"Where's the Beef?" It's right here at Fairway Packing located in Detroit's Eastern Market and it's an amazing find. While they supply their perfectly-aged, prime meats to some of the finest restaurants in town, they are also open to the public. I tried the pork and a steak and both were melt-in-your-mouth, "like buttah" delicious! You can order from the website and have your meat delivered or better yet, pick up your order in person to get a discount. Fairway meats would make for great corporate holiday gifts in my opinion. I'll be back for sure. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.Highly Recommend.

My wife arranged a surprise for me by getting me an A5 Japanese Wagyu steak and it's hard to explain the level of excitement surrounding this. I went and picked it up yesterday and this place is easy to get to, less than half a mile off of 75. I went in and Gino helped me make sure I wouldn't ruin this steak. Let me tell you how delightful this steak was. It has ruined all other steaks for me. Cooked it a beautiful medium rare and used the steak salt they gave me. It was nothing short of perfect. Best steak I've ever had! Hoping to hit the lottery so I can exclusively just eat this for every meal going forward.

If you love yourself, you will buy your meat here.I came across this place by sheer chance about 4 years ago while sitting next to a random guy at Eastern Market stuffing my face with a burrito from the El Guapo truck. I was telling my new rando homeboy that I wanted to eat something before I went over to the Gratiot Central Market to buy some meat so I didn't overdo it. John Doe wipes some guac off his face and tells me I should go to Fairway Packing instead. I said what is that? He points and tells me it's over that way and they have dry aged beef - the rest as they say is history.Be forewarned though, this place ain't cheap. However, it's one of the few places I know of where you legitimately get what you are paying for. I've gotten tons of stuff here over the years. I'm particularly fond of the dry aged ribeyes and the chop house burger blend. Let me tell you, if you like burgers and you think there is no difference in ground beef you are mistaken, sir. And despite how much most stuff costs here, this grind is pretty reasonable - about $2.50/lb more than you will pay for janky-ass ground chuck.You can even buy yourself a hunk of meat and have it dry aged to your specifications. If you and a couple of carnivore buddies teamed up on a slab you can save yourself a little $$$I'm also particularly fond of their packaging. Everything is vacuum sealed TIGHT. And that makes a difference, trust me. I have bought some of their specials before to save a little dough and I have gotten almost a year out of some steaks in the freezer because they are packed so well.Also, due to their popularity with the common man such as myself they have started rolling out some packages and coupon codes on their website to appeal to the retail customer. Which I really appreciate. So, Fairway, if you are reading this dudes, keep putting those specials and those coupons up, help a brotha out!This may not be a weekly grocery stop for most people but if you really want quality stuff for a dinner party or a treat while the wife might be out of town on a "girls weekend" do yourself a favor and visit their website and place an order.

The quality and service at fairway are excellent. I ordered the piedmontese, wagyu, prime ribeyes, filets, burgers, and hot dogs. They are easily the best quality cuts of meat that i ever cooked at my own house! Furthermore, Fairway delivers from their shop directly to my house in 1 day! I can't way to order my next round of meat in a couple of weeks. Thank you Fairway.

This is the best meat you can buy in Metro Detroit. Quality product, excellent customer service, and the best pricing in town. They have dry aged to Japanese Wagyu! Order a package this summer and your whole family will enjoy!

Went down to get a piece of meat for New Years. Yes, my goal was "a piece of meat" or pieces that would feed a crowd of 9 :) I didn't know what to expect, but the reviews were great/good so I gave it a go. I have been to the other meat distributors in Eastern Market so I expected to walk into a large meat locker, not the case. You're buzzed into a small vestibule and there is a person behind a glass window who takes your order. A nice guy came out to help me choose the cut as they could tell I was a "newbie." I told him what I was interested in, my price range, and a few minutes later he came out with a beautifully trimmed prime rib roast. I went because they had dry aged beef - the cost is quite high (understandably.) I went with a "step down" from dry aged and still was presented with an absolutely gorgeous roast that was a big hit. I will certainly go down there again for special occasions. Next time, I'll just call ahead and place my order as there is really no fun/mystique in placing your order onsite. I had visions of walking through meat lockers and pointing to the one I wanted ;) Not the case, and that's ok.

What a great find. I just had the best steak I've ever had, and I have had a lot, being that I travel across North America for business and have eaten in some of the top steak houses in the country.I had a special day to celebrate, and I called them to have a couple of Wagyu NY strips cut to 2" - Ken was happy to help me out and they were amazing. I thought the price was a little high, but for a special occasion worth it.I will be going back. Thank you, Ken.

I bought dry aged prime steaks. They were excellent, they looked and tasted like they were hand selected. I don't buy pork or chicken because I have to pay shipping, but the beef is worth getting. Very Good.

The quality of the meat here is fantastic and you truly get what you pay for. The issue that I have is that they recently removed the 20% discount for online orders and pickup without making it explicitly clear that that was being done. My recent order didn't include the discount. While I am satisfied with my purchase more transparency into this would have been nice. Regardless the quality and consistency is best in area. At least from what I have experience so far. Imperial New York Strip was amazing although would have been better at 20% less.
