Franks Hoppy Bistro

WOW They know how to fill a small cookie sheet as that is exactly how your meal is served. I had the seafood platter which had shrimp, scallop, frog legs & perch + shoestring potatoes + a choice of 2 additional sides. Hubby had the cod with all the same choices. Our waitress Madison was friendly & very courteous & wasn't constantly hanging around. Food was a bit greasy but it was tasty. You can purchase beer & wine also.FYI-it isn't a fancy place but just a friendly, neighborhood place with entertainment. We saw quite a few families dining there & not one kid was screaming or running around this place. Good parents=good kids.Yup, we will be going back in the futur.

I've given this place a go a few times and they just can't seem to get it together. Love the concept but execution needs some work.

Great pizza, drinks, and staff! I go because of the entertainment and friendly staff mostly! Sorry - don't like to eat anything that used to live in the sea. Fish are friends not food!

Staff was friendly. Casual environment, nothing fancy. The calamari app was enough for 2 and very good; lightly battered. The batter was the same for the fish ordered and the frog legs... and there's a lot of it. That being said, if you like heavy batter, you'll probably enjoy it.

Update from earlier review:We ate at Franks yesterday & it was very disappointing. Scallops were good! Fish& shrimp were good but the breading was way too thick compared to whenthey first opened. Fries were overcooked & not hot. The broccoli salad was hard to eat & nothing special or good for that matter. Pieces were way too big. The meal was pricey at $70 (for 2 with 2 beers) for a subpar meal. Not sure we'll be back.

Not a great environment. Felt greasy when we walked in. Of all the coleslaw recipes around, this is the one they use? Awful coleslaw. Scrawny "hand-cut" french fries and clam strips. Low quality frozen food. When the dining room had less than 5 tables occupied at peak dinner time, that tells the story. The haddock and tartar sauce were decent. To spend $75 on dinner for two was ridiculous. Next time I will buy two filets and make them in aCast iron skillet along with a baked potato and veggies plus wine at home. A far superior meal at a better price. Would not recommend.

The food here is not good and way overpriced. I had clam strips that tasted worse than the frozen ones from the grocery store. At least buy quality frozen clam strips! They were small and tasted fishy. Also ordered the onion tower. The onion rings were good but also frozen. The 3 dipping sauces were mustard, ranch from a bottle and cocktail sauce. Gross! At least make your own ranch, it's not that hard. The coleslaw was also disgusting. It definitely tasted like rotting cabbage. Do you guys make anything from scratch here?! You should try it. This place was on my list of restaurants to try based on reviews, and now I can cross it off my list. They won't see me again. I did enjoy the trivia though. Go for that, not the food. Eat before you go.

I ordered the perch dinner with fries and coleslaw. Perch was delicious, fries were soggy and the coleslaw literally tasted like dirty cabbage!! Service was horrible after our first drinks we had to go to the bar to get service. The entertainment was fun. It was trivia night. Which was fun. Definitely won't go back!!!

Great Fish and Chips dinner with very friendly service and clean comfy environment. I eat here often. Great value for quality and quantity served.

Met some friends for a Sunday lunch and had an excellent meal. The fish sandwich was excellent and for $10 (came with fries) I highly recommend it. Got some dessert to take home - lemon and banana cream pie slices - and they were also excellent!
