Neighborhood grocery store. Not fancy but does the trick. Great service every time. Is it While Foods? No. But it doesn't need to be or want to be. We appreciate them.

I am a new tenet in this part of town and decided to make this my local grocery store. So far my impression is mixed. On one end it's close and the hours of operation are correct and reliable, Yet the quality is off. This is my second time purchasing an item and it being expired upon purchase. I live alone so I don't get many items. My concern is that of not only of myself but others. It brings me to question everything and I have to constantly check the dates to make sure they are correct or I could be buying something expired, in a already inflated economy. This needs to be addressed immediately and is unacceptable. Also some of the shelves are dirty, not extremely, but dirty to the point of question. For example the shelf where the eggs are looks like it hasn't been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. In the freezer isle it looks like some items have been sitting for a long time and you can tell are freezer burned. Every place of business has its flaws but, there should be a standard especially when it comes to services that can directly impact someone's health.

...Typically I prefer larger/chain stores to shop for groceries, but I ended up taking my grandmother here and it's actually pretty decent. My biggest surprise was how spacious it was. Surely this was partially because it wasnt busy at all.Selection of items is fair, decent fresh fruit and produce, but lacking majorly with variety in the frozen foods section and dairy items. As expected in a small-scale store, prices are a tad bit inflated. Still, I will say that they are reasonable. (And) no charge for money order :-)We did not need to have much interaction with the staff other than to check-out and there were no issues there. The store was very well-organized, maintained and quiet....Can't say that I will begin shopping here on a regular basis, but definitely a good place to drop in for a few items.

Let's sart with some positive notes. I enjoy the fact that this market is a short walk from my home. Many of the employees are friendly. The men who bag groceries and who stock shelves are helpful and nice. The women who work as cashiers are friendly too, though one of the younger women here has been munching on lunch more than one time while ringing me up, and that is just odd.Now for some less positive notes. The fact that the roof is constantly leaking in several parts of the store, including on some of the shelves makes me very reluctant that isn't vacuum sealed in a can or bottle or in the freezer section. If the roof is always leaking then there are probably all kinds of other contamination problems here, including mold. One more point: my adult daughter came here a few days ago and told me that one of the cashiers asked her why she came when the things that she was buying was so much cheaper elsewhere. That was odd.I guess what I'm saying is that I really wish that there was a better grocery store within walking distance of my home, but there isn't, so this will do for the basics.

I live in the area so I usually patronize this market or Harbortown Market. The last time I checked their State of MI inspection scores, Indian Village had better scores than Harbortown's score.A good place to pick up a couple of things. The prices are reasonable considering that it is located in the city. The reason for the three stars is that the cashiers can be somewhat dry and not very welcoming.

"Where do you go grocery shopping?" is a typical question being asked if you live in Detroit. This could be one if you live in the East side.Indian Village is a beautiful neighborhood. This supermarket is at the front of the neighborhood facing East Jefferson Ave. The store is nice and sizeable. Staff seems friendly. Fresh produce is slightly better than OK.

As far as city grocery stores go, this one is decent. Good location right on Jefferson, and it's great that they're open til 9 Mon-Sat and Sundays til 6. The other city grocers I usually go to, all close up earlier. They carry pretty much anything you might need for your general shopping....not much in the way of specialty products. It's clean and friendly, but nothing fancy. Prices are a touch higher than you'd find in your big chain grocers, but I don't mind paying a little extra for the convenience of having this place nearby.

Staff is extremely rude! Apparently the bagger opened the exit door for me with his foot at the same time someone was walking out. I wasn't sure who did opened it but said thank you. I guess it wasn't loud enough because the bagger said "no gonna say thanks?" Like seriousl? you literally lifted your foot off the ground to trigger the auto opener. Then the owner claims there is a limit to using coinstar and kicked me out at $500. Coinstar machines have no limit! He's hust an A**hole

This store is the best store in the indian village area. I go there whenever i need to buy some fresh produce or meat and every week there are sales. I love the employees they're so kind and welcoming. The cashiers are nice and work quick with the bag boys who always help put my groceries away or take them to my car.
