a bagel and a cup of tea
This stretch of McNichols recently got a makeover. Two-way bike lanes now lead directly to the shop!
After being closed during the pandemic, Detroit Sip reopened on October 14, 2020.

There are lots of tables and chairs to study at and even a few cozy chairs by the window.

Came in for a coffee and to get some work done. The coffee was excellent. I had a garlic, croissant thingy which was excellent.Food is the standard coffee shop stuff, plugs snacks (chips), and a few desserts. A wide variety of seating with various tables, a meeting area, high top, and a reading area. The neighborhood feel of Detroit Sip is so great. I appreciate all the small touches, the concrete floors, soft jazz in the background, pics of Motown icons, murals in windows across the street. I love the inclusive, community vibe. Local artist crafts are on display. The ladies behind the counter were so friendly. They welcomed me with a smile.Overall, I loved this experience. I know I will be coming back, so I gave it a rare 5 stars. I want to see this local cafe thrive

Our #ExodusSummitDetroitsquad had our first Meetup at Detroit Sip this Sunday. It was phenomenal, I ordered the Auto Americano with almond milk, raw sugar and toasted cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. A simple breakfast but an ultimate experience. Atmosphere quite refreshing, the service impressive. The owner & staff beautiful people....skip the trip to Starbucks and enjoy this hidden gem on Detroit's westside! #BlackownedBuisness

Great service, great coffee! What else is there to know?!Well, what else is that the fine folks at Detroit Sip are invested in their community. I went by on Small Business Saturday and they were hosting a showcase of so many local small businesses and artists inside, it truly was a celebration of what makes Detroit amazing.Support a business that understands the value of hot coffee and community.

I just went today and was told they DON'T have decaf espresso drinks. Just wanted to update that because I said they did in my last review.

Every time I have stopped there the service and quality have been above and beyond. They have a punch card for multiple visits. Last time I got the cinnamon crunch muffin and a coffee. I'm excited for this and the other businesses that are opening up along mcnichols

Detroit Sip on McNichols exclusively serves products from Detroit companies, so that means beans from Germack and Ashe Supply Co., and pastries and savory dishes by Dutch Girl Donuts (y'all KNOW that Dutch Girl is my J-A-M!), Better Made Chips (another personal fave of mine), A-Team Cheesecakes, Brooklyn Brownies, Soups by Jane, Pinky's Shuga Shack, and lots more. The staff are wonderful: friendly and attentive. As soon as I walked in the door, I felt welcome. The vibe is really good and I liked the interior decorating as well. Great spot for a pick-me up; trust me, you wouldn't like me when I am hangry!Oh and did I mention Detroit Sip is local and black-owned? Just two more great reasons to stop in and TREAT YOURSELF!

I stopped in yesterday (Sunday) afternoon to read for an hour. It was my first time, and had seen it mentioned in a Metro Times article a few weeks prior. The interior is HUGE and well decorated. There is plenty of space for activities (the barista/owner said she was planning to have yoga there, they were taping a podcast while I was there, and there was a black-tie event last week). The coffee was good, and on the higher end of average price without being prohibitively expensive. I also had some of the vegan leek/mushroom soup that was available and also quite delicious. There was a steady stream of regulars that indicated it's consistently a solid choice!I'd definitely recommend stopping in, and if you're close enough, make it a regular occurrence.

A blessing to have a coffee shop this close to University of Detroit Mercy, and very close to my office on 6mile/McNichols. Great community space for meeting friends, community groups, etc. Hours are particular - Thursday through Sunday at the moment. Next door to the future Homebase, a community focused information center by Live 6 non-profit.Lots of street parking and the coffee is pretty good too!

horrible Paid $10 to get into this place. ordered food. waited 3 hours and the food never came. it was 3 of us. we each ordered 2 casamigo shots a piece. they serve you shots in flimsy plastic cups. after waiting 3hours for food that never came out. we asked for our bill. $140 for 6 supposedly casamigo shots. Not to mention the place was completely empty. not busy at all. horrible time, horrible experience, horrible ambiance, horrible customer service. I will never return or recommend to suck on six!! I don't think they are ready to be open. they want to collect money. Get your shit together sucky six. serve your customers the proper way. its not that serious. it seems they are desperate for funds
