I popped in here because I had seen them listed as a place that carries Ice Cream Plant vegan gelato, and it was on my way to see a vegan friend. I had no trouble finding a parking spot, but when I got to the door, there was a sign to leave bags from other stores at the service counter. I'd brought an old paper grocery sack to try to be eco-friendly, and it seemed odd to have to locate the service counter, drop off that bag, and then come right back when I was only getting one item. I ended up sort of looking at the service counter as I walked past to see if they offered some guidance, and then proceeding to the freezer section. Not only do they stock multiple flavors of Ice Cream Plant, they also have Guernsey! So lots of love for the quality Detroit frozen treat options. I noticed quite a large selection of alcohol for a grocery store, additionally, and the option to purchase rotisserie chicken. And I appreciated not being forced through self-checkout. I'd give this place 3.5 stars. I would stop back in if I just needed a couple things and it's on my way.

One of the nicer grocery stores on the Jefferson strip of Detroit, Harbortown is a moderately sized grocery store with fresh produce and a wide selection of other daily essentials. The staff is very friendly and the facilities are clean. It's also one of the nicer spots for picking up wine or flowers.Harbortown also has an excellent deli and hot food bar. They have lunches and dinners to go ranging from $7 to $12 which include chicken, pork, and even salmon. You can also pick up a rotisserie chicken for a quick entree. Unlike other grocery stores in the area, the prices are quite competitive as well.

I normally come here for beer. And they have a great selection, like really good. They have beers for weeks that other stores sell out of in a few hours. Great grocery store and prepared foods as well. Love this spot

Located On Jefferson Avenue between Indian Village and the downtown area Harbortown Market is a fantastic specialty grocery store that offers Metro Detroiters fine produce, a deli, a healthy wine selection as well as a variety of gourmet foods like cookies and cheese. Finding its home inside of the same shopping center as Subway and Rite Aid, Harbortown Market is well known and loved by locals. I suppose when you offer shoppers everything from baked goods from local bakeries, Seattle Sutton meals, sake and more there's little that customers are in need of.In addition to their food selection, Harbortown also offers lotto and money orders. The staff is always friendly and helpful her, but the prices are a bit more than if you were to shop at a Kroger or Meijer. Yet Harbortown offers gorgeous bouquets, organic produce and other items that are rare to city. So, if you're looking to grab a bottle of wine or simply forgot the hamburger buns for dinner stop into Harbortown and see what the buzz is about.

I needed to buy groceries and couldn't get out of the city to do it. I wanted to go somewhere nice. My friend told me about this place so I decided to check out and well it was right across the street from the place I wash my car at! Perfect! The people who works here are pretty friendly. The place is nice and also clean. I like that. They have a good selection for a smaller grocery store. They do have some exotic items. I did have some issues with some of the products. They tend to have shorter expiration dates and when I got home I noticed the the package of the sliced turkey was opened! I had to throw it away. =[ I should have done a better job checking but still! I would probably still come here when I can't get out of the city to get groceries. It is located in a nice little "mall" with a dry cleaners and a rite aid.

I am a long time customer of this business for the last two years since I moved to Detroit. I really only went to this store out of utter necessity and convenience because frankly, the food is overpriced across the board and the quality of the meats and produce are subpar AT BEST. I noticed that I received a duplicate charge for a transaction that I had made early in the week. I came to the store that weekend with the receipt in hand and the bank statement showing the duplicate charge. The owner subsequently looked up the charge and saw that the charge had in fact been duplicated and instead of issuing me a refund, ACCUSED ME of letting someone use my card for an identical purchase. Like what the hell? I am the sole owner and authorized user on my bank account. He refused to issue a refund and instead told me to TAKE IT UP WITH MY BANK or CALL THE POLICE. Is this how you run a business? How can you show me evidence in your system that I am correct and then refuse a refund. I was visibly very upset during the conversation and he told me that I am wasting my time arguing because he was not going to give me my money back. You're clearly stealing from me and refusing a refund sir, and other people should be aware of how you conduct business when your own POS system glitches. Imagine losing a long time customer over $20, the stupidity is deafening. I will never be back

Terrible experience shopping here and working here. While working here, they put expired products on shelves saying that someone will buy it, their produce is moldy and old, and the management is terrible. They talk so bad about regular customers once they leave but smile in their faces or disrespect them in their language and they yell at and emotionally abuse their staff. Joe is the absolute worse to work with and has caused 5 staff members to quit but Louie doesn't care about any staff except management because they're the only ones who come in to work 8am-9pm. AVOID THIS PLACE. Rivertown has cheaper prices, their bathrooms are clean with working HOT water, and the back area and properly maintained unlike Harbortown Market.

Be careful of the cooked food. Way back it was substandard. It got better over time, but is now dangerous to eat. You have no idea how long it's been sitting there. At times certain things are cold that should be hot. Maybe the Michigan Health Dept should pay a visit.

Harbor Town Market is great because they are ALL about customer service!Harbor Town Market Food Service. My hat's off to Harbor Town Market, Louie and the host food staff! For a couple of weeks I was asking Loue to do a Taco Tuesday. I love Taco's and the Taco Tuesday idea. I also want to have Tacos available in my neighborhood for lunch and all day if necessary. Well, to day when I stopped in; as Louie, Sammie the chef/cook and I had discussed and Sammie had agreed, There were the most delicious tacos I have tasted in a long time! They were turkey tacos with all of the trimmings! The best I can remember tasting in a long time! Taco sauce and all! Louie told me they begin to sell as soon as they were placed in the show case. Louie said that they would be called Jackie's Tacos because I asked for them. So next time you ae in Harbor Town Market, especially if it is a Tuesday, Ask for Jackie's Tacos! Thanks Louie and Harbor Town Market culinary staff!
