Food Pride Market

I purchased 20lbs of chitterlings 5lbs each for the holiday on 12.18.2021 (Christmas)The day before Christmas Eve I let them thaw completely now here Christmas Eve that morning 5am i open only 3 packs and put in water to start cleaning them once I started to clean them I notice what appeared to be freezer burn on them (only a few tho) so I just tossed those few away in the trash And said hey it shouldn't hurt once it cooked especially with them being $30 each didn't just want them to go to waist , besides I thru most of the freezer burn away!So once cleaned now about 7am I put my chitterling pot on let heat for a minute then put in my chitterling and an 2hrs into cooking I added my red onion red pepper green pepper salt/ black pepper put the top on and let it cook for almost 4hrs W gradually checking on it in between time Each time I checked on them they was cooking as they should but now here it is down to the last hr of cooking I go to check on the and the bubbles are bubbling like hot lava (yes! Hot lav) so now at this point it's only 3 1/2 hrs when I usually cook them for four hours sometimes five.. so my reaction was that dang freezer burn and heck no, not these $30 chitterling they was sooooo slimy I couldn't believe it! This has nvr happened ever!I just thought that I would share my story Because when I went up to the market to tell my story and to see if they could give me some type of credit due to the fact of me spending $120on chitterlings they didn't even want to hear my story nor did they want to see the video that I recorded or the receiptsAnd just plainly told me there's nothing they can do about it once there open that's itThis was a market that I go weekly/monthlyIm so disappointing how they handle my situationSadly today was and will be my last time shopping hereWe're not talking about $5 or $10 being a waste, we're talking about $120 being a waste For future please do not purchase your chitterlings from this market you might get a bad batch!And it's nothing they can do about itBtw this was the Manager words

I can't buy anything here. I was not in the mood for fast food in this area. So I thought a grocery store would be low cost idea and fresher. Not at all. 5 dollars for something I can buy at Meijer for a dollar same brands too. Good stuff just high prices

The grocery store was fine- bigger than expected. Seemed to have a large selection for most things and convenient location.

One of my biggest pet peeves about the people who talk crap about Detroit is when they say that it is a "food desert." This couldn't be farther from the truth. According to some, the lack of a Walmart or Meijer in the city means there is nowhere to grocery shop. The truth of it is there are tons of LOCAL stores down here (Eastern Market, Harbortown, and Goodwell's, among others, and Food Pride as I have discovered!).Food Pride is a full scale grocery store located on Warren in Midtown Detroit. It has a huge stock of products, specifically it has a great selection of fresh produce and meats, which is a common complaint that people have about grocery shopping in the city. Fruits, veggies, meats, fish are all very big parts of my diet so this made me really happy! Price-wise they are not rock-bottom or anything but they do have competitive prices and they accept manufacturer's coupons, which is great for students like me trying to save some money. Overall, it is an (unfortunately) unadvertised hidden jewel in this city that I wish more people knew about!

Ok, seriously, how could i have not known about this place until now?!Don't let the location scare you, Food Pride is one of the best and most accessible grocery stores downtown!Since i discovered this gem just a couple weeks ago, i think i've probably been at least 2x a week. It's right on warren off the 75 exit, so i can hop off on my way home from work to pick up my last minute ingredients. So convenient! i was always making the trek to honey bee and harbortown, but they dont' always have the items i'm looking for and they are def. more expensive.Food Pride is super big too, it really has everything you are looking for AND it's super cheap, you know mama loveeeees her a good deal.My new fave spot, can't stop raving about it!

I got some Meat from them Spent 155 for Labor Day But when I opened the meat Package It was so spoiled I went up there and the Manager gave me Major attitude wouldn't give me back my money Lied about the meat not being Spoiled And said it's my fault I got the meatI am a Single Mother who tried to do or first holiday with My family and a few early I asked for a Job And he going to ask me how can I work and I have a Child,Bad Meat and Bad Customer Service

This store is clean good price on fruits and veggies and potatoes..Don't come into this store to often.... very convenient when in a hurry..People are nice who works at this store..4 star rating...

If you want to go to the best grocery store ever go. They have a great selection of food, fruit, drinks, snacks ext. They have fair prices and always have nice workers. I'm a big food person and they always have clean and fresh food. No grocery store is on their level.

I went to check out the market today and found it clean and huge with good prices. Seedless watermelon$6.99, exactly same as a Meijers I also went to. Bread flour including their own brand (2 for 7) wow!I'll be back!

My mother lives in the area and advised their smoked meats are reasonably priced. Drove from the other side of town to purchase. Decided to purchase a bottle of salad dressing while there....$5.99 for a small bottle of hidden valley!!! Extremely overpriced item...I stood in the aisle for awhile comparing prices & ingredients of other salad dressings....I guess I took too long to shop...one of the employees/owner came in the aisle and literally was on my heels, grimacing & eye-balling me as if I was stealing!!! Don't flatter yourself, I wouldn't waste my time or freedom to take anything out of this worthless store! VERY UNPLEASANT shopping experience....I will never shop there again!
