the best compared to my experiences in South Florida but decent. And I actually liked that the butter taste was not so strong compared to Benihanas. My hibachi experience came with a salad, soup, 2 appetizer shrimp and hibachi. I ordered the Garlic Shrimp with steak. The shrimp are covered with garlic and butter and has a really good flavor except they are not like the traditional grilled shrimp if you like them more grilled. The salad dressing was a non-traditional flavor. Not sure if they were going for that or that they could not nail the ginger dressing flavor. Soup was a delicious broth and I got a Saporo beer to pair my meal. The Hibachi chef was awesome. He squirted Sake in our mouths and threw broccoli at us to catch, fun experience! He also celebrated a birthday girl in our table. Our server was also really nice and energetic. Parking was free and I would like to come back to try the sushi since it has mixed reviews to compare it to the sushi back home.

It was amazing. I knew it would. I love love love Umi in Grosse Ille. I went all the time until COVID. I live in Trenton and so happy it's right down the road. Eva does a great job with everything. Thank you Kristin

We stopped in on the second day they were opened for hibachi. The restaurant is really pretty inside.The food was very good. Between our party, we had chicken, steak and shrimp with salad and clear soup. All the proteins with the rice and vegetables were very good. The salad was excellent as well. The clear soup was room temperature so that was disappointing. We had one sushi roll that was very good as well. Our waitress was very friendly, but not very attentive. Dinner took an extremely long time to get started (over an hour to get our drinks) and we only saw our waitress a few times throughout the meal. While not thrilled with the service, we chalked it up to opening jitters and then working the kinks out. We will definitely go back for sushi and their others offerings.

We have been here twice and both times were excellent. We are happy about this new addition to downriver.

Sushi is excellent. I've been to every sushi joint downriver. Our favorite was Black Pine Tree before KOI opened up. This has now become our go to spot. It's a little bit expensive but you get what you pay for when it comes to good sushi. Have not tried the Hibachi side yet.

Hot n New just opened by the owners of Ume who's been around since 2017. Wow a totally 5 star design with a dozen Hibachi stations for any size party. Beautiful unique interior design will Wow you, a perfect location 2 doors away from Shong Hey on West Rd. Had a marvelous lunch , she had Chicken Hibachi with Soup and Salad absolutely fantastic . I got the Mega Deal 3 Roll Lunch with Soup only $16 , filled my belly with Love . Three all Spicy Rolls Shrimp, Crab and Salmon outstanding Delicious WOWED. Nearly frozen, tasteless tuna roll that I threw out. Staff that seemed special needs. Long wait. Just disgusting overall.

Went with my 5 family of 6 and it was rather kid friendly. The restrooms and facility was very clean. The service was not so great very slow and I even had to ask for chop sticks which I found odd. Refills on drinks were also hard to come by. My sushi experience was better than some other reviews on here so maybe it's hit and miss. The hibachi chef was great lots of fun! The hibachi food needs some work, the food was good but was cut in such large pieces and no knives at the tables so that was hard to cut meat especially for the 4 year old. It's a new place and needs some refining and tuning. The prices were fair for the offerings I will return in a few months to see if it's misses are improved

Second time here. This time non hibachi area of the restaurant. Waitress Katarina was amazing. Super attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Salad. Tempura appetizer and four rolls between us. Even allowed us to customize the rolls. Will definitely return.
