Wow, so impressed with Hong Hua & it's honestly the best Chinese food I've had to date in Michigan. It feels very much like a SoCal restaurant to me - especially with the Cantonese influence & slant here. It was popping on a Sunday night and for good reason. Mia, our server, was great! Super attentive and helpful when ordering. We had the:*Peking Duck: 北京全鴨 ($62.95 - Young duckling expertly prepared in two styles: crispy honey-glazed skin with Chinese crepes, scallions and Hoi-Sen sauce.) This was the STAR of dinner of course. It was my first time having Peking Duck in Michigan and honestly I didn't know what to expect. It's carved tableside which is a nice touch! The "crepe" its served with is interesting -- it's not quite the kind of used to which is a round, super thin batter - truly crepe like. This is almost in between like a flat lavash bread (s/o Yelper Tina H. haha) but I didn't mind it. It was a +$7 upcharge for duck fried rice but my-oh-my is it worth it!! The wok hei on the fried rice was perfection. I was VERY surprised you didn't have pre-order this at all! Guess demand is high. *Seafood Chow Mein (海鮮炒麵 With assorted seafood and vegetables) - you can do this lo mein style but I mean at a Canto please you HAVE to get it "liang mian huang" aka CRISPY. Their egg noodles are a little thicker than I'm used to but it was really good! The seafood (big shrimp, scallops, no cheap filler calamari!) and veggies it came with was super fresh too. *Pepper Salt Prawns (椒盐虾) I technically didn't see this on the menu but I saw the other classics like Pepper Salt Calamari, Pepper Salt Pork. Mia made it happen though! This is served whole prawn, head on -- they deep fry it in a way that it's pretty cooked where you CAN eat the shell and head -- almost like soft shell crab or like tempura but that's completely personal preference. *String Beans (干燒四季豆) - I mean a classic dish and theirs is awesome. They put a leaf for spicy but I didn't find it spicy at all! *Black Pepper Beef w/Pineapple? - It was a special so we got it! Served in a pineapple with cooked pieces of fresh pineapple! I was into it. The beef was very tender. I did notice that they have a regular beef sirloin with black pepper sauce served on a hot plate - that one might be delish for next time.

Enjoyed this restaurant ... 7 years ago. Wow has it ever gone downhill. The service always left a little to be desired but the food made everything worthwhile. Now the service is awful AND the food is poorly executed too.Went with my wife and two small kids. Ordered jellyfish, veggie spring rolls and orders of hot and sour and wonton soups. Mains were general tso's chicken and sesame beef. Also chow mein (vegetable). Seating (booth) was drafty... had to plug it myself with napkins... great start.Hot and sour soup served lukewarm. They "fixed" it by reheating. Thanks. We indicated to the waitress we'd be getting chow mein as a substitute for white rice (so paying nearly $20 for a veggie chow mein dish as the side to accompany our beef and chicken proteins)...Chicken and beef came out, no chow mein. Asked maybe 3 or 4 minutes later on timing and response was "it will be right out"... another 15 minutes pass. Forced to eat the meats without this dish... had to walk over to our server and ask to just cancel it - nearly 20 minute gap was unacceptable. It came out a couple minutes later (which we then refused). As for the quality of the dishes. Poor to mediocre. We requested that the general tso be spicy... it was bland. The saucing was overly sweet with no complexity or depth of flavor. Almost a sweet and sour sauce - almost no heat. The chicken had no crispiness - batter was immediately soggy. The saucing was goopy... The wonton soup was good and the jellyfish and veggie rolls were okay. Overall very disappointed and will not return.

Service was awful. Waited for a long time just to order drinks. Only one menu was brought for 5 guests - had to ask for another. Meals were brought over a 20 minute span one at a time.Server passed dishes from one side of the table reaching over guests instead of walking around the table. Had to flag down server for additional drinks. Completely a la carte. Rice was not included. Will not be back.

Base on Michigan and metro Detroit standard. This is one of the best Chinese restaurant in the state. Chinese menu and English menu is a little bit different by the way, I just realized that while typing this out. Peking duck, duck is lean which I like, but small. Good flavor, I really like the pancake that comes with it, it is warm and soft. I made a little taco out of it. Everyone is getting Peking duck for dinner. So you will have leftover meat and they supposed to cook another dish for you. We got stir fry and seems like a lot of the meat was missing. Staff probably snack on it. Everything was also good, they don't cheat and just dump msg into the food.

Came here for a work dinner and really enjoyed it! I haven't had much Chinese food I've loved in Michigan and I really enjoyed this place. I'm spoiled in that I tried my first Peking duck in China, but the one here is so great! The whole table side presentation is very nice and the portions for me were huge. I had enough to eat to my fill and have leftovers to turn into a Peking duck fried rice. The interior was quiet and very clean on a weeknight, making space for great conversation. Service was also timely and kind. Great spot for any Chinese food lovers!

Got to love the white table cloth ambiance.. servers were prompt and polite. The food was very good. The hot and sour soup was a huge portion. DH got beef in pepper sauce on a sizzler and finished every bit of it!My noodles was okay but not my favorite. Chicken with pepper and black bean sauce was great choice.I had enoki mushroom wrapped in bean curd for the first time ever- kudos for such a unique dish! You can never go wrong with food here- enjoy!

Hong Hua's fine dining is no longer as I used to remember. The Lunar New Year menu was a pitiful disappointment, unworthy of the price we paid for 14 people. Fine dining is when you expertly slice the skin off the duck and serve the remaining succulence in another dish. The Royal chicken was extremely salty served in a lackluster style! Fine dining has flair and grandeur, to be far better than homecooked meals. Sadly Hong Hua did not impress me!
