Java Hutt

Ferndale has a handful of coffee houses...I'm pretty sure Java Hutt has been here for an eon. It's comfortable and quiet, mostly dependent on the time of day. I like that they give you actual mugs if you're staying at the Hutt to enjoy your drink. The staff was friendly too.

Their food is delicious! It all came out warm and fresh. I ordered a turkey pesto panini (delicious) and their lemon poppyseed pound cake. Their staff was so kind, helpful, and accommodating. And there was comfy seating to settle in, chat with my friends and stay warm during the cold weather. Will definitely come again!!

This used to be one of our go to when we use to own a business in Fdale a couple of years back. Would come here 3-4 times a week as one of our rotation spots. Not a bad spot for a mocha. Arabica beans and fair trade too. Sandwiches are made to order. Service is always good as well. Parking is hit or miss on 9 Mile.

I hardly ever write reviews but I felt compelled to write one for Java Hut. And not for good reasons.The customer service was terrible, the lady who took our order was rude and unfriendly. The food was half-assed and dry. My wife and I ordered the spinach feta egg wrap and it came out with 90% raw spinach, a dousing of dry egg, and a sprinkle of feta. A part of the disappointment could also be from the expectation that the ingredients would be cooked and incorporated together. Or at least the way other vendors do it. Even Starbucks does the bare minimum with it by cooking the ingredients together in their offered food selections and it's primarily known for it's coffee...Lastly the coffee. We ordered mocha latte and a chai latte - the chai was decent but the mocha latte was horrible. There was no sweetness to it, only bitterness. And we saw that there was a large powder residue at the bottom of the cup as if cocoa powder was added and then the coffee without stirring. It's completely inedible/undrinkable.Overall: if I could give zero stars, I would. But I guess I can suffice with 1 star for the mediocre chai latte. Don't go here if there are other options for available to you.

Great place to relax in downtown Ferndale! My boyfriend and I spend the day walking around Ferndale and stopped in here for a drink. My boyfriend got the hazelnut iced latte and asked for light hazelnut. He said that it was perfect and not too sweet. I ordered the French or Italian soda (I can't remember which) with orange flavoring. It was great! Tasted like a dreamsicle! I don't see made to order sodas very often on menus. The inside was very clean and comfortable. The man working was very nice and did a great job managing the customers payments, orders, and making the drinks. I will definitely be going back

Dark, dingy and the service is nasty and rude. It's where you'd go if you wanted to go slumming for a coffee.

Every time I'm in downtown Ferndale, I have to stop in. They're always very friendly and efficient. Drinks are good and the food is pretty good too

Went in to grab a bite and coffee to go in the midst of a shopping hike in Ferndale. Got the Spinach & Feta Breakfast wrap. 95% spinach, 4% egg, 1% feta. Also got a pour over. I seriously can't distinguish this from a cup of plain warm water. Can't say we'll be visiting here ever again while in Ferndale, MI.

The service is exceptional. A large selection of quality hot drinks. I personally had the ham and cheese panini. It was delicious. Highly recommended.

Can you believe this is the first time that I've been here?! I reserved the couch area for my group. I love the couches and it's coziness. It's perfect for a group discussion or just hanging out so your back doesn't hurt. There are also little tables to the side and along the wall. It wasn't that packed and it was quiet. I like that because I know I can study there if I need to. I ordered a chai tea latte which I thought was good. Sweet. Everyone else ordered a coffee drink or a tea drink. Management and staff is so nice and accommodating. I will be back!
