5 star bar. One of the best bars that exist in America. I like cinder block structures. I feel safe and secure. Very friendly people in a very friendly city.

It was a chill bar along a quiet street in Detroit. At first sight of it from up the street I knew I had to try it out. I didn't know if it was closed or not until I got close enough to hear voices from the patio behind the fence and could see a door open. When I walked in there were only a few people in there and they appeared to be locals. A couple people were dancing, laughing and having a good time with the jukebox.Great spot, just know its not a good spot to find good beer. They have a full bar though.Support local watering hole and stop in for a drink!

Oh what a night it is turning out to be!!! I've passed Jumbo's quite a few times over the years, but our Dive Bar tour brought me knocking on her door! Jumbo's doesn't look like much on the outside, but the inside is a classic. We grabbed a few seats at the bar and had a blast talking to the bartender. This is a really cool spot in the city. This would be a fun spot to celebrate a Lion's Victory one day! lol We really enjoyed our time here and the clock was ticking.....on to the next one.

Dive - yes, but not the good kind.Went here on an impromptu midtown bar crawl w/ the hubby, after we couldn't get into the Temple because concert just got out. Well, this place was near empty even though walking distance from the Temple. It smelled like sewage and smoke. they had a big sign that said no smoking inside, but it was quite evident to me that they allow it. We decided to leave.

Ya know- this was pretty close to what I expected. Someone at the Open Mic Night joked about" Not knowing whether or not this place was still open until you saw the cars". And thats true! Its one of the only things left in what REAL DETROITERS call Cass Corridor. There aren't many outside lights or decor on the outside (Except for the parking lot mural; which is beautiful). So its hard to miss if you dont know what your looking for. This is a DIVE BAR- the way they should be. A line of Bar Stools, a small stage, a few small tables, random unmatched decorations, beer plaques on the wall, a small racks of nuts and chips, and a liquor display, and numerous under counter fridges for beer, and ICE COLD BEER. Almost to the point of a slush- it was great. There are no frills here. The service was Good- it was efficient and nothing more or less, but he spoke in a friendly tone. I never had an empty beer can in front of me for more than 5 minutes. Even when it got busy, he popped us open a few in between making drinks- which he charged $4.50 for. It DOES smell like smoke; i got use to it in 10 minutes. It wasn't overwhelming- just lingering. I saw no one smoking inside while I was there all night. The prices are incredibly cheap for Beer and Drinks too at that matter. Over the course of 3 hours- we drank 8 beers, and paid $22. Strohs $2.50 and Bud Light for $3. Open Mic Comedy on the last Wednesday of the month. I definitely think I'll be back.

In the midst of all the changes to the corridor, Jumbos has still retained what has made it great. I am sitting here on Thanksgiving surrounded by all kinds of people. It is a reflection of the community it serves. Jumbos is America's best neighborhood bar

You know when you are a stranger and you go to an unfamiliar place, but you leave feeling like everyone is your friend? That was my experience at Jumbo's. Strangely, I often find myself in dive bars because that is where the "real people" are. I had a great time here, but honestly all I look for is good conversation, cheap drinks and a jukebox. And I can really appreciate a $3.50 jack and coke. So fun here! Thanks guys, see you again soon!

This is the kind of bar you go to when you have no idea where you are or what time it is and no one knows who wanted to go there in the first place. It felt like the type of place where you could start a fire in a trash can and drink out of paper bags and that would be okay. I think one of those fake, silver christmas trees from the fifties all decorated and set up in a corner year-round would belong. I liked it.
