You want the best cheesesteak? Forget about Pat's or Geno's... you have to try the cheesesteak at Gabriel's. I'm telling you, it'll give any reputable hoagie a run for its money. And if you want to take it up a spicy notch, get some of their cherry pepper relish. The Ypsilanti location is an old school staple located right off the main road. It's super small inside, seating maybe 20-25 people. The staff is always friendly and welcoming to visitors.Do your stomach a favor, make the trip!

Try the Cheese steak hoagie. Small little spot with some seating and mostly carry out.

I don't know what else to say other than this place is amazing! I love the hoagies with extra peppers! The only problem is I can never hide my trips from my wife unless I can get home before her, throw my clothes in the laundry, and take a shower. The smell lingers!

It may look sketchy on the outside but these hoagies are some of the best I've ever had. The steak is hot and juicy, cheese melted on perfectly, and quick service with cheap prices. So so delicious!

A decent place for cheesesteak hoagies in Ypsilanti, but could be better for the price. My hoagie had hardly any cheese in it. I searched for the cheese and saw a bit of gooeyness at the bottom of my sandwich. I recommend asking for extra cheese for .40 cents more. I was given a generous portion of mushrooms for an extra .69 cents. The interior is cute and I like that there was outdoor seating as one of the few people left still taking Covid seriously.Overall, the sandwiches are tasty and nostalgic for those who remember eating here in better times. I just like a lot in my sandwich, and I can get a filling sandwich with cheese, peppers, meat, and more veggies at a place like Potbelly. I'm sure nearly 65 years ago when Gabriel's opened, a hoagie was less than a dollar, but when it's now close to $10 in 2023, you need to step up your game. They definitely need to include more cheese.

Like so many of my other reviews, I'm of course working in the area and want something different. I can honestly say, I've never been a huge cheesesteak sandwich fan, but I'm not willing to give up on them completely. If I find a spot that looks promising on Yelp, I'm gonna go for it. Other Yelp reviews convinced me to give this sandwich another shot. Good reviews, lots of stars, and a convenient location has me headed their way. I pulled in and the vibe of the place was even more promising.Inside was clean neat and organized. There was a constant flow of people coming and going. Judging by the pictures on the walls, Gabriel has been making cheesesteaks for a long time. They have to be awesome to have his recipes and sandwiches still around for so many years.Well his recipes must not have included any flavor. For the price of a sandwich, I expected a few more options too. The bread tasted like bread, the cheese tasted like cheese, and the steak tasted like......steak. There was no melding of flavors, no extra kick, no surprise twang, no last second zip. It could not have been more boring.I thought with that with only a handful of options, that meant Old Gabe, put his heart and sole into those few things. It's better to excel in one, than be average in many. Unfortunately I'm afraid this is not the case.I've had a couple pretty good cheesesteaks in my time. So I know they can exist. And some were so large they could feed two adults. Honestly after eating my sandwich here, I could have stopped at another restaurant and ordered more food. The place was very clean, and the staff was polite. I guess if there is something here that I missed, that would have made my experience better, I'd like to know. But for know, I'm scratching my head wondering... is it really that difficult?

Food was great. Got the provolone cheese steak hoagie. Went during lunch rush and only waited maybe 3 min for my food. Would definitely come back!

Pretty good cheesesteak not the best I've had. Bread is really good but not a lot of veggies or cheese, plus the meat was kind of bland and had to add salt. Location is in a nice little area. Recommend getting extra cheese and I wish I got the hot peppers.

I went here for my first time today, and it did not disappoint. The cheesesteaks were massive and delicious, especially for their price. I really liked the atmosphere of the place, it had a retro diner charm to it. The only complaint i can give is that it took a little while for the food to come out, but the workers were very kind and apologized for it. Overall, this place is great.
