Gold Star Family Restaurant

We've lived in Rochester Hills for over 30 years and for some reason have never been in Gold Star Family Restaurant before, so we went today after our exercise class. We were met at the door by a friendly, smiling server who seated us immediately then brought waters and coffee. Not just a cup of coffee, but a carafe of steaming coffee! We each ordered an omelette - mine spinach and bacon with feta, and my husband's gyro and feta. My husband got home fries and I got pancakes. Everything was served hot (my pet peeve-don't bring me cold food please!). Even the syrup for my pancakes was warm - nice touch and in a clean, non-sticky pitcher. The omelettes were big and tasty What a satisfying breakfast!While it's not a fancy place, it's very clean and comfortable. Seemed that most the patrons were regulars, and I can easily see why. We will be eating here again!

My mom loves this place. Every time my sister or I visits she wants to eat breakfast here. It's super cheap, and super good. $5.50 for the "Big Breakfast" pictured below. My dog says, "Thanks for the bacon, Mom!"It was crowded on a weekday during breakfast and our server was great. It has a pleasant atmosphere with clean booths. I'm sure I will be back at Christmastime.

They need to get back there dinners, and stay open till 6-7 pm, and NOT close at 3pm every day,!Get with the program, and put soccer on the back burner! Your rating will get back up high if you could actually be visible to visit !

Hello-been a regular customer for 30 years. Locally owned, top service, fair prices, tastey grub, give them a try.

The owners are very rude, the environment is hostile, and the service is slow I am not returning.

Love the place. I eat here every weeKen's and the food is great, reasonably priced and staff are excellent!

Had a very good omelet. While eating, however, I had to listen to an interview with Donald Trump on Friends with Fox. At the same time country music from the radio was being piped in. Very discordant! What I wanted was a peaceful breakfast devoid of politics. Upon paying my bill, I was asked how everything was. I observed that patrons of all political persuasions come to eat and should not be subjected to a particular party's politics. The waitress missing my point said that she would rather listen to Trump than Harris. So, if you are looking for a place to eat devoid of political rhetoric, Gold Star is not the place of you.

Great food. Great friendly service. Nice prices. Owners are really nice people. Very popular spot.

Great prices on above average food and service. Family run for many years. On main Street half way up the hill, West side. A hidden gem. Family diner ambiance.

The most unfriendly waitress and owner , went in the morning and the waitress acted like I was bothering her. Owner refused to substitute anything you order and told me I don't know restaurant business. Don't waste your time a lot of other coney islands out there.
