I was looking for a Chinese restaurant. I used YELP to help me find one. After looking at many restaurants, I saw and read that 1st Wok had good reviews so I decided to go there. Now, my first impression of 1st Wok was a hesitant one. It's not set in the best of plazas. There closed businesses that surrounded them. I didn't know if I should get out of the car but I did. When entering the establishment again I was hesitant. It's not the best looking restaurant. Definitely needed a paint job. There were 3 booths for dining in but they were taken up by supply boxes, one of their kids was watching their tablet and the other booth had a child sleeping in it. I hadn't planned on eating there anyway. There was a customer there waiting for their meal. I asked him if he came here often and he said yes with no hesitation. He said the food was good. Ok. The woman behind the counter was very nice. I asked questions about the food, especially the ABC, Almond Boneless Chicken, a specialty in Michigan Chinese restaurants and she answered every question with pleasure. I ordered the ABC combo which consisted of chicken fried rice, almond boneless chicken, a chicken/pork egg roll & chicken flavored gravy. The price was reasonable. When I got home and opened the foam container there was so much food I couldn't believe it. Definitely worth the price. Now, how does it taste. The egg roll was a little different. Crunchy on the outside with a different consistency on the inside but tasty. I've never had a chicken/pork egg roll before. It was bad. I had asked for plain fried rice instead of chicken fried rice and that's what I got. It was a mountain of rice, enough for 3 or 4 people!! WOW!!There had to have been a least 10 pieces of crispy chicken with green onion pieces on top. Again, enough for 3 people. The gravy, though different to me was very good on top of the chicken and rice. This was an excellent meal. I ate this combo dinner for 3 days in a row and every day I ate it was a treat. Tasted like day one. Overall.....The Almond Boneless Chicken (ABC) combo meal was really good and tasty, all 3 days!! Despite the dingy environment, I'm going back to try something else. Maybe beef pepper steak this time.Give 1st Wok a try. The ABC is really good!!Peace and Good Food

HORRIBLE customer service. We placed an order 2 hours in advance and they waited until we called about it to tell us that they couldn't fulfill the order. And then, when we asked questions, the woman on the phone kept talking over us and blaming us for ordering through DoorDash. No food, no ambiance, just a bad experience from start to finish. Never coming back here.

Yum, yum, yum. I love this Chinese. We have always gotten take out. Two of my families favorite dishes are the beef fries rice and chicken egg foo young. The beef fries rice is because it's made with real beef and good quality beef. It's really flavorful. Not just brown color rice. The chicken egg foo young is super flavorful. The dish being made with bean sprouts is often very bland when I try it at other restaurants but never the case here. Two thumbs up.

This is in a strip mall next to CVS. Overall it offers great value.Service: Friendly. My order was ready in 15 minutes.Food tasted fresh could have been a bit more flavorful. They only have a few booths for dine in customers. I saw a sign at the entrance that shows weekday's lunch combo (Chicken dishes only) for $5.I would come back again....

This isn't a fancy place, and like others have mentioned, it's mostly carry-out. But the food was good and the portions were generous. I had General Tso's, which had a sauce which wasn't quite as dark or as spicy as I'm used to, but it was good. The chicken was tender and didn't have too much breading. I don't think it was double fried, but it was decent. The rest of the food was pretty good, too. Was it something that knocked my socks off? No. But it was solid and about what I expect for Chinese food that I'm willing to eat. We will try this again.

On the flip side, utter disappointment. Dishes meant to be spicy were sweet. The fried rice had no flavor and we won't be back.

I'm giving a cautious five stars only because we have only tried this restaurant once on 12/19/2023 and we only ordered a quart of wonton soup and four of the spring rolls. While we still prefer the wonton soup from New Great Wall (sadly the owners retired and closed the restaurant), the wonton soup from First Wok is a close second and the spring rolls were quite good in our opinion. The owners were so nice and having their children there we thought was a great thing as well. It's a very small place but the price was excellent and we look forward to trying some of their other dishes. I will update the review after we try it again. We would definitely say give it a try!

This used to be our favorite local Chinese restaurant. Everything they make is good. But they don't have curbside pickup, and while waiting to go in to pickup an order I called in, my husband saw customers - one who walked over in scrubs from David Dental in the same plaza, WITHOUT MASKS, indoors, with an airborne virus. My husband called me, freaking out: "I can't go in there! It's small, and people without masks!" We canceled our order.I should note that one of the worst aerosolizing procedures is teeth cleaning, so I would NOT want to be anywhere that an unmasked dental clinic worker has been breathing. UGH. As my husband watched, more unmasked people came in. It's easy to stop: don't let them IN. Put a table outside the door like other carry-out restaurants, where people can pay by putting their money or card in a basket held by the masked/gloved employee, then get their order, put it on the table, and step back. But indoors, with an airborne virus? Not safe. Not safe at all. It's so sad.
