With the cold coming in and feeling a little under the weather, I was looking for some good ramen and I saw Detroit Loves Tacos has a birria ramen on Doordash. I ordered the beef and chicken birria ramens for my fiance and myself, as well as one chicken taco and one beef taco. The birria ramen was SO flavorful, it was exactly what I needed and hit the spot. The tacos were your standard Mexicantown-type of taco, but the ramen was the standout in my opinion. Would highly recommend for a nice twist to your standard ramen.

We were in Detroit for a class and I was looking for a good taco joint. I always find that the places off the beaten path tend to be some of the best, so figured that trying a taco place inside of a liquor store sounded promising. The staff was very nice and ordering was pretty simple. They gave you a receipt and you had to go over to the liquor store counter to pay, then bring the receipt back to the taco counter to get your food. We waited an abnormally long amount of time for our tacos, and it wasn't readily apparent why. It was your average weeknight around 7pm or so. The staff was apologetic so I don't know if it was just a one-off thing or a norm. Either way, the tacos were delicious and worth the wait.

I don't get the hype with this place. I went recently when I was starving. Like so starving I could eat at Arby's starving. But I stopped here because it's heard good things. I got a variety of things, tacos, a birria, and a torta because it's not a place I would frequent so I wanted to get a good idea about most of their menu. It was pricier than most other places nearby. The people working were not very nice, fast, or helpful. I could hear them talking smack about the "guerra" not wanting lettuce on her tacos. Yes, I'm the guerra that doesn't want shredded iceberg lettuce on a hot taco. You'd think leaving out an ingredient may have made this process faster, but no. It took about 15 minutes for my order to be ready. I know because I was starving and looked at the clock when I ordered. I had time to walk around the store twice, buy something, check on my food, not ready yet, when back to the store side and bought a drink, stood in line behind a guy paying for his stuff in charge, went back, food still not ready. It's tacos, y'all, seriously. The working were moving so slow like it was really fascinating how fast they could talk about the only customer there but their hands could move so slow.Anyway, I finally get my food and sit down at the one table to eat (definitely not a place you come for the ambiance, unless you enjoy eating inside convenience stores that are not only close to the highway but also the bus station). I had one bite of everything, and it was all bad. Nothing compelling enough to take a second bite, other than being really hungry. It was so bland and tasteless, the meat was poor quality, the tortillas were not good. Just zero flavor which is quite bizarre. I don't know if it was an off day or everyone else who eats there has different palettes from me but I can think of half a dozen places in that area that have way better food, nicer staff, and where you don't have to wait for an eternity for a taco.

They have chicken birria tacos!! First time trying the chicken version of birria tacos. I am not the biggest fan of red meat so when I heard they make their birria tacos with chicken I just had to stop by and try them! Best decision made all week! They definitely do not skimp on the meat portions for the tacos, so mouthwatering and full of flavor. A must try if you are in the area. The people behind the counter were so sweet and really care about their business. It is located inside a liquor store but there is 1 dining table you're able to sit at and enjoy your food. I will be coming back more often when in the area.

Who doesn't love the taste of grandma's home cooking? NO ONE. Everyone prefers home cooked meals to fast food or restaurant food any-day right? Of course! That is EXACTLY what you get when you get food from Detroit Loves Tacos. From the special grandmas recipe for rice to the birria cheese tacos dipped in consome you can taste grandmas years of food wisdom in every bite. This spot is a MUST visit if you are in the Detroit area. A small business ran by a couple and their son it can't get anymore mom and pop vibe can it!?What's cool about them is that they cater! I booked them for my business lunch and everyone kept talking about how great the food was! You can tell these people spend the extra time picking out all the best ingredients to make the perfect meal just for YOU! They have two locations in a corner store off Fort St and Rosa parks and inside Nancy's Whiskey Bar. Either place you go the food is delicious. However, I have more fun at Nancy's whiskey! Either way go try this restaurant out today! You will be having Taco tuesday everyday!

My husband saw this restaurant reviewed on Facebook and we decided to go. They have vegan options and that's my jam. We have been twice and both times they weren't able to accommodate us, or weren't open due to having catering gigs. We went at different times of the day, different days. We haven't been able to patronize them and won't be going back. I'm not sure how you run a restaurant that is closed due to having catering obligations. Sincerely,Disappointed and frustrated.

I had the beef nachos today for lunch. They were pretty good. I'm not a fan of the processed cheese whiz. That's my only complaint. I will have to try them again and select a different dish. Portion was nice, flavor was good. Presentation was acceptable. Thumbs up!

Man what a fall from grace. 50.00 for 6 chicken tacos and 2 birria dinners. It wasn't the price it was the disastrous food. The beans and rice that once could stand alone were bland overcooked and void of any flavor. The birria that once were savory and complex were tuff and flavorless, and the conosme was literally boxed beef broth with no sign of being used to braise the beef. The chicken tacos were mushy corn tortills filled with shredded flavorless shredded chicken. I was excited to bring lunch for my office mates, and I just hope they forgive me for delivering such an atrocious, un edible meal. I ate some of my plate and dumped where it belonged in the garbage.
