Guy's Pizza & Dinners had closed down a while back due to a fire, but they're open again, and for that, I'm glad. When I'm not a steak and asparagus man, or a pastitsio and saganaki man, I'm a pizza and salad man. I eat a LOT of pizza and salad, and G'sP&D does a great job with both. This is easily the best pizza east of the river, and quite possibly, depending upon your taste, some of the best pizza in town.I'm not going to go so far as to call Guy a pizza artisan, but these pies are just about as hand crafted as is practical. The dough and sauce are made from scratch, and very well made they are. He doesn't make his own cheese, but the cheese blend is a menage a trois that includes both of the usual suspects...and munster...unique and delicious. Even some of the toppings, such as the Italian sausage (?!) and the meatballs are made in house. Considering this is a small, family East Toledo joint, this fact is impressive, and the taste is even more impressive. The pizza sauce and cheese are usually perfect, in both volume and flavor. Topping are copious, and all thicknesses of crust are finished to perfection in the stone lined oven.If you're avoiding carbs, try the Italian salad. While not as awesome as Jo Jo's on Monroe, or even Inky's, Guy puts together a very nice antipasto salad; it's probably the third best in town. It could use a little more meat, IMO. The homemade Italian dressing, like the pizza sauce has great flavor.Check out the one star review review...it's a trip! I'm not sure what the hell happed to Steve's wife's mother's pizza, but I'm giving Guy's Pizza & Dinners 4+1 stars.

The bread, and the pizza dough, are good. The pizza sauce is fine/average. Everything above that is weird and somehow wrong. I don't really know how to describe it. The toppings are just... Somehow not right. I got sausage, onions, and peppers, and they were all very strange. The sausage is made in house, but the flavors aren't right for pizza sausage. The onions were too sweet, maybe? The green peppers were probably fine but somehow clashed with the onion and sausage. This may have been a cheese problem, because honestly whatever cheese they are using isn't very good. I feel bad leaving a negative review for a local small business, but with all the rave reviews I had high hopes, and this place was almost a total bust.

New Yorker here, born and bred... that being said, I'm a passionate pizza eater... it's in my DNA. A true measure of a pizzeria is a plain cheese pie, where you can taste the dough, sauce and cheese in its basic form. I didn't order that pie, but instead, I ordered a large Calzone. Why? I was jonesing for one.Let's start off with basics. A stone lined oven. Old school. A stone oven offers flavors a conveyor belt will never. It takes a proper skillset to successfully manage a stone oven. The Calzone: The dough was a nice, consistent golden brown on top, dark brown on bottom, offering that "char" taste, without the char. The dough was tender, yet had a good bite and a proper crumb. It was done, from the fold, to the seam. Proper bake time for sure, with good rotation. The sauce: Balanced. Not too acidic, not to salty, not too sweet. The basil made its presence known, and was on the front, so it lended a nice "bright" and "fresh" taste to it.The Meats: I ordered mine with ham and bacon. Excellent distribution and portion, there was meat in every bite. The cheese: A blend of Mozzarella, Provolone and Munster... and that too, evenly distributed with a good portion.Final verdict: The size of the large Calzone is enough for two meals, the value is on point. Aesthetically, it's beautiful... color, shape, everything. Overall, a mighty fine Calzone. The only thing I would change, is to replace the Munster cheese with Ricotta. The Ricotta, being a sweeter cheese, would cut the saltiness of the ham and bacon, add some creaminess to the other cheeses, and keep the ingredients nice and moist. Add Ricotta, and you would have one stellar product (but don't ask for it, they don't carry it).Even with the lack of Ricotta, I still give 5 stars, the place is clean, staff friendly, and the other products we purchased were delicious. Plus, local "mom 'n' pop" shop, to which I'll always support... you can "taste the love"...

Among the better pizzas around Toledo. Real pizza oven not conveyor belt trash or wood fired wallet killers. Wings are breaded so not a traditional Buffalo style but the sauces were very good.Worth a try, take out only.

Rude to say the least. Act like they don't want your business. Was making excuses why I couldn't use the coupons on the counter because I had forgot mine at home. Place was dead almost not one person there except the obviously unhappy staff. (Probably should have told me something being that empty and all). Food has fell off since they reopened. Staff is extremely rude...all the time. Act like a bunch of high school dbags most of the time. If they know you your probably in there but everyone else gets treated like a burden. Funny thing is even if your in with the cool kids at the pizza joint food still isn't that good anymore. Salads are literally all lettuce, calzones are way over cooked and to doughy. Pizzas are hit or miss. Sad that a cool local place fell off like it did. Get some new owners or staff or both. Or maybe dont act like your better than the community you are serving and that paying customers are a burden to you. As dead as it is when ever I go by that place probably won't be in business to much longer anyway. They won't mind though since they don't want our buisness anyway.

Freakin awesomeness on bread. Best pizza I've ever had. Top notch quality ingredients im from Texas so we've had a lot to choose from. Hands down one of the greatest. Y'all should open up a shop in Houston. Please. Also the Pizza artist's art that's on the wall was maybe thinking you could ask him to hang it there so next time I go in the ones for sale I could maybe buy one then. That's what a few artist do back in my home town and it works. Just a thought.

We found Guy's courtesy of our yelping community. Stopped in for lunch enroute from Kansas to Detroit for a family wedding. We loved that it was right off HWY 280, that it was locally owned, and prices were fine. We got a medium pizza and a footlong sub for about $20. The pizza was hot, fresh and yummy. The fella that served us was nice. But be forewarned, this is a carry out delivery place! No place to sit and eat with the exception of a lone picnic table outside. No bathrooms that we could see! We did eat in our car and it was good, but if we'd known there was no place to eat we'd have stopped elsewhere. Still, glad we went there, life is an adventure, yes?
