Gabby's On the River

Just moved to the area and are looking for a neighborhood bar. Came in on a quiet night. Hubby and I were one of 4 people in the bar. Bud Select and Mich Light are the two draft options (yuck!). Thought of staying for a second beer until getting creepered by a weirdo (who apparently just got out of rehab). At least for as crappy as it was, it should have been cheap- it wasn't. Sorry Gabby's, but I don't think we'll be returning.

What can I say? I have been going here for over 14 years! Its a dive bar! No doubt. But drinks are cheap and we stop here only a couple times a year! It is what it is and always will be! A dive bar!

Becoming in here for years. Always great service and prices. If the owner is here he always has time to say hi and have a beer with you! Bartenders are cool!! Will be coming in years to come!!!

Hello all. First of all I am not sure about the other reviewer about it being expensive. A bucket of draft, now Labatts, Bud and Bud light, is 4 for $9. Thats $2.25 for a 16 oz draft. And this is a dive bar that serves as the local neighborhood working man/woman. Most of the bartenders are nice, quick to serve. The food is pretty damn good too. Hamburgers are from GFS. 50 cent sliders on Sat., Sunday is 2 coneys for a buck, the chili is made there on cite and Monday is 2 soft tacos for a buck. Taco meat is made on site too. Yes the place has its strange patrons, But for being a mile away from a very rough part of Detroit its not bad at all. I have been going here for over 15 years and always have a good experience.

Keara, I hope you rethink not returning. Gabby's can be a fun little place. I have seen and been involved in civil conversations on hockey, politics, art, music, and animal rescue. There are some oddballs that "creep" in, but there are some decent folks there, especially behind bar. Oh, and for the record, they have a good burger and beer special, and it's a good burger.

its a great dive bar but it is coke , crack heads that work and go there. They do have cheap drinks but this is a fun bar when u look pass the drug heads. ps drink everything out the beer bottles not everyone cleans the glasses.thank god Laura is gone she had sick dogs in there while she worked.
