The bar service was incredible. This is only my second time here, but I know that I love this place. I'm sad hat it has taken me this long to truly discover it. I had the halibut tonight, it was good, but not as good as the arctic char.

The place has an open feel and not crowded. The service is spot on. Our waitress was attentive to our every need. Cocktails and food were good with respectable pricing. Their menu is complete to satisfy your seafood, carnivore desires but not to large that it takes 1/2 hour just to figure it out. I will go back for sure.

Every dish was excellent! The server and chef listened to what we wanted and delivered. I had the special, halibut poached to perfection. The lobster ravioli was wonderful. The bread was delicious. The Caesar salad had a beautiful balance of cheese, lemon and anchovies smashed until undetectable with your eyes but explosive with flavor. Our server Kyle was on time, relevant and professional. And my date says he was cute too.

I'm sharing my previous experience with the "It's All About Shrimp" wine tasting dinner at the Detroit Fish House Steak & Oyster Bar in Shelby Township, MI. my review is honest and is my opinion. While it was not the top notch experience expected, I still wanted to share. The Good. We had a great time chatting it up with our tablemates. The wine list included 2 whites, 1 rose, and 1 red. Finishing with a wine cocktail. Good variety and they all paired pretty well with the dishes. The Meh. I wasn't provided large pours or wine top offs, but many did received them (I noticed this happing during the entire dinner). While the food plating was beautiful some of the dishes lacked seasoning and were served at room temp. Compared to other experiences, the price tag was a little high for the quality and quantity. Watch my Instagram Reel featuring the experience. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CqdnkyMjpyE/?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==#winetasting #foodandwinepairings #metrodetroit #Michigan #winelover #restaurantreview #metrodetroitfood

Boyfriend made reservations for my birthday and DFH exceeded our expectations.Ambiance: Intimate dining environment. Very clean. There were parties dressed a little more formal and there were also others dressed very casual in hoodies and jeans. Food: Started with the Seafood Beignets as an appetizer which was a solid choice! Round balls that are fried on the outside and filled with a mixture of lobster and crab over a delicious pesto aioli sauce. For entrees, we got the popular Papa Bear Steamer Bowl and Chilean Sea Bass. Everything was presented beautifully and the ingredients and seafood tasted so fresh. All entrees come with a salad, soup or cole slaw. We got the lobster bisque which was creamy with wonderful chunks of lobster and the Soup du Jour which was full of flavor with yummy pieces of potato and sausage. For dessert we got the key lime pie to go which was decadent. Service: Our server was attentive and pleasant. Everyone we encountered was very nice and welcoming. This is one of my new fave places to go in this area when craving seafood!

My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner on 8-17-24, after a difficult few years. We needed something nice. The whole experience was amazing! We were given a free glass of champagne each "just because" it was our anniversary. (They knew because they asked when we booked if we were celebrating anything. Smart business!) Wonderful touch for customers and set things off to a wonderful start. (Don't know if it was expensive champagne or not, although we have had our fair share. But it was tasty!) The place has a very elegant, hygge vibe with natural woods, dark accents and just the right amount of space between tables. Not crowding customers in so you can hear every single thing the next table is saying, and barely hearing yourselves. Pretty candles on the table...just elegant simplicity. Two things, though, were the star of the show: the food, and the service. My husband and I each have a food sensitivity, which can make service for dining out a negative experience. (We've gotten the tense looks, eye rolls they thing we can't see, and so on.) First, the service: Jenny. That's all I can say. If you go to DFH, try to get her section. She was so patient and kind working through our food restrictions, and even worked with the chef to remove a spice that was standard on the special but would have made my husband sick. She consistently checked on our comfort, but without being obtrusive. Friendly, super professional, always on her game throughout the whole meal and with multiple tables. Truly five star service!Second: The food. This place knows how to do seafood...easily on par with a Krus and Muer. I'm a lobster tail fan, and it was perfect. Juicy and cooked just perfect. My Papa Bear Steamer bowl was absolutely delicious. My husband had a fish special (can't remember the name of the fish), but it the chef adjusted it beautifully spice-wise to maintain the integrity of the idea of the dish, without sacrificing any flavor. Kudos to the chef! We've been to places where the chef is either irritating at making accommodations, or simply strips the flavor while making the accommodation. Not here! Talent abounds.Obviously, I can't speak for others' experiences here, but we are most definitely making Detroit Fish House, and Jenny, part of our regular dinner-out schedule.

Had dinner at Detroit fish house in a Thursday night and the food was horrible. I ordered the perch special sauteed and it was cooked to texture of beef jerky. Vodka martini tasted like water, not vodka. The place had very few people eating there, yet our waitress was no where to be found. Food took forever to get and then it was horrible. Warm, not hot. This place will probably be out of business soon.

The food was too expensive. It started with oyster Rockafeller and they were sour and had to send them back. The lobster bisque.soup had no taste. The seafood chowder was extremely salty. The king crab legs at market price were to expensive for just crab legs that were tiny for two clusters. I ordered the crab stuffed shrimp. Just four shrimp with a small amount of crab for $36 bucks. This was our first time with 12 of use and is our last time. I will say the service was excellent!Unfortunately not the food.

Waitstaff was okay. The calamari was displayed nicely but was incredibly chewy. My wife ordered the Faroe salmon and was mildly pleased. I ordered the 6 oz filet and it was a tough and chewy cut also. Sides where good. All in all way overpriced and the whole experience took about an hour and a half. We will not be back.
