Kay Jays Irish Pub

Located on the East side of Mound just before it turns into Auburn Road this recently renovated pub is a hot spot to meet up, have fun and enjoy delicious food and great drinks. Mom is 86 now so we eat out earlier and earlier, lol. We braved the disgusting traffic on Van Dyke and made our way here on a Monday early eve. at 5:00pm. She had never been here before but I meet my friends here for drinks every now and then. Last time I was here my friend treated me to onion soup and potato skins; it was so delicious I just had to take mom here for a drink and meal. There is plenty of parking on the sides and in the back.The place is spotless! There is a plenty to do with pool tables, lottery tickets, pull-tabs, large screen tv's, claw machines and more. I even noticed that some of the tables had decks of cards along with pen and paper. You can sit at the bar on a stool, at a table top or at a booth. Mom requires booth sitting so that 's were we parked ourselves. Mom opted for the beef nachos with an upcharge for a side of guacamole and a coke. I tried the Sheppard's pie and had a glass of sauvignon blanc. I could have had house wine, a wide selection of beer and mixed drinks but I opted for my go to drink. Mom's beef nacho's were plentiful and delicious. My Sheppard's pie was OK. The ground meat in the pie was very tasty but I expected mashed potato's on top not big chunks of cut potato's. I think the cheese on top was a bit overpowering but overall it was served nice and hot and I enjoyed eating it. The service as always is excellent!

My new favorite Irish pub. Love coming here with my family to watch sports games. Always very busy! The food is great. Lots of options & good beer. The bar is very big & I love the overall vibe. The spinach dip, cheese bread and seasoned fries are a few of my favs!

Kay Jays has been bookmarked for quite some time. When we first walked in I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a dive bar. It definitely didn't give that vibe. We sat at the bar with a lot of regulars. Everyone was friendly. The service was good. They have a wide variety of beers on tap. Unfortunately, the clientele seems like more of the domestic beer crowd. The issue is that my beer was skunked. To the point that I didn't even drink it. The food was mediocre. Nothing special. I tried it. But probably won't come back. It was just so so.

We went over the weekend. The food is ok. We have had a few things that were really good, and some that were blah.$8 for a small side salad that is less than the size of one at Texas Roadhouse is beyond ridiculous. Then .75 for extra dressing? SMH.The service is non-attentive. They focus on chit-chatting with regulars or over in the corner vs walking the floor/cashing customers out.

I hesitate to review as the bar is in the middle of a renovation. I grew up in Utica/Shelby/Sterling and the Coachman was always there. Warm beer and lousy food! Same ownership, new name, still claim Warm beer lousy food. I think the owners name is Billy, he is dropping a ton of dough on this, from the road it looks like it was a tear down and rebuild-just awesome looking. Inside, currently, they have a temporary bar-which is large and well equipped, while the permanent bar is still being built. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Bar tender was great. Very friendly and prompt. I had a delicious breakfast sandwich. Love the remodel but the bathrooms need an update as well. They were clean just outdated and had a weird smell.

The updates to this restaurant/bar are finally done and worth the wait. Fantastic food, service, drinks and it looks amazing. Definitely making it our hang out.

Servers were slow, manager is rude. The entire place smelled bad and the seating was too close together. Food was greasy and not worth the price.

Ordered Jack Daniels on the rocks with a Tuesday special for $5.00 was charged $8.00 because I ordered ice WTF truly disappointed

Slow, I heard employees arguing. Looked like manager and waitress. I hate that. Made me feel uncomfortable. I left shortly after with my friends.
