Detroit Beach Restaurant & Pizzeria

I love Mom and Pop places and this place has stood the test of time! It's a tiny place in the middle of Monroe. We got blessed and found a table and sat right down. The place was busy as it was Saturday evening. The pizza is a real Detroit Style recipe. The pizza was completely different than pizza's I've had in the past. The dough had tiny crunchies in it. A thin style pizza with the usual toppings offered. We ordered the 12inch pepperoni with green olives. The crust was crispy, crunchy, pretty good! The dough was just right! I could've easily ate the entire pizza.We also ordered the cheese bread which was also pretty good. I noticed they don't offer any thing to dip your bread in, you must request it. We asked for some pizza sauce and they brought us a little cup to dip our bread in. It didn't seem like a tomato based sauce.The place inside is small, but has a lot tables and chairs. Seems to work. The service was great, considering it was very busy. The place was clean considering it is an aged building. They do not offer "beer or wine". Before we left, it was standing room only while people waited for an empty table. Ample parking. Also, and always remember to, "Please Close The Door Behind You" !

A dive inside with okay food, but won't return because of the horrible service & rude people. It's typical American Italian food. I don't know how they have survived so long... the beachers must keep them alive.

Really nostalgic to the folks of this area. My friend has been going there since he was 12, and that's more than 40 years ago. Pizza was decent, I had the gnocchi in butter garlic sauce. It's REALLY rich, avoid it unless you love garlic and butter (we're talking like a dip cup for lobster, butter garlic sauce... lol).

Was in the area for work for the week and grabbed pizza the one night. Pizza was fresh and tasty, lots of flavor. Garlic cheese bread was bad. Smooshed together and full of tin foil in the between the bread. Not great. We'd come back if ever in the area again though.

Picture don't do the taste justice. Large double cheese, thin soft and chewy crust with cornmeal, garlic poppy seeds bottom. Quality ingredients, packed with flavor and freshness! Delivery was fast and easy, great service! Cool location if dining in!

Pizza was dry and worse than Little Caesars. We were the only customers in the place so our service wasn't bad. Ambiance - not much to write about since there were just tables and chairs inside. Would NOT recommend the pizza. Yuc

well I picked up a few pizza's on my way to friends house in the beaches. well first of all I was shocked being charged 2.00 service fee for using a credit card. I realize some places charge a small percentage but 2.00 is ridiculous.well the pizza's were mediocre to say the least. Topping were sparse and very little sauce and had very little flavor. I've gotten pizza from several other places in Monroe but would not get another pizza from this place.

What a wonderful example of a successful American family business. We spent our Sunday enjoying the atmosphere and fine Italian cuisine at their 60th year anniversary in business. After three generations these five brothers and sisters has made their passion for food service an institution here in Monroe. I personally enjoyed their personable conversation, terrific service, and reasonable prices. Looking forward to another 60!

a must have everytime i am back home. i grew up getting detroit beach pizza every Sunday at my grandmas house, and yet, it still has not lost its appeal. the pizza, the pasta, everything here is fresh and delicious. give it a try next time you're looking for pizza!

Really? What happened to the quality that they were known for? Really? Horrible Italian sandwich! They used to toast the bun and have plenty of meat. This was an embarrassment. I feel bad for the current management. Subway has you beat hands down. A real sad statement to the years of legacy.
