I'll be honest, I've thought about coming here a few times and I pass it a good 2-3x a week. The branding has kind of thrown me off a bit. It's called Fresh Flavors and it has smoothies, but there's smash burgers and cheesesteaks along with Boarshead ads on the windows. I kind of interpreted a mixed message where you almost expect health food between the smoothies and the name and then the food seems to work against it. It's a silly personal bias, but somehow the word fresh makes me think health food. I didn't remember until after my order today that I looked at the menu before to see what the smoothies were all about and then dismissed the whole health concept on the grounds of the smoothies having additional sweetener added. That was all out the window and out of mind today when I was just looking for something to pick up on my way home. The smash burger was honestly phenomenal. The guy working seemed like the owner and was super personable and friendly. There's passion and excitement in the food here. It's a quaint little spot, but very clean. People inside were raving about the cheesesteak so I'll be trying that next sometime very soon. I'm glad I finally decided to pull over and give this place a shot. My only small gripe is that next time I get a smoothie I'll be requesting that there's no additional sweetener added. I'm in the camp of belief that fruit is always plenty sweet enough on its own--especially when those fruits are mango, pineapple, and banana. It also always hits like a big counteraction to the healthiness. I will say the presentation and consistency of said smoothie was still excellent. The concept may have given me a bit of confusion initially and I'll still hold ground on not being partial to whatever my smoothie was sweetened with, but I'm only regretful on not having given this place a shot sooner. If the other menus are even half as good as this smash burger was, they're doing good stuff here. One last thing I feel extremely inclined to mention as an Italian: I don't think they're doing that deli counter any justice. The branding cohesion really has nothing on the deli. Customers are being given way too much freedom between having just a few hot sandwich options and a build-your-own style for the cold cuts. Where I saw a burst of confidence on the smash burgers and cheesesteaks, I can't say I'm at all surprised that the deli wasn't brought into conversation. There's no confidence behind it. Build some sensible combinations and price them out. Offer some of the cold options to maybe be done venetian styled (throwing the cold cuts and cheese on the grill for a minute) or toasted. Having 5 types of turkey and 6 types of chicken is not the move. Cut those down to maybe 2 types at most and get some more variety: pepperoni, mortadella, ham, prosciutto etc. If you're going to stick to a make-your-own kind of style, you can't be expecting much traction on people opting for additional meats. I can make a roast beef and pastrami, that's solid. Some corned beef would mix well with both or either of those as well. I get chicken and.... what else? Salami I guess? Another type of chicken? The oven roasted pairs great with capicola, prosciutto, honey ham, and soppressata. Maybe not the best example, but you get what I'm getting at. The variety that's there is taking away from the variety that should be getting up-charged. Not to mention when you have something as simple as a prosciutto you can be charging a good $1-$1.50 per slice--throw like 3 pieces on a sandwich with a little bit mozzarella, tomato, a couple leaves of basil, and a drizzle of balsamic and you've turned $1.35 in meat + ~$2.85 in other ingredients into an $11 sandwich.10 cheeses is also a bit wild. If you're going to have that much cheese there's gotta be more done with it, at least some fancy grilled cheeses maybe. If you've got 20 sub creations and you're going hard on subs that's acceptable, but when you're picking a single protein and cheese it feels like that should look more like half as many cheese options. Then when you get to the toppings there could be a bit more being done. Maybe some olives, hot yellow peppers, and giardiniera. Pair the olive oil with seasonings. Take away the ketchup and shame anyone asking for it. Ranch and BBQ work for certain hot sandwiches but also have no business on cold cuts.Put some damn confidence into that deli counter or keep the focus where you guys know you're already killing it.

Great place the staff are nice and quick. Everything was made fresh and of fresh ingredients, place was super clean and felt like what a neighborhood restaurant is supposed to feel like, it's a small business they lived from Brooklyn, NY a few years ago. I highly recommend giving them a try if you're in the area.

When I saw the flashy lights on this new spot, I was expecting a normal juice bar. I was not expecting a must-try spot that will have me coming back excited for more. The Philly Cheese Steak was savory and unlike anything else in the area. It was hot, fresh, and so, so good. I've tried plenty of other steak & cheeses and this was a step above all of them. I look forward to going back and trying other things, including the juices. The owners were super welcoming and they definitely hit their mark with their goal of bringing New York style sandwiches to Michigan. The place was clean and everything was organized well, with fresh fruit ready for juicing and a lobby ready for people. Considering the top-tier quality and the neighborly vibe, I would consider Fresh Flavors a hidden gem.
