4 out of 5 stars for the food and like 6/5 stars for service, so that makes this review a 5/5 star review. My boyfriend and I went here today for my Christmas present, I had been wanting to see what they put in the old Coach Insignia space. Hearth 71 is located on the 71st floor, as is Highlands, apparently (more on that later), and they do not take reservations. We arrived around 6:15pm and were seated around 6:50pm, which wasn't bad.Our server, Classie, was great. My boyfriend ordered a Hefeweizen (sp?) beer, and I decided to use my alcohol budget on a side order of the potatoes. The potatoes ($7) came with a malt vinegar aioli and were great. For our entrees, he got the mushroom bucatini ($15) and I got the steak with chimichurri ($29); surprisingly, I liked his pasta better than my steak, although it was still good. Classie asked if I liked how the steak was prepared, and I did mention that she had said it would be medium rare, and this was more medium well. When she offered to return the dish to the kitchen, I declined and I said that everything still tasted fine.Later, after I had finished the dish, she came out with a brand NEW steak dish - definitely medium rare this time. Fantastic customer service, and now I have some steak leftovers for tomorrow. For dessert, we split the chocolate chip cookies with sea salt, which comes with a Guernsey milkshake, and everything was DELICIOUS, especially the cookies; they are served warm with a gooey center.Pacing for the meal was also very good except for the end, when we had to wait a while for our dessert, for some reason.Overall, I would return here, or maybe try Highlands - funny story, we took the elevator to floor 72 later because I thought that's where Highlands was, but both Highlands and Hearth 71 are on the 71st floor. Highlands is to the left when you exit the elevator, and Hearth 71 is to the right. The 72nd floor is actually a banquet space.I recommend parking in the Beaubien structure, also - it was $12 for 3 hours, and the Atwater structure, right next to it, would have been $25, for some reason.

I was *so* excited for this place to finally open, but my first experience was unfortunately a letdown. The place is beautiful and the views are incredible, but it took over 30 minutes after ordering to get just one drink. My wife and I had planned to make this more of an extended visit, but after that unreasonable wait we decided to go to the bars at The Belt instead.I know this place is new so they might still be working out some issues, and the views alone might be worth it, so I'll probably come back at least one more time, but this experience just didn't live up to my (admittedly) lofty expectations.

Really great service and amazing food. Bacon wrapped dates were my favorite. The artisan cheese board was also a favorite. We tried so many things: warm olives, dates, chicharrones, cheese board, prosciutto/burrata board, spanish baked eggs. All were very good and enough to share with a few people. For dinner we tried a few of the salads first, then the burger, chicken and lamb. Everyone loved the chicken. My favorite was the crispy duck fat roasted potatos (off the highlands menu). Classie was our server and she did a great job taking care of our 8 top. Definitely a great experience.

I spent NYE at Hearth71 for dinner and a champagne toast with friends and family. The atmosphere was lively with a energetic vibe. The view was amazing! I ordered the skirt steak medium rare, potatoes, and a couple of the appetizers and they were all perfectly prepared, yummy and artfully presented. Our waitress and other staffer responded very knowledgeable and took awesome care of our group. We tried a variety of drinks and they were all well balanced and unique, including the mocktails the kids ordered. I will DEFINITELY be back. It was a night to remember. I love this new Detroit Gem.

Some restaurants have a phenomenal views. Some have phenomenal food. Very rarely does one have both. Let me tell you, this place does! The best views in Detroit - without question. And honestly, some of the best food in the city, as well. Highly recommended!!!

Went here last night and overall I really enjoyed the experience. Service was excellent. We were able to order from both the Hearth 71 menu and the steakhouse menu. All dishes were well-executed, great presentation, and excellent flavor. We got the risotto, octopus, and fish dish (cannot remember the name) from the steakhouse menu and the lamb from the Hearth 71 menu.

Went in with high expectations, saw the menu and was instantly disappointed. The menu at first glance looks very dry and minimal. Atmosphere is great, waitstaff was very kind. Ordered Yukon Gold potatoes and chiccharones, the Yukon potatoes were amazing, and had great flavor (not a lot though). Chiccharones were ok, not a fan of pork rinds, but had good flavor. As for the entrees, the Walleye was the best fried fish I've eaten, the The Mushroom pasta dish was arguably the best thing I have ever tasted. The chicken was also cooked to perfection and was kept juicy and tender. Very impressed with the taste, but all around the portions were small. I could've gotten double the food for each.Overall, great atmosphere. Would recommend for a light meal or trip for drinks. As for a full course meal, look elsewhere.

I was raised by a bunch of rabid raccoons and I don't have the most refined pallet. The shit I tasted there I never knew existed! The food was excellent!! It will not break the bank either. 6 people including a few drinks and the bill was only $160. It was busy the Saturday after Valentine's Day we only waited an hour the staff was great and did the best they could. They will text you when your table is ready so you can get a drink or check out the view. The view was awesome as you could expect with a wonderful atmosphere. I would highly recommend. Great addition to the city.

Went last night for a ladies night out.Service = our favorite thing about this place! Classie, our server, was personable, professional, hilarious, and so intuitive - she paced our courses perfectly and made excellent recommendations. She made us feel both completely at home, but also like we were treating ourselves out to a fine dining experience -- she truly has a gift!Food = amazing. Still craving all the dishes I had last night:- Eggplant Dip - smoky, smooth. Comes with eggplant crisps, freshly made-to-order pita, and veggies for dipping. We almost licked the plate clean!- Avocado/Almond salad - came right after the eggplant dip; great fresh, finely chopped salad to complement to the richness of the dip- Yukon Gold Potatoes - that malt vinegar aioli - perfect complement to the creamy potatoes- Mushroom Bucatini - umami-PACKED. Delicious, savory truffle flavors and perfectly cooked bucatini pasta- Lamb - delicious, perfectly cooked, great balance of blistered tomatoes, mint, and hummusand last, but certainly not least.... the warm chocolate chip cookies with salt & Guernsey milkshake. A must have.I'll be back, with all my friends. Over & over again. See you soon, Hearth 71!

An unbelievably cool experience with incredible, reasonably priced food. I check their website weekly to see when they're going to open again.
