If you're ever on Grosse Ile this is a great little local diner with good food at a reasonable price. The staff is friendly, and the facility is clean and neat. Definitely full of many locals that come here on a regular basis. Good all American food. We came here for breakfast and had a delightful time.

We stopped in for lunch and I was very pleased with the service. The food was typical diner fare but was tasty. I had the jalapeno burger. We will eat here again.

I've lived on Grosse Ile for ~8 years now and have been surviving on Kathy's for just as long. I usually get a chicken caesar wrap or any of their breakfast options and have never been disappointed. My family and I love the food, the staff is always so nice, and they're exceptionally quick. Perfect weekend food for a Sunday when you're just lounging around and want a great meal.

Kathy's Cafe: Don't go! It's dirty! The place should be shut down for a week so the ENTIRE staff, from the owner right down to the busboy, can attend a seminar on restaurant management, personal hygiene, proper food preparation and maintaining a sanitary work environment. As for the food? Who cares...aren't you listening? The place is a mess! Pay attention. Don't go! Geeze.

It's been a little over a year since i last visited Kathy's Cafe. I used to be a regular here in the mornings for carryout. The service was always great. If going for breakfast, try the ham and cheese omelette.

Stopped here after the Rock CF 5K. The service was great early on. We were seated quickly, our order taken quickly, and food delivered in a reasonable amount of time. Food was great. I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich on a bretzel bun and it was phenomenal. I was glad to be able to order lunch at 10am! Took a little longer than expected to have our plates cleared and our bill brought over, but other than that, good experience.

News flash: It's Grosse Ile, not Grosse Point. No need to add a dollar to everything east of the Trenton Channel. Stick with the breakfasts at this place, as it gets more spotty if you venture into lunches or dinners. The service is also spotty, much better if you're a "regular". Typical greasy spoon fair. Nothing special.

Great service! However, the breakfast was only ok. I had a very simple eggs over medium/sausage/american fries/breakfast special. Eggs poorly cooked; one of the yokes was dripping and pre cracked (lose a star). The potatoes were bland and cold. (lose 2 stars). White toast was abundantly buttered with Calders butter (I can taste, gain a star) Hence 3 stars. I will give them another chance soon, but the spuds need to improve. Grosse Ile deserves a better breakfast!

So glad to see that Fred has it opened for regular business. This is a landmark on Grosse Ile. Never had a complaint with the food or service, both are consistently good. This is the quintessential small town diner that is disappearing everywhere but place off the beaten path. I like the breakfast omelets and the Patty Melt, but everything is tasty on the menu. The "extra" that Kathy's offers is the TLC patrons receive, from the moment they enter until the moment they leave. If it is really busy there will be a wait, but give them a chance and you'll be glad you did.
