Jo-Jo's Antipasto salad, with homemade Italian dressing is one of the Top Five salads in T-Town. Many are fancier, few are better.
I can vouch for the take-home Italian dressing.
Brick Oven Style Pizza
Although it may seem so, this NOT a stupid pic. This is a picture of the best house-made Italian dressing in The Glass City.
Half price pizza on Monday and Wednesday? I did not know that. Now I do.
Wanna talk about a kick-ass antipasto salad? This is what 10 bucks (or there about) will get you at Jo-Jo's.
Yeah, it's a pizza joint, but 35 cents for a taco is not bad at all.
Most of my salads are eaten out of a styrofoam "take out" container...this is the antipasto salad offered up on a real plate.
I'd avoid chicken chunks from a pizza place, unless we're talking about Jo Jo's hand cut, hand breaded chunks! Get 'em!

In honor of Pi Day, I figured I should check out why other Yelpers have been raving about Jo Jo's... They're something to rave about or at least their small meats pizza is rave worthy. The serve was quick and the ambience gave me a oldies "OG." I would totally return for another pizza Pi.

I'm constantly on the hunt for hidden gems and culinary experiences that go above and beyond. Let me tell you, Jo-Jo's is a pizzeria that ticks all the boxes. This isn't just your average slice joint; it's a place where quality ingredients and passionate preparation come together to create truly exceptional pizza. The first bite of a Jo-Jo's pizza is a revelation. The crust is the perfect balance of crispy and chewy, providing a sturdy foundation for the symphony of flavors to come. The sauce is simple yet bursting with fresh tomatoey goodness, and the cheese is a delightful blend that melts perfectly. But the real stars are the toppings. Jo-Jo's uses only the highest quality ingredients, and it shows. From the vibrant veggies to the savory meats, every topping adds its own unique dimension to the pizza masterpiece. But Jo-Jo's isn't just about the pizza (although it could be!). The rest of their menu is equally impressive. Whether you're craving a plate of steaming pasta or a fresh salad, you won't be disappointed. The menu may not be huge, but what they offer is done exceptionally well. What truly elevates Jo-Jo's to Elite status is the consistency of their service. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always one step ahead of your needs. They're knowledgeable about the menu and happy to answer any questions you might have. Whether you're a pizza aficionado or a casual diner, you'll feel right at home at Jo-Jo's.In short, Jo-Jo's is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates quality pizza and a welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place that quickly becomes your go-to for a delicious and satisfying meal.

A Toledo classic. Cheap beer, cheap pizza on Monday and Wednesday. I gave it 3 stars because the food is worth 4 and the service is a 2. That's being generous. Worth coming, but be patient.

A landmark. Been going here on and off for 35 years. This review is based on carry-out, as we haven't dined in in over 20 years. That said, the pizza is good, with a very distinctive sauce. And their half-price pizza specials (Mondays and Wednesdays) is one of the best values out there. The service is always friendly, and it's always good to support local. The best part? Unlike at Gino's, you generally don't risk getting mugged when you pick up your pie. The worst part, as one prior reviewer noted, is the Fox News on the big-screen TV in the main dining room. Not a huge deal if you're there for carryout, but WTH? Can't they do what everyone else does - put on some sports?

With the rash of "Chipotle/Subway style" pizza chains currently afflicting Toledo (think 1000 degree blazing pizza fires), I felt compelled to write about another excellent local pizza joint. Jo Jo's Original Pizzeria has been around since 1957, and there's a damned good reason for that: Jo Jo's makes great pizza and they give it to you for affordable prices...it's as simple as that. Style of Pizza: Soft, thin crust with ample perfectly finished cheese, and a tangy sauce. It's not exactly TOLEDO STYLE, but you can't eat at Gino's/Amie's/Mancino's/PizzaCat EVERY day, now can you?Avoiding carbs? You're in luck! The other thing that I really love about Jo Jo's is that they make one of the best antipasto salads in T-Town. The homemade Italian dressing is truly outstanding...my daughter says it's the best Italian dressing in the world! I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say "best in the world," but it's great dressing! The homemade ranch dressing ain't too shabby either, says Mrs P...both of them...my mom and my wife! Aside from lettuce/veggies, green & black olives, and pepperoncini, the antipasto salad features provolone, salami, and pepperoni! In other words, this is a salad "that eats like a pizza," while sparing you the carbs! If you need them to substitute chicken or turkey for the salami/pepperoni, they will. If you want double meat or cheese, you'll pay a little extra, but Jo Jo's will give you what you want. (If you're vegan, there's no point in even ordering an antipasto salad. Duuuuhhhh.)Price: Nothing to complain about in this department...on most days, Jo Jo competes quite nicely with the above-mentioned national chains, AND, on half price pizza nights (Monday and Wednesday), she kicks their lily asses.Decor: It hasn't changed since 1957. Next topic.Service: It's never been an issue. You insist on having your pizza "in five minutes?" Give them a call on the way over, and the pie will be ready for you when you get there.EtOH: Are beer, wine, and booze available? Yes, yes, and yes. Papa Joe's Saloon is next door (and attached) to Jo Jo's. Here's something nice: The Great Black Swamp Brewing Company makes a signature beer especially for Jo Jo's. It's called, appropriately, Jo Jo's Ale, and it's very good. I'd call it "a beer's beer."In the end, with Jo-Jo's and TONS of excellent family owned pizza parlors around The Glass City, there's no good reason to be eating at national chains (other than, or course, Toledo-based Marco's).Jo Jo gets five stars from Mike P and the P family!

I've been frequenting JoJo's my entire life. Monday's and Wednesday's are half-price pizza which might be one of Toledo's better dinner deals. Fairly recently, ownership changed hands and the food differs subtly, but the vibe has somewhat suffered. I'll just get on to the food, though. Kick off your meal with the meatballs or the Parmesan cheese bread. Both are badass straight up. Now the pizza: I would give JoJo's a Toledo top 5 ranking. It's no Inky's..but it's delicious. The ground beef is my go-to and I always order it well done. Their pizza is where they're the most consistent and it will have you coming back. Occasionally, I roll with the cheese ravioli which is bangin. Hit JoJo's for a restaurant that's been serving Toledo since 1957 for a reason.EDIT: I've subtracted a star. Like I said in the review above, I've been frequenting JoJo's my entire life. Since ownership changed hands, a lot of what I thought made the place special has changed. Seemingly, efforts have been made to appeal to a younger crowd. In actuality, it feels like it's moving towards a bar & grill type atmosphere. Hokey alcohol advertisements, a TV in case you wanted to watch Fox while you scarf down a pie, a new menu featuring Kraft mac n cheese with chunks of chicken resting up top, less than pleasant service, and a mural done with cheap drippy spray paint on the side of the building. All of these things combine to disagree with the cozy little neighborhood Italian place that I've known all my life. I'm rooting for the owners and JoJo's to last as long as Toledo.EDIT 2: They've updated the murals on the building and they look great! Much respect 2 Jo-Jo's!!

Ive been coming here for years. But the last 2 times I was there I have had THE WORST experience with one of your bartenders. Specifically the dark haired girl with the R2D2 and "mom" tattoos on her arm.About a week ago I went in for taco Tuesday, as I have done often. That was the main reason I went there. As I sat at the bar I was finishing a text, when the bartender stood in front of me, I set my phone down and ordered 4 tacos and a Yuengling. My friend also ordered tacos and Yuengling, so she upsold us on a pitcher. Moments later, she brings plates and silverware for each of us, along with salsa and sour cream for EACH and set it in front of us. Then my friends food comes out. So im waiting for mine, and waiting and waiting.....and I finally ask, when I should expect my food. She then very rudely says "Uh, you didnt order any food, you were too busy staring at your phone to place an order." I said "excuse me, I set my phone down looked you directly in the eyes and ordered, it was the first thing I asked for" and I mentioned that she mustve heard, she brought me salsa and sour cream. I doubt you guys just give that to all customers, right? SO after that attitude, we left. Now last night, we went back in for a drink. Same bartender was working. She acted like she had the biggest chip on her shoulder, mostly ignored us when our drinks were empty (there were 3 other people in the bar) and just proceeded to have the NASTIEST attitude toward my friend and I. Naturally, I tipped her nothing, and wrote, "$0, she earned this" where the tip would be.Now today, my friend was contacted by another bartender, saying we will be banned if we come back because of what I wrote. I dont know what this girl's deal is, she seems upset about her own shortcomings and needed someone to blame. This is unfortunate. This isnt the type of treatment Ive ever expected from here. I enjoy this bar, but having someone represent your business that treats customers like this, isnt good for anyone. Do better JoJos.

We love going here on Mondays for the half off pizza. The pizza dough is a lighter dough with a nice crisp. Its usually busy but worth a stop in or take out.

Last time I was here was over 40 years ago with my parents. Waited 2 hours from my food done. Only waited 45 minutes now. Going to cut some slack on due to covid. Though I like the family atmosphere, I question the need for Fox News on the large big screen television. Partisan television networks and family run restaurants don't really go together in my book. I'll cut the difference in half. If I'm alive in 20 years I'll go back and give them a 3rd try.
