Haang's Bistro

As an asian-american. I gotta say this place is THE place in the area. Not just Walled Lake, but Oakland County, even the entire Detroit Metro area quite possibly. This place hits all the high notes for authenticity and flavor for both Chinese and Thai dishes. From the cuts of the ingredients to the actual ingredients used, it's the original cuisine with the owning family's touch.They have a beautiful balcony with an overlook on the lake, a perfect weekend lunch date before walking around downtown. It's a very small place but the service is always kept well. Their presentation is surprisingly turned up a notch from your expected local Asian take-out. The plates and presentation of the dishes are amazing, carry-out doesn't do the look and freshness justice - but it will definitely leave you satisfied. A true 5 star place of Walled Lake.

For this place not to have dining in options. I don't understand why they wouldn't allow DoorDash or UberEats to deliver their food. I'm sure it would be financially beneficial Great food though. It's just so many times I eliminate them from dinner options because of this.

It's been a while since I reviewed Hangs Bistro. Gave it it's first 5 star review in the early days. I've been with them through through the not so good times, but I'm glad to see them rise back to their five-star status. Just had the veg curry rice with chicken, and it was orgasmasmic. Lots of sause very fresh veggies and excellent white meat chicken. Got the dish mild, and it had a little kick, perfect. Glad they are back to be the best Thai within a 10 mile radius.

My boyfriend and I tried this for the first time tonight for take out for his birthday and we were so impressed. The food was extremely delicious. The vegetarian spring rolls are amazing and as a vegetarian when I placed my order they made sure it was prepared vegetarian friendly for me! We can't wait to come back and try more!!

Chinese and Thai, what an interesting Mix. I called ahead and they are still only doing carry out orders. They did say that they do have a front patio, where you can order and eat on their patio, which wraps around the building. The wait for food is about 40 minutes, but we should be able to get our crab Rangoon sooner. There's only room for one person in the entrance at a time. I ordered crab Rangoon, the green curry with chicken, steamed tofu, extra veggies, medium spicy, peanut curry noodle with chicken, steamed tofu and added veggies, extra extra hot. The crab Rangoon still took about 20 minutes before it was ready. The crab Rangoon were dense, doughy and rather disappointing. We ate the center only since it was too heavy and breaded. The wonton wasn't as crispy as I like either and we grabbed it from the woman, as she had knocked on the window to let me knew the crab Rangoon were ready. The filling tasted okay, a bit skimp on the cream cheese and crab content though. The plum sauce is super thick, almost like a paste, it's so-so. I am not sure if I need to stand by the door to have her let us know that our food is done. I waited and 45 minutes after we put in our bed order, the woman behind the counter knocked on the window for me to pick up our entrees. She's quite pleasant. The woman behind the counter explained why some of each of our dishes were in a separate container. There was so much overflow due to all of our extra add-ones. It was nice because we each got to try the other entree without having to dig into the main container. The woman behind the counter was very nice. The peanut curry noodles are good, the sauce is yummy, has some good heat to it and the noodles are nice and chewy. The green curry is just okay. I do like the fresh basil leaves. The sauce is a bit bland and boring. I should have know baby corn would come with the added extra veggies. Here I was hoping it would be more of the veggies in the green curry dish only. I ended up using the leftover peanut curry sauce and dumping out my green curry sauce and eating my green curry meal with the peanut curry sauce. The green curry can't hold a candle to the peanut curry sauce, it's so much better as far as flavor goes.

My order of Shrimp Pad Thai (Thai-style) is excellent. The portion is very generous. Hot food served hot.The "medium" spice level is Lao-style ... quite spicy.

I got into this place after getting a coupon and really like it! It's a quick carry out place and their medium level of spice is spicy! Warning as I can handle spice but their medium level even for me is hot! Really enjoyed their drunken noodles and red curry, the lunch portions are good and definitely I have a bit leftover for dinner! Definitely recommend it.What I also really enjoy is getting fortune cookies included with my order. Somehow one of my cookies didn't have a fortune in it but I suppose I will have to choose my own fortune. Lol!

Update: changing this to 5 stars. It, and one other plane in Metro Detroit, are my two favorite Thai restaurants. The server here is amazing and remembers my order, and even that I like shrimp in my Tom Yum soup. I come eat here often, I'd say at least once a month for lunch and once for dinner. It's so tasty. Tonight we ordered the usual vegetable curry with chicken. But also ordered the General Tao Chicken. Huge pieces of tender chicken. It was excellent! My only tip is the spice level here is higher than most. Mild plus is like medium most other places.

Wanted some good Thai and found it! This restaurant is carry out only and the appearance is NOT good. They warn you that medium spicy will make your nose run. Be warned, medium is HOT. Chicken pad Thai, chicken pad prick, beef drunken noodles and shrimp fried rice were the dishes we ordered and all were great except the pad Thai. It wasn't much more than very spicy noodles. Everything else I would order again in a heartbeat. Portions are huge !

Absolute best Thai food around. Their Chinese food is also amazing! I drool as soon as I start to think about Haang's!
