Thanks to Chef Anthony this was the most amazing soul food I've had in a really long time. Anthony is very friendly, and sociable. Even though I came in 10 minutes before closing time he was nice enough to explain the culinary history within his family. I had yams, greens, mac n cheese, and cornbread. I never tasted cornbread like this it was so good!

I have lived in the area for years and never knew this place was here. I love the soul food and I am very picky so I was skeptical. Well I was NOT disappointed. The best soul food from a restaurant I have ever had! The owner was very pleasant and professional. They have a small front area with tables and we chose to dine in. But it was so much food that I carried out the rest. I have been telling everyone this is now my #1 place for carry out.

Faustina's puts out delicious food at a reasonable price. They're mostly carry out but have a few small tables if you wanna stay, and you can flip through photo books of the past generations of Faustina chefs and their impressive creations (one used to do fruit and ice sculptures). The catfish is delicious, the okra is tasty, and the greens are scrumptious. If you're like me and want to embrace your inner 5 year old, the chicken tenders are great too. I have a hard time believing they make anything bad, although unless you like the chewiness of alligator I'd probably not order the alligator voodoo again. But so far everything else I've had is spot on.Will return, and often.

I have been looking for a good soul food spot in Detroit. I don't have to look any further. I tried the deviled eggs, mac n cheese, collard greens, and chicken and waffles. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The waffles were alright but not my favorite because there is a added ingredient (that my palate can't name). The deviled eggs had lots of flavor. Mac n cheese and collard greens were both great sides. Overall, the portion sizes were generous and the price was reasonable. I will be back for the fried chicken and to try other menu items. Chef and staff were nice too!

These folks don't use the word Creole lightly. It's NOT a part of the establishment's name just for show. This is the real deal Holyfield! If you are tired of the same old thing and you want to try some truly home cooked authentic Creole fare that your mouth will thank you for, just reward your self with the lobster mac n cheese, red beans and rice, the gumbo, fried okra (made just like my dear grandma's), or the greens and corn bread, and any of the other heavenly dishes on the menu. This is the REAL DEAL folks. You will not be disappointed! The service is fast, very friendly, and sincere. I will be introducing all my friends and family to this place. I shared some dishes with my 85 year old mother and she gives it two thumbs up and 5 stars! I originally gave this place 5 stars. But, I've been patronizing this joint for a while now. While I still love this place, I must say they can be inconsistent. I've referred friends and family to this place and after a while they come to the same conclusion. Sometimes the Turkey chops are the bomb. Other times they can be quite dry. Some times the red beans and rice are fantastic while other times they're overlooked and bland. So, I haven't thrown in the towel on this joint. But, I must say that I do get a tad disappointed from time to time.

Detroit isn't much of a hot spot for Cajun/Creole food, so any quality restaurant that offers it is worth checking out. Faustina's and Louisiana Creole Gumbo on Gratiot are the only spots within the city limits that really do it up right (I'm also a pretty big fan of Howe's Bayou in Ferndale). Faustina's resembles your typical bulletproof glass-guarded Detroit soul food hole in the wall, but the quality of food (as well as the prices) are considerably higher than most spots around town. They also offer some Southern dishes that are hard to find in the area, like alligator voodoo, lobster mac 'n' cheese, and jambalaya. I've yet to try any of those dishes, but I went with the classics: Cajun wings, fried okra, and red beans and rice.Everything was delicious, though a bit pricey for what it was. The Cajun wings were seasoned perfectly (I hate it when you order Cajun chicken, and you can tell that they just tossed some Cajun seasoning on after cooking), and were truly some of the best fried chicken I've had in Michigan. The fried okra was also fantastic - any restaurant with good okra can keep me coming back again and again. This isn't a sit-down restaurant, and there's not much to see in the way of decoration, so the high prices seem a bit incommensurate with this kind of a restaurant. I did enjoy reading the many accolades on the wall for Chef Anthony Faustina and his father, Chef H'lenardo Faustina III - one of the best names I've ever heard, and one that bespeaks deep Creole roots.Check this place out next time you're craving some soul food!

I was dropping off my sister to work and starving! Even though I had already placed an order at Jamaican pot, I couldn't resist the urge to walk in when I saw it next door to her job so I went in and got some banana pudding and you know it Mac and cheese! Banana pudding cheesecake to be exact super good both items are good! Friendly staff as well. I will definitely be back.

I got the turkey ribs with yams and greens. This meal was absolutely fantastic! The owner came out to greet us and make sure everything was perfect for me and my friend. I'm going to tell all of my friends about this restaurant. I will be back, my stomach demands that I return!

Can't comment on food quality yet because I'm still waiting for my order... Called ahead for pickup and they said to would be ready in 15 min. It's now 40 minutes and counting on a straightforward order (no substitutions or special requests). Was really excited to try out the food but It has to be out of this world for me to come back again. I'd recommend Chef Greg's Soul in the Wall nearby instead if you're looking for similar cuisineUpdate: Tasted the food and it's actually great - jerk chicken was flavorful, mac and cheese had great consistency. I'm actually conflicted on whether I'll be backTLDR: Great food but wildly inaccurate wait times. Good place to go if you don't have anywhere else you need to be that day
