I was in town visiting my family for the holiday. It is a family tradition that we eat black eyed peas and a dark green vegetable like collard greens for luck and financial prosperity. My family all moved to the suburbs, so I did not feel like driving to Clinton Township to get a plate from my sister. I was relatively close to this place. It's interesting that the owner is Arabic and the chefis Arabic / African, I'm not sure how or why that worksbut it does! I've been there 3 times and all of their food is fantastic!!! I usually order online ahead of time for convenience's sake and when I pick up, every time I getget there I'm blown away by the hot food display other food items that are available daily and are not on the online menu. Nevertheless I'm always more than satisfied with the long list of soul food items on the online menu.I especially like the variety of green vegetable choices.You can order Green Beans, Collard Greens, MixedVegetables or Salads. Plus, Baked and Grilled meats,love their Meatloaf, Salmon, Shrimp, Baked Chickenand everything else, their Yams are to die! for. I stopped in for a late lunch in a neighborhood restaurant. I grabbed the 'BQQ Chicken Dinner' with two sides. The selection of sides was plentiful and everything is served cafeteria style with exception of their cooked to order fish. The barbecue chicken was half a chicken with no barbecue sauce (the way I like it). I chose broccoli and greens. The broccoli was almost gone so she topped it off with mixed vegetables of broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. I thought that was a nice gesture and it included cornbread. The side portions were substantial too.The meal was tasty and enough food for two. Not bad for a total of $8.47. My only reason for 4 stars is the greens were too large to consume before cutting them up to partake of them. P.S. They also have $5.00 lunch specials. Parking is right at curbside in front of the restaurant. Takeout only. Open on Mondays.

This tastes as good as my moms food!!! I haven't had meatloaf like this in years. They give generous portions and the family running it are so nice. I haven't had anything but the dinner posted meatloaf and gravy, macaroni and cheese, string beans and white potatoes, and peach cobbler and all of it is amazing like lick the box amazing. I'll be back!

I hate how people that's not of color come in and try get us to spend our money on shit they don't know how to cook... I was fooled by the name. My boyfriend paid for food that looked like 2 week left overs, and tasted even worse. Never again!

After seeing the high rating to this place, I was excited to give it a try. However, upon entering the parking lot, there was a man urinating on the wall outside behind the restaurant. This deterred me from getting out to try the food.
